Mus, a city of East Turkey. The people involved are chaining a wolf from the leg and making the dogs beat, attack, kill him. It is a long and painfull video. the wolf is crying for help from another almost dead one and the people are just having fun!

Please tell me what we should do about this! I cannot and will not just look and forget about the video. We should NOT!

Horrible - I couldn't watch the video - what you wrote was bad enough! There really is no end to the brutality inflicted on animals in Turkey.

Oh,Asli - I just tried google translating the page, and caught a bit of the video - those VILE disgusting people!

As usual with those translations, it was not very legible, but apparently it's a news publication, the article didn't seem to be in agreement with the sadists responsible, and there was one comment which also seemed to have sympathy for the wolf.

Best to get the decent people in the area to write to the newspapers, officials or go to the authorities and complain about this cruel behaviour. The complaints needs to get initiated and go from there. It will take time, patience to get people to stop this disgusting attitudes towards animals.

TY, Asil.

I called the person who made the news. It is a brand new story and I asked the reporter for some more detail. Also alerted the Turkish activist groups. And I think the best is for me to open a law suit. I am getting pro on that lately!!!
Will keep all of you informed here of the developements
And I will also write a letter that we can distribute to the Government
Sashs: Do you want to join me on the plane to that village?? i am sooo mad!

Well done my Dear Asli G.
I am well aware of this cruelty among men who still play at becoming human.
I get too distress to watch the hurt that the Animales go through. There but the grace of God go I.
Remember that God works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform.
WE ARE BECOMEING AWAKE.
We are realising how wrong this all is and are now seeking to stop it. Let there be a comeing together and unite for the bringing this out in the open so that they can be shamed.
Blessings to you all. Janet.

This is horrible. There has to be something that can be done. This is sadism and the most hideous form of cruelty. The sound of those bastards laughing just makes me so mad. I wish I could chain them to a tree and do the same to them. Is there anyone who knowswhere we can send a letter to a govt. official or an NGO that can do something?

Asli,

I sent off an email to Burak Sansal asking for help with what was being said on the video, where it was taken, why was it being done and if this was common in Turkey!

Burak Sansal runs a Professional Tour Guide in Turkey and I don't know if he will write back or not. But, if people want to get involved and send a protest, I would suggest sending emails, with a link to the video, to the attention of the President of Turkey ( Abdullah Gül ) at cumhurbaskanligi@tccb.gov.tr with a note indicating that you will not visit Turkey!

In that email, I would also indicate that I was sending a protest note to the European Union opposing Turkeys membership in the European Union because of their obvious cruelty to animals.... and I would make sure that I would carbon copy the email!

Now President Abdullah Gül and his Government want European Union membership badly and my thinking is that he will not be happy about the video... he will not be happy about the emails protesting the video... and he won't be happy about the emails protesting Turkeys membership application into the European Union!

I would suggest starting with Ivo Šrámek Ambassador, Czechoslovakia's Permanent Representative to the Political and Security Committee and his email is: ivo_sramek@mzv.cz

You will also have to send this email to the European Union Ombudsman: euro-ombudsman@europarl.europa.eu

Asili... you will have to help us out and do some research on this: Who would be the person or group to email at the European Union opposing Turkeys Membership?

What is German Chancellor Angela Merkel email? If Germany starts getting protest letters about this... that would help!

Hi Rogue, you don t have to write to Burak. I am Turkish living in Germany and Holland and I also am member of HAYTAP the only animal federation of Turkey.
I already put the link and the news to the site:
http://www.haytap.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1716&Itemid=4407

And I always write about fur and antivivisection as well. I have a good group over there.
They are preparing the mail to the government now and I am expecting all the mail address with the mail this afternoon.

Regarding the EU side, I have the mail of Cem Ozdemir, the Head of Green Party, Germany . he is from Turkis origin and a very succesfull politician.

But I am open to your suggestions as well.

Asli G. (124)

maybe we should alos hit hard the tourism side of Turkey? And state that if this is gone unpunished we will not visit Turkey and do whatever it takes to make a global boycott?

Noted. That is fantastic work you are doing on this Asli. I think the boycott would be good if they don't listen to you first. TY.

The video does not show up for me, but your explanation is sufficient. My heart goes out to this poor baby that was tortured by those disgusting monsters. This is not the first incident with a wolf in turkey. I will try find the page back - a few month ago people tortured a hungry wolf that was searching for food for 45 minutes and captured this on video. They put a piece of wood in his mouth and tortured him all the 45 minutes - after they sent dogs after him.
This is just so horrible and so cruel - people loughing at the suffering of such magnifient creature and he has just no chance.
Asli, please keep us updated what we can do - especially the email adresses and all. .Will take any action possible and think about ways we can get justice...

