These easy to view charts did not go un-noticed by me that as the troops increased, the spending increased, both charts showing the lines going up, so also did the us troop fatalities also increased.
How many of our sons and daughters must we loose to these wars? What is the count that is too costly? Then the financial cost to this already crippled economy. How devastated must our communities get? How much further does our educational system need to deteriorate? How many more must suffer without health care? The list goes on.

Thanx agail Dandelion. And yet this is only the financial costs and the losses of human life, what about those who come back injured and disabled for life?

Wish it were just so simple... in fact wars are caused by a source of pride... and fear... The financial cost of this war is simply not worth it... and life is priceless so one cannot buy that...

So true Arild, this is the financial cost, what value can be placed on a human loss to a family who moarns their son, husband, or Father, or sister? As this was a primarily cost of war in dollars stories, it can be stated that the injured who do make it back is also at a cost to our society in their need for medical care, the loss of productivity from them, the cost to retrain them if possible depending on how badly injured.

Man, this is a tough one. Noted.

The cost in human lives and the casualties are always the most imperative to me.

I also have one problem (among many) here:

Gen. Stanley McChrystal was part of the cover up regarding the death from friendly fire of Pat Tilson. Remember him?

If Gen. Stanley McChrystal could lie (for which he later apologized and admitted he was rightfully ashamed of) to cover up the real reason for poor Pat Tilson's death in order to help that current administration save some face, what might he lie about regarding this Aghanistan debacle?

I'm sorry, but I find myself wandering around like Diogenes these days, looking for an honest man. Is there such a thing?

I hope Obama doesn't get pressured into making a rash decision here. I want him to take all the time he needs to make the RIGHT decision.

Mary

The cost in human lives is also imperative to me Mary and I fully appreciate that sentiment, my own son is in the army, I fear this daily. But we must look at all costs to wars, this story primarily is on the financial cost, which many people may or may not be fully aware of.
When we cripple our economy with the financial cost to keep the war machine going, we also have our youth feeling less hope, which leads some to alcohol and drugs, which in turn leads to their early death. We also have youth turning to the military for jobs to feed their families or themselves, this keeps the war machine going. To not view the financial and how it impacts and plays upon our society, how it also continues to take lives on and off the battlefield should not be lost on this society.

You are right, Dandelion. I'm in total agreement with you on this. We mustn't overlook the cost financially of this war for all the very valid reasons you cited.

(I guess I just had to get that "McChrystal" thing off my chest. It's been bugging me ever since I first heard about it. Maybe someone could open up a sensible discussion about it?)

Mary :)

There's big money in War, if you have the no bid contracts to make everything war.
Bullets, guns, tanks, ships, drones, planes, bombs, for anyone who wants to buy them
and as fast as you can make them.
Those poor, brave troops that are stuck in a plan of never ending war, for what???.
The poor people of invaded countries and especially all the USA taxpayers who get the bill.

No sane person would want any of this put on anybody,
but it's biz as usual for the evil layer(int bankers, secret societies behind the presidents' office),
( current and past ) who really rule the world. The rest are puppets on a string.
Auditing the federal reserve might expose some of the corruption but if the US dollar crashes
the industrial millitary complex will loose a lot of their powers to police the rest of us.

These WARS will never end until the US people have had enough and stand up and challenge the leaders
(so called leaders, what a joke )and challenge their plan of destroying everything
so a few at the top can make the almighty buck and line their pockets with blood money.
They are out of control and will say or do anything to get re- elected. What a shame !!.

Thank you Dandelion.
The people really do hold the power to change things if they would only WAKE UP
The 350 or so Senators are scared STIFF of the 350 million or so citizens but the people don't realize that.
You know the truth has been in front of us for Centuries but most don't see it
hiding in plain view.
More people have to report on Bilderbuger and other hidden agenda's and get that info OUT THERE.
Like in the videos on jordanmaxwell.com who has spent 48 years tracking all this stuff states,
"it's already to late for the human race" unless we collectively WAKE UP , and FAST.
It might be to much truth for some if you do a search on Jordan Maxwell and watch the interview on him done by Project Camelott

I don't feel as sorry for the little girl right under one of those American Bombs, as I do for the mother of the little girl, that is laying there with one leg and half an arm gone, covered with blood, watching the space, in time and space, that her daughter used to occupy.. and wishing,.. you were here, in her spot,.. and she was waiting in line at the drive thru, for 20 minutes waiting for a coffee, saying how rough things are in the USA, ..
.. having to wait for 20 minutes for a coffee, then getting the wrong coffee, cause the kid at the take-out window,..
, has no brain ,,.. Like the conscience of North America .. = .. P A T H E T I C .
