Can't say this enough.....as far as the men are concerned ; I don't think they have a "dog in that fight" and until they grow a vagina, they need to shut the H up and quit legislating laws that concern our bodies

Their care for the unborn rings hollow, since their lack of care for the BORN does not coincide.

So much for freedom to speak. Maybe if we can toss out the people who have held these offices for so many years they don't even bother running a campaign, maybe we can once again have a semi-democratic government. She was pulled away from the podium because Jane Nelson didn't like what she had to say? Tough beans Jane, you too are on the hit list of people that must removed from office.

I love this young woman, threw away her prepared speech and spoke right from the heart. When Jane Nelson was trying to cut her off, Sarah asked is this cutting into my time, when told yes, she said then I'll just talk over you. lol YOU GO GIRL!

Jane Nelson - my Texas senator and I have never once voted for her. I wish you guys could have seen the many that did speak, and how badly treated they were.

Sarah Slamen was on Lawrence O'Donnell show last night and she mentioned that on his show, how she had sat for hours waiting her turn and watching how awful the citizens were treated. Is why she threw her speech away and just spoke from the heart.

Oh, sorry, Sheryl. I neglected to thank you for the posting.

Personally, I think women should be in charge of their own bodies and decisions about a woman's should be made by her with the advice of her doctor and men should learn to respect that point.

How would men like women to legislate decisions about men's bodies and take a man's choice away from him????? I think men would object to that happening, don't you?

Thank you Dandelion. I watched Laurence last evening and agree with Kit...as usual. Yes, the Sisters are STANDING UP... FIERCELY! I feel they always have and are now being heard. There are men who respect women and need to STAND BEHIND THEM. LOUDLY!!!
We need to CLEAN HOUSE.

It's so distressing to see the horrific pains one must go through to demand human rights in this country -- it's really appalling that we are so backward in our health system that we can actually sacrifice an entire gender of people to demeaning policies - but I guess we must adjust to the ignorant, the abusive, and the people who simply want to make the poor suffer and to control this country as long as we permit it!

Nelson is a former school teacher and my heart goes out to those who were her students. Nelson show all the signs of being CONTROLLING and nothing will be allowed to be discussed that she does not agree with! To boot Nelson is a double dipper, benefits from her "not teaching" and now from her current position. Nelson really is eating out of our tax trough and by the looks of her, eating quite well. Ms. Slammen is incredible! Courageous, strong and not daunted by a bully like Nelson nor the 4 moronic cops. Ms. Slammen needs to run for office. By the way in a state that LOVES the second amendment, what happened to the FIRST AMENDMENT - FREEDOM OF SPEECH? Oh I forgot it is Texas, silly me. Sharia law may seem as something that only happens in the Middle East to Muslim women, but we women here in America are losing our rights to the Christian Taliban. Rick Perry along with many other GOP idiots are leading the pack.

This is a stunning example of what is happening in our country. The young woman waited all day to speak and then was ejected when the senator did not like what she was saying. Politicians need to get OUT of meddling in Women's health care and do something about the economy. It shames me that another woman treated her so badly. Thanks, Sheryl for posting.

It took several yrs but we did change polies for the better back in the 60s - I know I've said it before but it'll take action on more than one front to turn this country back around. Petitions are only effective if they are read and taken to heart.

Face it, nobody in TX government will pay attention, not when they feel so self-righteous. Nobody in the GOP-lead House will take notice - we're like flies they need to swat...and kill legally, by starvation, by lack of medical care, by any legal way they can legislate.

I don't see that she destroyed anything but her own argument. 1. She announced that she was moving to NY in a month, which undermined any credibility or standing she might have had 2. She claimed that she was abandoning her "eloquent" prepared remarks, then read a bunch of insults that had no bearing on the issue at hand.
Way to go pro abortionists! Stand tall for 26wk abortions, stand tall for abortion on demand at any time for any reason Stand tall for the argument you oppose when it comes to gun ownership ( More guns less crime) More abortion more safety. Don't you want maximum safety for women? Don't you want to obey "The law of the land" RvW no abortions past 24 wks and the subsequent law of the land, PPvKansas, any "abortion" after 24 wks requires a 2nd doctor in attendance to protect the life of the fetus? Of course not, proabortionists (prochoice for you politically correct obfuscators) are absolutists, abortion up to the moment of birth and snip their spines or cut them up in utero. Damn the laws, the Constitution, commonsense and the science of fetal development. If it is an inconvenience, kill it. What is the difference between a baby in utero and one out? Minutes? One has no rights, and the other all rights.

Freedom of Speech...???

Dandelion G. (386)

Don't you want maximum safety for women?

Yes, is why we fight for safe and legal medical procedures. There are many reason that these must take place after 20 weeks, our Government should not be the ones to choose that for us. This reasoning that the pregnancy might be inconvenient shows how little thought you give to each individuals situation. Sometime it is for the life of the Mother, I don't think that is a mere inconvenience.

