The ultimate tyranny in a society is not control by martial law. It is control by the psychological manipulation of consciousness, through which reality is defined so that those who exist within it do not even realize that they are in prison.

I agree with the article on the point that if we do nothing, then we and our children will lose a lot. However, I am currently optimistic given that when people work together for a cause, it often succeeds.

Noted and thanks for the article, Dandelion... I could give neither you nor Patrick a green star this time, although you both deserve one. I worry, not so much for myself, but for my children and grandchildren who are going to be facing some terrible odds if things don't change. I know, we as a people, can bring about change if we'll all join together and work for a better life... if we can convince those, who have been brainwashed into believing the lies they've been told, to open their eyes and see the truth as it stands before them... not only in this country, but throughout the world.

As the writer said Patrick:
So, if things are so completely hopeless, why have I taken the time to put these words before your eyes?

Because I want you to prove me wrong.

I want the People to take back their power and use it for the benefit of all humanity. I want us all to stop participating in our own destruction.

I do want to prove him wrong and I tend to be an optimist as well but within that one must be a realist and to know that without effort on all our parts wishful thinking isn't going to do it. You were the only one I could give a star to Patrick, gee you have all just been such star powers that I've run out for all of you.

Things will not change on their own if we the people do not step out of the comfort zone & start demanding our right & freedom that are rightfully our to have! To let this continue is pure INSANITY on all citizens parts! What kind of nation have we become if we let tyranny rule our lives? And giving our power away to be controlled by the likes of EVILS! I will fight this take over, till I am no longer physically able to make a difference, until then I will fight the NWO! God helps those that help themselves! What have we done except rave & rant! Time to start acting & claiming what is rightfully ours!

A very thought-provoking article and the ideas , though not new, are presented well. As long as we believe that buying things is the only way to save the economy, we are enriching those who seek to enslave us. Sad but true. And the economies that are being helped are those to whom the corporations (whom we subsidize) outsource jobs, labor and material.

The media does continue to distract and divide us and until and unless we literally wake up and shake things up we will continue to hurt ourselves and our families. I find it so hard to believe that the 2% can so completely control the 98% of us. We must keep speaking out, educating, reaching out, refusing to let those who would divide and destroy us win.

Yep, we are in hell.

This world fits every definition of hell.

The worm dieth not ----- everyone has pain.

The world runs on the energy of fire called Sun

And people are the demons!

Hallllloooooo! Is there a God out there?

Can we negotiate? Will you help us?

What do you mean we kicked you out!!!

We can change things and must make changes for our children and their children. Speak out wherever we perceive injustice of malfeasance. Try to make our votes count by electing those that we feel will rectify past wrongs and not those that promise to give, give, give. We have to do the hard yards of necessity - to make the future better for those to come.

Do we want to be part of the collective? Do we want assimilation at any price. We all have free will - once that is taken away we will end up pretty much like the Eloi in the Time Machine - to do our Masters' bidding and be fattened up like cattle. We will cross the Rubicon eventually but it will be to a far better understanding spiritually than we have now. At this moment in time Freedom weeps and Waiting Justice sleeps -but this will pass.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, while it has been said in other places I thought this was written well and very clear. Also can we say it enough? There are still new people who come onto our friends lists that may not yet be aware, there are new people coming onto Care2, so this article for them may be the first exposure to this. Is why I try to support others stories by at least noting. I may understand the article, but I do think of getting it to front page as someone else may not know of it. Many only check the front page stories.

Thanks Dandelion. This reminds me of Plato's Allegory of the Cave. Until we use our own minds, everything is an illusion made by the puppeteers upon the cave wall. They control what we need and want, and think we need and want. Needs and wants are not interchangeable.

Excerpt... Plato’s point: the general terms of our language are not “names” of the physical objects that we can see. They are actually names of things that we cannot see, things that we can only grasp with the mind.

Our minds are the only defence we have against those who would control everything and everyone.

Same goes for the "fashion-cloak". Who dictates us what's fashionable and what isn't ? It seems also that music connects us rather than it divides us like "speech" does.Try to follow your own oppinion ; try to look for something we have in common, rather to look for matters wich divides us. We all want to be happy...voila. As long as we fight injustice, there's still hope for mankind....(thinking of the future residents on earth). Thanks Dandylion!

this is what disturbs me: in order to have a better government, the people cannot leave it up to the elected officials to do the work. a government of the people, by the people and for the people means that the people are supposed to actively participate in the governing of themselves. elected officials will not be the saviors, they never were. the problem with todays politics is that people elect the politicians and then the people go to sleep. for example, obama promised a change in the cabinet that would oversee the securities and exchange commission. is there a new cabinet or is it the same cabinet that permitted the banks to completely run amok with our money? it's the same. obama's stock portfolio includes jp morgan bank, a federal reserve bank that controls our economy. why are we not demanding our politicians to sever their ties to wall street? nancy pelosi is one of the biggest corporate whores of all time, owning stock in pharmaceuticals. and we wonder why we don't have a decent pharmaceutical program for seniors? why is it on the books that medicare is still unable to negotiate better prices for pharmaceuticals? that was a bush policy. why is it still in existence? that policy should have been wiped out the minute obama stepped into office. in europe, some of the countries have passed laws making it illegal for them to target children under the age of 10. how many commercials here in the states are specifically targeted at children? the psychological game of advertising has got these children mentally incapacitated to resist the appeals of advertising and the incapacitation continues into adulthood because they have been programmed since the age of two to be in awe of colorful and bright messages and those messages must be good, therefore, we must buy the product with the colorful and bright message.

if you really want to see a change in the policies that govern us, then each of us must get involved. i am sick and tired of hearing only 38% of the voting population turned up at the polls. it's the people's fault we are in this mess because we have been asleep at the wheel for many decades now.

We are destroying our self unless we wake up from slumber and stop this down fall other wise the present politicians are set on course to destroy the nation their policies are worst then of Hitler, so it times that we bring the change and and save our country before we all go down the drain

I remember several presidents alluding to...if I knew then what I know now! Obama and Clinton are brave folks on this earth gone mad. Stop the madness and help those who help themselves. It's all gotta spring from the grassroots. If 60 families powermong the US and another handful add to the Blooderberg Round Table, let's get the ball rolling. Three things can happen. 1) Boycott big corps 2) From the grassroots up...SPEAK, MAIL, GATHER, PROTEST 3) Elect honest people politicians which will create a struggle for awhile, but in the long run...we win. May the spirit and the force be with us.