Writing to Turkey's Government and protesting the cruelty while indicating that you will not visit and at the same time opposing Turkey's membership in the EU because of the cruelty should be more affective than traditional protests!

Hit them from different angles!

Asli G. (124)
Friday February 13, 2009, 5:08 am
LET S HIT THEM THEN!
Rogue the Turkish mail will not be enough then. Shall I translate when I receive it or shall we do a more porwerfull and formal one for EU in English?

Asli,

I have written letters that have caused people to get very angry. I have written letters that have caused people to cry... Imagine for a moment grown men reading a letter, crying, getting up and hugging another man... those are the letters I have written!

You will be dealing with very busy people who do not have time to read a 2 or 3 page protest letter... you have to say everything on one page including there name address and phone numbers along with your name address and phone numbers... all of this on one page!

Again, these people do not have time to read a 2, 3, or 4 page protest letter and if you can't say it on one page... then it is not worth writing or sending!

Starting to fight back again after 02:10.At 03:58 all the dogs begin the final attack,at 04:48 the wolf is finally dead (at least i hope so),this poor magnificent creature, the long suffering this wolf had to endure.I watched the full video with tears in my eyes, and this video broke my heart again !!! Incredible how evil humans can be.Will take the nessasary actions.TY Asli

I am sick.......treating such beautiful animals in such a manner. I wish I could inflict the same on those who stood around and did nothing. Whatever you need from me Asli.....I'm there. Sent my letters off.....what else can we do?

Asli G. (124)
Friday February 13, 2009, 7:48 am
The letter in Turkish is almost ready with all the related emails. I am contacting local big news agency and it will be on tv as well.
On the other hand we also had a chat with the Mayor and he will help us to find the criminals and bring to justice. they are very sad and feeling responsible of the faith of the poor wolf.
Just give me some more time to give the final steps for our action.
Rogue will also write an english letter if he finds time today.

Thank you!

How can humans be so endlessly, horribly cruel. I suspect they harbor deep rage which they cannot express except through helpless animals or caged human captives. Criminally insane, perhaps? Should be kept out of human society until "cured" or forever.

I was roaming around and happened on this site. I too cannot watch the video I take your word for it. It warms my heart to see how fast and dedicated those of you who composed the letters are. So many people are just talk, but I love action. It is very wise of you to hit them where the money is, tourism, if anything shall work the almighty dollar will. Peace

THANK GOD for people like you Asli. I cannot watch a video like this and do not need to. Torturing animals is horrible. Yesterday, I ran across the petition on Peanut, the puppy hacked to death. It literally made me physically nauseated and I could not stop crying! I am still so upset by it. I will send letters. Thank you Asli. You are truly one of our Care 2 heroes.

Noted. Asli, can you send us a link to the petition if it's online? I don't go to Turkey for so many reasons, but sheesh! The thing that humans need to understand is that abusers of animals don't just abuse animals- they often go on to humans as well. These people are mentally unstable, and it is imperative that the Turkish government find them and place them in custody before they commit other horrible acts. Thanks, Rogue, for posting.

Kit,

I just copied Alsi letter and placed my name and address to it then sent it off by email. I also did the same with the letter I posted!

My thinking is that individual letters would be best which is why both letters have been sent to the EU, Turkey, and to the TV station that posted the video... I want both the EU and Turkey to know about the letters and I want that TV station manager to see those letters!

I AM REALLY TICKED OFF BY THIS CRUELTY, THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE DONE THIS OR WILL DO IT AGAIN, NEED TO BE JAILED,IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, THEY ARE NOT CIVILIZED OR VERY SICK IN THE HEAD, I NEVER WATCH VIDEOS, BUT WHAT IS WRITTEN, IS ENOUGH FOR ME, WHAT A BARBARIC ACT, YOU REALLY HAVE TO BE EMPTY, TO ACT IN THIS MANNER, WHEN WILL ANIMAL CRUELTY EVER END, PEOPLE ARE LESS CIVILIZED THAN ANIMALS.......SICKENING...THE SAME THING SHOULD BE DONE TO THESE PEOPLE FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT CRUELTY IS ALL ABOUT !!

Too mny subhumans are a blight on the planet - to be human is to be humane and these subhuman monsters have failed the test. To many animals the devil is in human form.

Another thought:

The problem with email protests is that they can keep going for years and years... long after the issue was resolved. I would suggest that a cut off date of February 28th 2009... Give it your best for two weeks!

Ask people to give it there best and that after February 2009 it is too late... and ask people not to change the deadline date!

5199 Sayili Hayvanlari Koruma Kanunu 01 Temmuz 2004 tarihinde Resmi Gazetede yayimlanarak yururluge girmistir.

5199 sayılı Hayvanları koruma kanunun 14. maddesine göre ;

MADDE 14.

