This is a win for Shark!!! And all its supporters, that means us!

Dear Friends,

The focus on the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo (CFD) continues in this update with some more exciting news. Less than forty-eight hours after SHARK held a packed press conference that was open to the public in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the rodeo announced that animals would no longer be shocked to make them appear "rank" and wild at the CFD rodeo!

Bob Budd, CFD Spokesperson said about shocking animals, "We're just saying, No, you can't do it. Period. The only exception is if an animal or a human would be hurt".

The Cheyenne newspaper reported that, "The new regulations that will be imposed at this year's event are more stringent than the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rules [CFD] had previously followed."

What the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo seems to be saying now is what SHARK has been saying all along: the PRCA's supposed humane rules are not sufficient to protect the animals. It is very significant that the "Daddy of 'em All" says they going to throw out the PRCA's rules and will now make up their own rules because the PRCA's rules are not good enough for them!

This is great news for the animals, however so much more needs to be done.

CFD still needs to address the issue of the deadly "wild horse race," steer busting and calf roping events. Until that happens, with your continued support, SHARK will maintain pressure to the Cheyenne rodeo to do the right thing and stop the brutality.

A disturbing story:

The Ugly Face of Rodeo

Those of you familiar with Internet message boards know that rodeo supporters can make some pretty hateful, backwards, and downright stupid comments. If you have ever wondered what these computer cowboys look like, wait no more. Here is your chance to meet one of them.

Rodeo Eddie, as we call him, responded to one of SHARK's Horse Shocking videos on YouTube by sending us a video of his own. Click here to see Rodeo Eddie.

Be warned that the video contains obscenities, racism, and homophobia. And inexplicably, he doesn't like the Toyota Prius either.

Rodeo Eddie

Sadly, in our experience, Eddie is pretty typical of the average rodeo supporter. What are rodeo sponsors thinking?

Southwest Airlines wants Eddie as a customer so badly they will pay big money to support rodeos? Dodge is so desperate to sell trucks that they are going after the Rodeo Eddie demographic? We already knew that corporations like Coke are willing to lie about their rodeo sponsorship in order to sidestep their own corporate rules, but now we can see who they are so desperately trying to get to drink their products and it isn't a pretty picture.

And this is Rodeo Eddie:

well worth seeing what sort of mental attitude Rodeo cowboys have!
