A strange-looking critter from Indonesia is the latest animal on display at Riverbanks Zoo. The babirusa is a long-legged cousin of a pig. This one, named Bertello, came from the Los Angeles Zoo in December and has been getting used to his new enclosure.

I'm not sure the word cute comes to mind, but he is certainly new to me - I hope the species gets the protection they clearly need! Noted!

Noted Will share on F.B.
Yep, I never knew this Guy existed either !
Makes you wonder what could be out there in the remaining fragments of Rain Forest, that we haven't laid eyes on yet & probably won't, because our Human Activities will cause their Extinction to happen First !!!

This is indeed unusual, and I really hope the multi- zoo program finds enough pairs to keep this little guy from extinction. What is it going to take for man to understand animals need their habitat or we will lose them forever?

Wonderful how new species are still being discovered. We need to protect the wild places.

This is not an animal created by God but a genetically created species & I am wondering what is the sole purpose? Once again another evil manipulation of mankind to exploit innocent beings. Thanks Yrna.

Unusual? yes, for sure. Cute? no, not quite. Manipulated? Very probable, then actually very sad. Why make him used to an enclosure instead of protecting his natural habitat to ensure that what's left of it, remain intact for their survival?