5199 Sayili Hayvan Haklari Kanunu boyle der. Oysa ki;

Asagida linki bulunan videoyu lutfen izleyiniz…

I do agree with Rogues! We have local elections in March and these are the days that they will listen to us!
I manage to put the news on prime time news for tomorrow and started to spread the letters in Turkey.
We should send the 2 letters as much as we can.
I have some other news I will share after I am sure of them.
Won't give up on wolves and the process of delivering the stuff they called humans on the video to justice.
Thank you for your support. Thank you Rogue, Marc, Annn Dusty... Thank you everyone

Ray,

Sounds as if you and I need to stop off at Target World in Sharonville and punch some holes in paper!

Non-violent methods are always best which is why I wrote the letter in that manner. Notice, it doesn't have a single threat!

I couldn't get the video downloaded, but really, I am thankful that I didn't. When will people realize that if animals are treated this way, this is how the humans treat other human beings. Yes, we supply food to unfortunate people caught in floods, war etc., but, how do we help educate these lowlife, cruel people?? St Francis where are you??

I was sick to my stomach just reading the description of this video! This is heinous, revoliting and extremely inhumane! How can anyone be so twisted and sadistic to an innocent animal?! But of course, humans are the only species that kill and torture others for mere pleasure,so why should we be surprised? Furthermore and sadder still,we have someone just as cruel doing very similar things to our wolf population right in our own backyard;her name is Sarah Palin.I just really hope that someone will put a stop to this unnecessary brutality as soon as possible and not just to our beloved wolves, but to ALL animals! And thank you especially to Asli and Rogue for all of your unflagging efforts.Together,we can make a difference.

Rebecca you are so right. We have the same thing going on in the USA. It is just as cruel to run them to exhaustion with an airplane out in the open where they know they cannot escape, shoot them, and heartless to pull their little wolf pups from their dens and kill them. Alaska is like the last wild frontier and tragic that wolves can't live there without some human deciding they know better how to manage the wildlife.

I have written to my embassy asking for the ambassador to investigate before I consider having a holiday in Turkey - not that I'm ever likely to go. Turkey is known for human rights breaches so a couple of wolves won't hit their radar! Still, all we can do is try.

Beatrice,

If you would notice, out of all of the email addresses provided... only 4 were having problems and we are now up to 6 that are having problems and that is because the mailboxes have been filled with protest letters!

Individual protest letters will be more effective vs one protest petition!

I could not watch, I can not rationally handle such sh*t..... How could anyone harm these beautiful creatures? I know people do it here in the states as well; pitbulls, cock fights, etc.... so much pain for these innocent creatures.... we are the enemy..... we are the virus that festers upon this earth.... This kind of stuff saps my energy, makes me sick and tired.
Thank you Asli, my dear friend Rogue and everyone else for spearheading action against these animal terrorists......

I watched the video..I have cried and am so angry and feel such shame that humans can be so damn evil. How can anyone enjoy that??? I feel sick to my stomach. I cannot watch the video.Cowardly of me..no. It just tears my soul apart. The wolf is my spirit animal, a part of my connection to the world, and I simply cannot see another tortured wolf, animal by human beings.
Just when you think the the human animal cannot get any more vile, here comes another one. The human race is not an intelligent species, it jsut destroys what it cannot control or conquer. That we haven't killed the entire animal kingdom off yet is amazing.
I will write letters as soon as get up in the morning...its late, and my heart aches at the cruel torture that man can conspire to committ against another living creature. And for what? Not for a damn thing except for their ego and self rightegiousness (spelling?). Frankly I don't care what nation you are, what religion, what political leaing, how much money you make or if you even have a faith or a God...what I do care about is if you can continue down this path of animal slaughter without forever consequences...and the whole human race will suffer for it....as we should. We will never stop this madness until we can get along together as a human race....

These are evil people! They should be treated the way they treated the wolf. I love wolves! They're wonderful animals and worth to be protected. In my country many people are afraid of wolves, that's the church's fault. Wolves should be respected as big predators but also animals which could be dangerous if they want to have the right to exist. All animals exist for a reason.

People are the worst animal on this beautiful blue planet. Deviant behavior like this, i would presume, has always existed - as in where there are people there are atrocities. Today, we have more people (ack!) and better technologies allow the rest of the world to know what is happening elsewhere. Too bad we can not ALL be Human Beings!

" compassion is the chief law of human existence " Fyodor Dostoevsky
This law applies to animals as well as human.
We should be just as outraged and writing letters to Israel for killing all those beautiful innocent children.
Think of those children as kittens whos life was snuffed out with Israeli soldiers being congratulated for a job well done..

