Signed and tweeted. I made a comment earlier about VAWA and how we are expected to celebrate the renewal of this law as if Congress had "given" us a gift. If it were Violence against men, it would long have been a Constitutional Amendment and not a law subject to hostage for political gamesmanship. Men pass laws telling women they can not have abortions, (about 2,000 abortion doctors left in the US) they pass laws to say, you can have contraception - if you can afford it. Have that baby and who is there to help with food, rent, health care, education? No one but your own family. No family? Tough, your on your own, no money for boots to grab those boot straps? Tough.

Thank you Sheryl for the petition - though I doubt it will make any difference to those in Congress who continue to oppose anything that would benefit the majority of the people. Kit, I LOVE reading your comments that always speak a clear and honest appraisal of the topic. You deserve a star every day for every comment and I know there are many who would agree with me! Stars to you, Dandelion and Angelica, always! ( sorry I can't name everyone who deserves them, it would be impossible.)

Signed (with a rather lengthy comment) and noted. Every day should be women's day, every day should be men's day, every day should be children's day, every day should be life's day. How is anything less acceptable, ever? The best advice I ever got was BE the change you wish to see in the world. That's a good goal, a good step. The trick is, how do we unshutter the eyes of the blind? And the answer is, love them into submission. One day we will. Promise.

Gene, I love your optimism! Every day should be all you mentioned, and more, including the animals and Earth, in total. I don't think I can quite believe (anymore) that we can 'love them into submission' as you promise, since the 'pacifists' have for so long tried to do exactly that. As history has shown, most don't have the fortitude to survive the brutal, evil and unjust stronghold that those who live by the sword and the "I've got mine, f*** you" mentality. It will take more than love and submission, it will take multitudes and a major victory.

Noted, signed with comment below, twittered and google shared. Thank you Sheryl and Happy Women's day to all!

Our future does not lie in gas and oil, dirty coal and outsourcing jobs overseas or wasting yet more money on wars, the Pentagon, and mismanagement of the budget crisis. It lies in strong families, investing in American projects and ideas, stronger protections for women and children, and empowering the public to be more involved in decision making processes. It is time you listened to the public and actually take our words to heart. The people are what matters, not big Corporations, destroying our environment, big money in Politics and divisive government.

I signed and tweeted it. I believe congress should be very careful about budget cuts. THey should start with cutting their own salaries. Then move on to many wasteful programs within the government.

Petition is signed to plea for consideration for those who cannot care well for themselves... whether female, male, young, or old. It lessens America's "greatness" to be increasing corporate welfare while eradicating programs that assist those who really need it. I can hardly feel "great" about America today.

I hope women will not lose their will toward caring and peaceful compromise in order to become "equal." Women are already superior in many ways, why lose ground by becoming equals of men!! (Only partly joking.)

Noted and signed by us both.... Women's Day is really a day for the whole world. It starts with a recognition of the value of women, a desire for the integration of women's values in our society and ends with healing. The health of our Earth depends on women rising to influence and sharing ideas and power with men. When will we learn that no one sex or species should dominate the others? We need our compassionate, combined strength to rescue our beloved planet, its inhabitants and ourselves. As we hover at the brink of extinction, we still have choices... let us take the torch and lead into a new time of peace and prosperity. Sounds too simplistic? Think of the alternative..... Women, grab your power and don't look back.
