Boerboel cruelty caught on video

ALEISHA TISSEN

JOHANNESBURG - Swinging a pick-axe handle as if it were a baseball bat, a well-known member of the Middleburg community is shown on CCTV footage, in The Citizen’s possession, repeatedly striking a boerboel on the head, rendering it unconscious.

The man appeared before the Middleburg Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga yesterday on charges under the Animals Protection Act. He was not asked to plead as there are awaiting documents needed for the docket. The case has been postponed until August 14. He is expected to plead not guilty.

On December 31 last year Ian Lombard of the Middelburg SPCA was contacted by an employee of a nearby business informing him of a “stray, aggressive dog at the premises that had attacked and bitten the wife of the owner of the business”.

Arriving at the alleged dog beater’s office, Lombard found a male boerboel cowering in the corner. He later established the dog had not bitten the man’s wife but had jumped up at her after the man threw sand at the dog and made an attack gesture towards him.

Expecting growls or an indication of attack, Lombard carefully approached the dog. “I approached him with ease, put a lead around his neck and gently walked him out of the office. As soon as he started leaving, he went down on all fours, as he appeared scared,” Lombard said.

The footage clearly shows the man kicking sand at the dog as it urinates on a car tyre, the dog jumping up on the man and his wife and the man looking for a pick handle and bucket, taunting the dog and then hitting it with the handle until the dog collapses.

Once unconscious, the man again hits the dog and then inspects the pick handle for blood before walking away. The dog, in the meantime, has regained consciousness and is seen scampering from the video frame.

UPDATE
Footage exposes dog lie

ALEISHA TISSEN

JOHANNESBURG - Animal abuse shocks even the hardened.

Following yesterday’s article in The Citizen which uncovered the alleged abuse of a male boerboel, responses and offers of assistance have poured in.

Members of the public have expressed outrage at the abuse and some have offered funds to assist the SPCA ensure the alleged abuser faces the full wrath of the law.

After allegedly being hit repeatedly by the man with a pick-axe handle, the boerboel was removed from the property by Ian Lombard of the Middleburg SPCA. Lombard was initially told the dog was an “aggressive stray”.

Three months later, it was discovered that there was CCTV camera footage of the beating and Lombard immediately obtained a court order to remove it. “That I was given the wrong story only surfaced after I viewed the footage,” Lombard said.

The dog was euthanased 21 days after being removed from the property on December 31. This was prior to the footage being discovered.

Lombard said he could not with a clear conscience re-home the dog at the time as he was made to believe the dog was aggressive. “I was devastated after viewing the footage. This dog was not aggressive as he was made out to be,” he said.
=====================================================================================

Oh shame Lombard - you were devastated? Why don't you do your job properly in the first place??

There are tests to check whether a dog is aggressive. The only aggressive entitites in this story is YOU and the ATTACKER.

I hope the SPCA learn something from this - ask your USA buddies to send you the protocol list for testing whether a woof is aggressive - since you obviously don't know jack Sh...T !!

Folks sign the petition and also please comment on the SPCA's incompetence - protector tunred murderer!

The woof was PTS. The SPCA guy, 'Lombard' said he was led to believe that the dog was 'aggressive' and only saw the CCTV footage after the dog was put down. Is he a complete F.... moron???? There are tests to check if a dog is aggressive - but based on his 'hearsay' belief this beautiful woof was put down. Makes me wonder about how the SPCA actually runs their show, and how well trained the staff are! Disgusting end to a woof who was abused by a Middelburg hick SCUM here in South Africa, only to suffer further abuse at the hands of the SPCA. I not only support a heavy fine for this South African animal abuser, but I would demand an investgation into the practises of the Middelburg SPCA! Are we living in LALA land folks? Spitting mad here.

People like Lombard should find another career path. I'm not sure what that would be. I hope he never becomes a police officer though because law enforcement already has enough people in their ranks who don't bother to determine the truth. If Lombard does not care enough about the well-being of animals to do his job he should resign.

What needs to be investigated here is the way the SPCA is actually run. There are way of determining whether a dog is aggressive or not. As it turned out it wasn't the dog that was aggressive it was the man who beat him with pix-axe handle. Instead of the dog being put down, the man who beat him should be put down and the SPCA also charged with murder. I realize none of this is going to happen so how about a tough penalty for both SPCA and the man who beat the dog until the day comes when such crimes to the innocent, defenceless and voiceless are taken as seriously as the same committed to humans.

Okay, this is just damn wrong, period! I don't want to watch the video, just by what is being said here is sickening enough! How dare someone have that much HATE inside to do such a horrendous act on anothers SOUL, and yes, animals have souls! I am beside myself with wondering how people choose to live their lives on this planet with so much hatred!

I truly hope that there is justice served here to the subhuman that committed this disgusting display of HATRED, and that he gets the maximum sentence for not only abuse but KILLING this beautiful dog.

R.I.P. beauty, now your with the angels, no more pain from subhumans that don't care!

Signed #726 with such a heavy heart, will also forward my friend Eureka, thank you for caring so much dear...noted as well with tears. Thanks to you all here for caring too!

Claudia, the person who created this petiiton is new to this kind of thing. But in the text it clearly states that the petiton is going to the Middleburg SPCA.

So please disregard the target of '50 000'. I'm in contact with them - and the petition will go where it is meant to go.

The picture is NOT the woof in question, but an exact look-a-like.

What the woof dd: He peed against a car tyre. This guy then threw sand at him, into his eyes. The dog rose up - but did NOT attack. And because he peed against his car tyre the man beat him onconcious and called the SPCA to remove the 'aggressive' dog. By then the dog had regained conciousness. The dog was held for about 21 days and put down, because the inspector (same guy who collected the woof) was led to believe the dog was aggressive! The CCTV footage was only discovered/viewed afterwards, clearly showing the dog was not aggressive and showing the man almost beating the dog to death!

For this - the dog was killed. It is not the dog's fault that it was not on a lead. One wonders where the owner was!

Eeeessshhh!!