I am completley bemused as to why " human beings" would want to see an animal suffer and be mauled to death. Its is beyond comprehension, and speaks volumes for the state of mind of the people of Turkey.
As to the inane comment by Lili Ochota, it doesn't bear thinking about. If she cannot understand that defending your house and property is one of the prime needs of all humans, then she better go to school all over again and learn about Maslov and the human needs!!!

Lili..

It is a fact that the cruelty to animals is 100% link to the cruelty to humans. If humans beings can easily snuff out and torture innocent animals, then they can torture human beings.
Stan is correct in his comment, not that you should be ashamed of yourslef, but have to stop and stink about all living creatures....

I think you mistaken in the understanding of the quote you used...
" compassion is the chief law of human existence " Fyodor Dostoevsky"

What it is means is if you cannot extend that compassion to animals how can you extend it to humans. WE are all connected in this web of life, and those that cannot have compassion to animals, how can they ever have compassion for any living creature? If you remove animals from the equation...you removed all compassion for anything.
Yes human children are being murdered...but that again comes from mans greedy goal for religious power over another...HUMAN POWER OVER OTHERS.
This concept of human lives are more important than animals is an argument that will never be won until COMPASSION APPLIES TO ALL LIVING CREATURES...NOT JUST HUMAN SPECIES.

"Every year tens of thousands of animals suffer and die in laboratory tests of cosmetics and household products...despite the fact that the test results do not help prevent or treat accidental or purposeful misuse of the products. Please join me in using your voice for those whose cries are forever sealed behind the laboratory doors." ~ Woody Harrelson, Actor

"The brute animals have all the same sensations of pain as human beings, and consequently endure as much pain when their body is hurt; but in their case the cruelty of torment is greater, because they have no mind to bear them up against their sufferings, and no hope to look forward to when enduring the last extreme pain..." ~ Thomas Chalmers, Scottish Religious Leader

"True benevolence or compassion, extends itself through the whole of existence and sympathizes with the distress of every creature capable of sensation." ~ Joseph Addison, English Poet

"A man is ethical only when life, as such, is sacred to him, that of plants and animals as well as that of his fellowman, and when he devotes himself helpfully to all life that is in need of help." ~ Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Alsatian Theologian, Musician, and Medical Missionary

"My doctrine is this: that if we see cruelty or wrong that we have the power to stop, and we do nothing, we make ourselves sharers in the guilt." ~ Anna Sewell, English Novelist

"First they went after the Communists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Communist. Then they went after the homosexuals and infirm, and I did not stand up, because I was neither. Then they went after the Jews, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Jew. Then they went after the Catholics, and I did not stand up, because I was Protestant. Finally, they went after me, and there was no one left to stand up for me." ~ Martin Neimoller, German Pastor who spent 8½ years in a Nazi concentration camp

"He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." ~ Immanuel Kant, German Philosopher

"The assumption that animals are without rights, and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance, is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality." ~ Arthur Schopenhauer, German Philosopher

"Of all the creatures, man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he's the one that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creature that cannot." ~ Mark Twain, American Novelist

"You have to love animals for what they are or leave them alone. The best thing you can do if you love them is leave them alone and see that other people do too." ~ Pat Derby (1942- )

"What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected." ~ Chief Seattle American Indian Duwamish Tribe

"True human goodness, in all its purity and freedom, can come to the fore only when its recipient has no power. Mankind's true moral test, its fundamental test (which lies deeply buried from view), consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals. And in this respect mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle, a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it." ~ Milan Kundera, Czech Novelist

"If only we can overcome cruelty, to human and animal, with love and compassion we shall stand at the threshold of a new era in human moral and spiritual evolution - and realize, at last, our most unique quality: humanity." - Jane Goodall, Author of Reason for Hope

By every act that glorifies or even tolerates such moronic delight in killing we set back the progress of humanity." ~ Rachel Carson, American Biologist and Novelist

But the time will come when inhumanity protected by custom and thoughtlessness will succumb before humanity championed by thought. Let us work that this time may come." ~ Albert Schweitzer, Alsatian Theologian, Musician, and Medical Missionary

"Take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." ~ Elie Wiesel, Romanian-American Writer

"If a good relation with God makes people good and benevolent in their relation with animals, for its part, benevolence toward animals could awaken in man's heart feelings of admiration and praise for the grandiose work of the Creator of the Universe." ~ Marie Hendrickx, Theologian of the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

"Any glimpse into the life of an animal quickens our own and makes it so much the larger and better in every way." ~ John Muir, Environmentalist

"While we ourselves are the living graves of murdered beasts, how can we expect any ideal conditions on this earth?" ~ George Bernard Shaw, Irish Playwright and Critic

