When Laura Gernell heard about a place where people gave away perfectly good things to strangers -- no money changing hands, no questions asked -- she figured it was too good to be true.

I've used freecycle many times, mainly to give away things like furniture no longer used, old baby clothes, and even formula coupons that I don't need anymore.

I'm on the donating end, and it's good to hear about another way to clean out our very cluttered garage and have it go to people in need. Donations of one man's "junk" is another man's "treasures".....

I love freecycle. I can't count how many things I've given away and received. Infact, the computer desk I'm using right now, I got off of freecycle. *recycle2*

I've been a freecycle member for YEARS! My dad introduced me to the group and it has been a godsend in giving AND receiving!

I've been using Freecycle for a few years now. It's a great idea for recycling, and people are able to get usable items that they need. Thanks Plyllis.

I've heard of this Phyllis:)
It sounds like a good thing.
But this is a first:) If it's too good to be true it usually isn't a good idea:)
Just my opinion
Wish I still had that letter that one joker mailed me claiming to have 500 million to share:)
I trashed it.

Kathy, freecycle org. is for real. I am a member of one in my area. But just like any place on the Internet spam can be a problem. Sounds like what you received. I use to get those kind of emails too. Just delete them they are worthless. You would be surprised at the people who fall for that kind of mail.

OK, got itlate last night. Too late to see straight enough to comment. I just found a group right here in my county and signed up! Thanks Phyllis, we have a barn/garage full of furniture and all kinds of stuff from three of us! Sunshine Ray, thanks for the heads up you provided to assist me, I appreciate it.
I STILL HATE COMPUTERS!

I just read this article and came here to make sure it was posted for everyone else. So glad that you got there quicker, Phyllis! I've been hearing about FreeCycle for months and just finally joined last week. Only listed 2 things to get rid of, but there'll be more! And, of course, I've written about 15 people to see if their items are still available... Wish me luck!

So glad that somebody posted this for everyone to find. I had just read it myself and wanted to make sure that it was here. I've been a member of Portland FreeCycle for a measly week, but I'm trying to pick up a desk, chair, rug, and give away kitchen-ware, a coffee table, and help people turn their cell phones into places that recycle them and give the money to charity! Everyone should try FreeCycle!

I have been part of the freecycle community for some time now and find it to be a fantastic place.

Sounds like a great idea. I wasn't aware of it until now but I travel back and forth from here and there and besides I am blonde and it takes me awhile. All kidding aside, if I can land in one place long enough, I will certainly check this out. Thanks Phyllis for the story.
