NORFOLK, VA. (WAVY.com) -- A Newport News woman who was driving across the Berkley Bridge says when the span started lifting with her on it, it damaged her car and scared her so much she's suing.U can sue for anything these days!!!!! GEESH!!!!!

Any drawbridge that I have ever went over, always gave a warning with flashing lights. This woman sounds like she thought she could make it in time. She felt the vibration of it opening. She knows all about drawbridges. Just wants some easy money. Noted with disgust. Thanks Ginger.

This happened to my Mother In D. C. ~ with all my kids & I, plus my sis-in-law & her kids. AND, she even got through the "warning gate" SO...the front of her van was only a foot or 2 from the verticle bridge part! Sis-in-law were always leary of bridges! Somehow, though, that incident was such a bizarre rush that I got over such fears - very weird!!!