"We need another and a wiser and perhaps more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature, and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them [other animals] for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the sense we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren; they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of earth." ~ Henry Beston, The Outermost House

"The more that people live with animals, the more they know how precious they are and what they do to enhance our lives." ~ Doris Day, Actress, Animal Activist
"All that breathes is precious. Who is to say that the suffering of an animal is less worthy of solace than the pain of man? The spark of life is no dimmer simply because it is encased in fur or leather." ~ Anonymous

This is absolute one of the most heart breaking stories. I have a heavy burden in my heart for these animals. My faith in God brings me much peace for his word says that vengence is his and I know that his word will not return void for the people who have done such an horrific act of violence! They will get their due in God's timing. I'm certain of it!!!! These animals are sacred and will be watched over!!!!

Ray,

There is no doubt in my mind that you were just displaying your anger, that it was not meant literally!

Unfortunately, in today's society, our words can come back to haunt us. Over zealous prosecutors have no problem at taking our words completely out of content and using them against us!

Trial by media is today's mantra and that is before a jury is even chosen!

Again... I know that you were just voicing your anger and frustration... nothing more!

Thank you for all the letters sent to authorities. The news will be on tv but on papers as well. I am on the phone with some media of Turkey and they are really as shocked as we are.
In between I also found another cruelty video but I do not want to ruin your day even more.
The Turkish mail is being send by huge numbers and I hope I will have good information on Monday for you.
Need to call the Mayor of Mus on Monday and ask the latest news....

Thank you again for being you, for being human....

Asli,
I looked on the Haytap site , Is this a recent story of the wolf, as I have been told it is an old video ( 4 yrs ) , Maybe the person who has told me this is wrong.
Can you tell me please

Neesan I know this picture of your profile from Haytap, assuming you are Turkish. I am the Head of Anti Vivisection, Anti Fur and Wildlife of Haytap Federation. The wolf story that we are fighting about in Turkey (as I am A Turkish AR) is brand new. It will be on newspapers as well, you should read it. I am in contact with local mayor as well. the other 4 years ago story was another wolf. In Turkey the LAW states that when you do a cruelty to an animal, you go unpunished if no one owns the PET. So we are in the process of trying to change it.
The second video was on news last year.
The other wolf beaten and with a stick in the mouth, well that one has been SORTED as you said and the responsibles got a small money punishment. So if you think SORTING OUT is like that, well maybe you should think again..
Please do not interfere in our fight for doing something good in the sole purpose of stopping it.
And these lignes are written by me: a TURKISH AR

Please tell me that Turkey is not in the EU yet.... Both their Human rights and Animal Rights.. suck to the hilt... May the people who committ these hideous acts be sent to the highest punishment possible.... to benefit the common good of the animals and the one who do care abou them... they were mostly barbaric back when... and it looks like many still are...

Thanks Asli,Turkey needs more activists like you.I have sent letters-they weren't polite. How is it that these people are so dehumanised as to gain pleasure from this? How did they beleive that there would be no reprocussions for this vile and cowardly act?I agree with whoever above wrote that Turkey's urge to join and remain in the EEC,should be used as a lever ,to get the country to create and enforce tough animal welfare laws.
I'd like to see how some of this group of scumbags would react to a pack of howling wolves, they would shit their pants, like the cowards they are.

I do not much about the Turkish couture, but what I do know is that any culture that shows no mercy, no kindness or compassion for anything deserves little mercy themselves. Their justice only comes abut IF the animal is owmed by a human being? Wow...this is far beyond my concept of any civilized society. If they cannot spare any act of kindness nor compassion towards an animal how do they learn compassion for anyone else?
This is 2009 , and why haven't they openned their eyes to whats going on in the world. No country can ever have a hope for peace if they cannot spare compassion for other species. This makes me just palin crazy...this is wrong on so many levels....

"As custodians of the planet it is our responsibility to deal with all species with kindness, love, and compassion. That these animals suffer through human cruelty is beyond understanding. Please help to stop this madness." ~ Richard Gere, American Actor

Kronstad, Pommawolf, I think that the EU membership should be used to reinforce laws of Turkey. It really has to be that way. We, activist, will never be enough for making thins right. The animal right law is wrong on so many levels. Turkey is highly educated in some parts and really not in others . It is a country going from Europe to the Middle East with so many different cultures living in it.
I myself thinks that laws protecting animals are not enough in none of the countries. In all my busiess trip to England, I just want to save some monkey (my personal fight was always vivsection!), but England considers their lab animals like the property of the company and if you try to help them even by not direct action, you can face up prison, like 11 years minimum (see Shac). Same goes for US. On top of it, US, some states, are gassing the shelter animals...I live in Germany and Holland. In Germany when we do street protest, we are not allowed in any way to respond to the word attacks from the hunters, fur wearers, lab monsters etc, we have to be always quiet and take it. Why? Because from the beginning we are consider as criminals...
Having my Dutch nationality as well, I guess the most evolve laws are the Dutch ones with Animal Party sitting in the Parliament. Things can only get better like that... With power of the Politics...

I will send mails too.
I can't express my feelings any more...after sending letters for the sleddogs in Greenland...seeing the suffering of the greyhounds.
As a human being, I feel enormous greeve, shame and bitterness.
I can only make a promise, never stop fighting for the animals and I hope I can keep this promise, because the fight will be very tough.
Thanks Asli for all you do and thanks to Hazel, Claudia and all the others for sharing this.

These "men" are sick cowards and karma will give to them the same end they bring to the animals they cruelly slaughter. This is nothing short of PURE EVIL. I am an animal lover (I have 5 pets I dearly love and have had others, I help animals whenever possible [injured hawks and such], etc.), I have trapped animals (to assist in keeping their numbers in check to prevent disease in the population), I eat meat, long ago I helped my grandma to slaughter chickens, but putting the act of violence in this video on anywhere near the grounds of "normal" activity/involvement with animal rearing for food or keeping animal population numbers in check so they don't end up with cruel diseases (rabies, mange, etc.) - is a totally unfair assessment of the activities. These guys that were involved in this horrible act, I have no words that could possibly describe their evil. They will get their just rewards when Karma catches up with them. I pray that the EU is able to view this video and deny Turkey entrance to the EU community on this basis alone. These men may only be a few bad seeds, however it only takes one bad apple or potato to destroy an entire bin.

It says a lot of the email inboxes are full....that means we are succeeding in getting our messages out there. At some point they have to empty them, so I will try daily to resend them. I've also circulated a MySpace bulletin to my almost 3000 contacts there, asking for signatures on the petition and letters to be sent.

Asli, bless you for your tireless work on this. As we've said in our email exchanges, this one just haunts me. This wolf symbolizes to me all of the precious sentient beings around the globe who are are the "mercy" of humans, but humans who have lost the concept of mercy or compassion. It sickens me and haunts me.

My only weapon in this war on animal abuse are my words, since I physically am unable to get out and fight. But I wrote a piece a few weeks ago, and it seems to fit this very circumstance. It's posted on my MySpace sight and numerous people have asked permission to repost it to their own sites. But the passion I felt when I wrote it has been renewed in watching this horror, so I will share it with you, my Care2 friends. Sorry if I'm wasting space, but it helps my broken heart sometimes to just say these words again and again.

Bonnie

I Hear You

Creeping into my consciousness.
Penetrating my subconscious as I sleep.
I hear you.
Your screams in the darkness.
Your cries in my night.
Your desperate calls for help that never comes.
Only death, slow and agonizing.
Brings you final rest.
Merciful death comes slowly.
Agony, terror and pain precede it.
My heart aches for you.
My mind can’t wrap itself around the horror
That you, my precious ones, must endure.
But know that your screams will not go unheard.
Your cries and whimpers will not go unanswered.
Your terror and pain will not be swept away
With the last remnants of your being.
I cry at my complete helplessness;
My inability to take you in my arms
And give you peaceful reassurance.
That is what my heart aches to do.
My powerless inability to save you
Shatters my very soul.
But, I am here.
I am giving it my all.
I am waging the war that maybe some day
Will end this nightmare forever.
Until then, please know
You matter to millions of us.
We care beyond reason sometimes.
We battle daily for the change
That will silence your cries.
We are the warriors.
The ones who are fighting the battles
On whatever fronts we can find.
Our love and respect for you knows no bounds.
You can’t speak our language,
But we know yours by your eyes,
Your beautiful souls.
Your precious lives cut far too short
By others of our kind.
We will fight for you, my precious ones.
We will fight to our own deaths if need be.
I ask the Lord to please
Let you know somehow
I hear you.

Bonnie, thank you for the poem. It somehow helped me too, knowing others, you who wrote it especially, is mourning and crying over this atrocity. Your poem gives strength to us, and a memorial to this beautiful creature who suffered so desperately, with no one to help. We are with you. Witness, Speak and Demand Justice!

Just reading I start crying. I can't believe what "humans" are doing with animals. Every now and then I'm horrified. We have to do what ever we can to protect animals.

Asli,
Thank you for being patient with me on this issue.
I haved tried to have patience, and I do educate myself on other cultures throughout my life, and I have to say I honestly do not and will never will understand why any human being in any country or nation, religion, faith or belief system can ever consider any animal as a piece of property.
That any form of government anywhere has become so distant with its humanity. Why..in 2009 has any country, nation or whatever be so far from compassion and humanity.
I have heard every excuse under the sun for the last 30 years and it never fails to anger me at the cruel acts of man aganst other living creatures. I will never accept the excuse: "they don't know any better".
Thats a bunch of hooey. The excuse that they are poor, powerless and don't know any better. Compassion and kindness is learned behavior. Generations after generations teach cruelty, and if it can be taught, it can be UNLEARNED. It takes the governemtns responsibility to step up to the plate and say : ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. It is all about power and control. The only thing these political entities ever understand is "MONEY". If you strip away any money they can receive from other governments, nation or relgious organization. For that matter, if any religious organization gives this nation one single dime they ought to be ashamed of themselves for their lack of action, and NOT TEACHING COMPASSION TO THEIR FOLLOWERS.
Rich, poor it doesn't then the system is broken and has been for a very long time. These people lack conscience...no conscience...no empathy. This is so wrong on so many levels.....

Thank you Asli....

I receive the below rather disturbibg mail from a AR site called Companion for Animal. As a mass mail. It is very disturbing and using the political target he has for the poor wolves is very lame. Very low. He used my mail from here. So if someone is related to him here, I just want to know who?
I do not like animals to be used in political victories! This is the lowest of the lowest

Subject: TURKISH Wolf tied up and killed by pack of dogs for entertainment
Date: Mon, 16 Feb 2009 10:07:17 -0500

++++++++++++++++++ CROSSPOST FAR AND WIDE +++++++++++++++++++++++++++

TURKISH FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MUST BE FORCED TO STOP ANIMAL BARBARISM !!!!- Horrific video link below

Turkey has a federal law banning the killing of stray dogs, and Turkish animal groups have amassed enormous popularity and support in recent years, and Turkish media such as the Istanbul daily newspaper Hurriyet are repeatedly reporting on the horrors being committed to Turkish animals by the "other" types of Turkish people whom the educated Turkish class are ashamed of (just as we in the US are ashamed of the Nixon-Bush types of Presidents and their supporters). However, the Turkish federal government takes absolutely NO action against monstrous acts committed toward Turkish animals by those "other" types of Turks, some of whom hold provincial governmental offices. This gives Turkish people in general a horrible reputation as being a barbaric people, much like the actions of Nixon-Bush type American politicians have ruined the "good guy" reputation of the United States.

We ask everyone to contact Turkish consulates and embassies to tell them that you will lobby your US Congresspersons and the Obama administration to recognize the Armenian genocide as a result of the federal Turkish government's refusing to prosecute such barbaric acts toward its animals. Why link a politically controversial human issue with a humane issue for animals?

The Turkish federal government's BIGGEST FEAR is that the Armenian genocide will be formally recognized by the USA and Israel. Last month Israel notified Turkey that recent comments made by high level Turkish officials criticizing Israel may end Israel's support of Turkey's refusal to acknowledge the Armenian genocide. By threatening the Turkish federal officials with what they fear MOST, especially since the Obama administration has already stated that it intends to finally recognize the Armenian genocide, there is a chance to "get under the skin" of Turkish federal officials sufficiently for them to actually DO SOMETIHNG about such Roman Coliseum style entertainment still occurring in this nation with one leg in the past and one leg in the present. Let's "help" Turkey take the leg stuck in the past and place that leg into the future. Although my grandfather, a dean of a high school, who was never involved politically, during the Armenian genocide, was taken away one day for no reason and marched into the desert to die with thousands of others because he was "educated", I am urging this "linking" of the animal cause to the Armenian genocide recognition issue NOT because of my desire to see the genocide be acknowledged by Turkey but rather because I believe that the federal Turkish authorities would actually be "running scared" enough with such a threat that they would order the municipalities to STOP the barbaric acts against animals or face federal prosecution.

I have stated for many years publicly that it is factually true that some Armenians at the time brought the genocide upon them by taking up arms against their country of citizenship in hopes of getting Turkey to return the ancient Armenian homeland to them, and that the Turkish argument that the failing Ottoman empire at the time (the forerunner of modern Turkey) was unable to control the ensuing "mob rule" which resulted, is historically accurate. But regardless of how and why a genocide of 1.5 million civilians NOT involved with the armed Armenian revolution happened, it happened. Whether it happened by intentional Ottoman federal policy or not is NOT the issue.

The Incredible Cruelty to a poor Wolf

Please see the video attached.

http://www.iha.com.tr/haber/video/Guncel/3612-V-O-11/Vahsete-kahkaha!

The scene is in the Mus, a city of East Turkey. The people involved are chaining a wolf from the leg and making the dogs beat, attack, kill him. It is a long and painfull video. the wolf is crying for help from another almost dead one and the people are just having fun, aplauding, enjoying the criminal act.

WE SHOULD ACT against this. Let´s just not let this criminal act forgotten.
We should make Turkey aware that this kind of tortures should not be left unnoticed!

Asli and Rogue, thank you so much for all your work on this!!

I'd like to send the letters, but don't understand where the Turkish one begins or ends...and don't know who exactly should receive the letter in English and who gets the letter in Turk? Can anyone help?

Also, for those of you who feel obligated to make comments about U.S. politicians, please remember this is not about them...this is about cruelty toward wolves in Turkey. Please go to another group discussion if you feel you must comment about your feelings toward U.S. politicians who don't have anything to do with this.

I can't watch the video as just the description was too much to take in. I will however watch this post and help where I can.
It does seem to me that this would entail changing an entire culture. This takes place in Turkey where there is little regard for human life, let alone animals. It's heartbreaking to say the least.

It most certainly does have to do with politicians or lack of their help in dealing with this issue. Also people have a right to comment on what they want so I don't feel you have any right to tell people to go to some other group to do it!! You just opened your mouth and said a whole lot that doesn't sit right so why can't the rest of us?
Have a good day

Most of us are very aware that Our own politicians and elected representatives don't give a damn about ANYthing to do with animals, and ignore the legalized cruelty of industrial/institutional exploitors - but still, here, we need to rally against the blatant, unforgivable crime against these beautiful, defenseless wolves. I woudn't count on our gov. officials helping, but wouldn't hurt to try. My representatives are sadly uninterested in animal protection/welfare/rights. Let them hear from us anyway!!

pLEASE READ LETTER FROM PETA after my comments: RE: THE WOLF/MUS,TURKEY - ABOVE VIDEO)
I am so frustrated at PETA's response to my alert, which was some time ago, and they just now answered with this disappointing and surprising info:

Dear Sandra,

Thank you for your interest in PETA and Turkey's animals, and my
apologies for the delayed response.

We have received this horrible video and immediately forwarded it to our
colleagues at PETA Germany who are involved with Turkish animal welfare
issues. Local animal welfare activists from Turkey have informed PETA
Germany that this cruelty case had already occurred years ago; it seems
like the video is being circulated again. Therefore, PETA Germany can't
do anything to help this wolf unfortunately but they do support the
numerous other animals being abused and killed day after day -
especially innumerable homeless dogs and cats- in Turkey. Please help us
support homeless animals in Turkey.
Thank you for your continuous support for the animals!
(AND BLAH, BLAH BLAH, TELLING ME HOW TO SUPPORT PETA GERMANY/TURKEY)
Sincerely,

Rob Markham

Now, whats going on here? I understand this is NOT the same incident, as 2005, Kurt, the wolf, and told PETA that. Can anyone clarify this information as current and factual. The video, it seems, speaks for itself. Why would PETA say this is not an entirely different video/incident.?? Not that PETA is always right...B"Y any means.

Hi all,

I am very anxiuos and mad about the AR internal activites that hurts the cause we try to win. Some kind of wanna be AR of Turkey (not Haytap, I am with them) take this as a nationalist cause, some abraod takes it as Armanian and what happens? Well NADA! The Mayor just enjoys the way that AR just fight each other and listens to the ones who says that this is an old video. They prefer that version, less pain and work to be done!
Well I have a news! This is nit an old video- The one of 2005 was with 1 wolf, this is with 2! And The MAYOR HIMSELF told us that these kind of act are done in a general and lots of time as a FUN in the region. Even if it was 2005, that does not mean it did not happen. On the contrary, it is happeneing A LOt!!
I am sick by the way Peta, WSPA and all the other just want to believe in a fake or old video and not work for these poor wolves. WELL IF THEY DON T ; WE WILL!

You can find some english lines in the site attached how some small heads can turn this to a nationalism

It was very important to respond immediately to this brutal killing so that it is not encouraged. The video did not look old, probably taken with a cell phone. I have no regrets voicing my opposition, otherwise it will continue. CONGRADULATIONS TO ASLI G FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!

From what I conclude, the dates of the videos on iha.tr (Turkish Television ihlas Haber Ajansi) are November 09 and another one from August 09. The August 09 Internet Address is: http://www.iha.com.tr/haber/Guncel/3228-H-l
As these videos, to my knowledge, were not broadcast internationally, and no news of this reached USA, so therefore, I do not understand why PETA says they can do nothing to help, as per their GermanyPETA people said. Sad, and frustrating. Even if they published it on their websites, it would help spread the word of this atrocity. Puzzelment, and disappointment w/PETA.