Are you for MORE or LESS of a Governments interference? Seems like when it comes to women rights some people can't shove enough up a woman's womb. She threw away her "eloquent" speech as she watched in the room for hours, other citizens being treated poorly for their "eloquent" speeches. She pulled the gloves off as obvious, the Government Officials were acting like a bunch of bullies and disrespecting the citizens.

You don't want this safe medical care then opt out of it but don't dictate YOUR personal choice upon others that you do not have all the information on and about their private situation.

Always I hear about the life of the Unborn, well what about the life of the already here? You would prefer to go back to the back alley butchers and the coat hangers in bath tubs? Because desperate women and some female children that have been raped sometimes by their own Fathers, will try to do this medical procedure by their own hand if need be.

Very true Lee, if we permit it. We've permitted too much!

Bravo, Dandelion - What Cyan doesn't seem to realize is that we are not pro-abortion, we are pro-choice. What a woman chooses should be nobody's business but her own. It's odd to me how those who claim to be pro-life are so not....
And in my book, Jane Nelson is a traitor to not only her sex, but to decency as well.

Cyan you should be ashamed of yourself! A woman's choice to abort a fetus is a devastatingly difficult decision and one that leaves a permanent scar to the soul, however at times it is the wisest choice of all - not only for the carrier, but also for an unwanted child! Is the State willing to take on the cost of the unwanted child? ----- and while I go on about unwanted pregnancies, which are very rarely terminated so late in development, that is not the only reason for these clinics! There are a host of other women's health issues and family planning advice that are discussed and treated in these clinics that save women from multiple diseases and educate those who might otherwise never know how to address them!
Yes this woman had to move to my State to get away from the ignorant and hostile country of Texas!

Dandelion G. (386)
Friday July 12, 2013, 7:33 am
Thank you Lee for bringing up the fact that these clinics provide other medical services like screenings for cancer. For a lot of women without any medical care it is the only place they can get such help.

Cyan has on her profile page "Limit government by cutting Congress salaries and pensions and all other government by 25% of the workforce and 20% pay and pensions."

Amazing how she would like to send MORE people into lower wages so they can have difficulty paying for their children's food, clothes, and shelter, yet fail to mention that the MultiNational Corporations pay little to no taxes despite making billions in profits to set up shop here and also pay their workers slave wages. That our Government would at least like to pay IT'S workers a living wage and offer some benefits should be thought of a wasteful?

But even that too has changed because of the likes of people like her, the employees in the low level positions that work for the Government hasn't seen their wages rise in a long time. The upper end salary people well they protect themselves. Its always those who can least afford it that get the cutbacks done to them.

Did you know that many who are giving their life for this Country in service qualify for Food Stamps? They too are employed by the Government. You best start standing up against these ongoing wars by paying attention it might start by getting heads out of women's wombs for a chance and see the light, for if these employees of the Government can't feed their families I'm not sure how many will want to serve anymore if Food Stamps are taken away, and you'd cut back on their salary too.

Wasteful is the ongoing Wars that bring huge gains to those who Stand to Make Huge Profits off of it that send those same lower level Government workers children into them to be shot for those Greedy Heartless Ones gains. Wasteful is the purchase of planes that even the Pentagon didn't want, or the ongoing Drug War and the building of Private For Profit Prisons to throw more poor children into rather than spending the money on books and pay a Teachers salary.

But I don't suppose Cyan knows or cares about that, she is too busy, along with the rest of them that think in this way to have their noses into other women's business and sticking that Smaller or Limited Government up inside of their wombs.

Why is it you'd rather cut back Grandma's tiny Social Security check, take the food out of children's mouths, slash your fellow citizens pays, but never ever complain about the Banksters, the Robber Barons, the Ones who trashed this economy in the First Place?

Do you not realize that the Government is YOU? The We The People?

Why do you Protect the Un-elected Bankers and Corporate Thieves with their scams of various types that are spewing their toxic pollution into the ground, water, and air, as well as their toxic propaganda that convinces people to like it.

Is the Government working in our best interest right now, heck no. Why? Because these Greedy Heartless Ones have rigged the system. Has placed in their own MOUTHPIECES to do their dirty work and destroy all that we had in this Country. The Greedy Heartless Ones have done a nice job of convincing people to vote for all of these MOUTHPIECES and too many people have bought into it, with the drowning the baby in the bathtub approach.

Best rethink what is going on here because far to many are suffering because of it and it doesn't have to be that way. But the Plutocrats have done a great job convincing the average American to slice his or her own throat.

Folks you must have noticed by now, this is the new attack. Women abort because they don't want to get fat, or it's inconvenient, all of these ideas are completely fictitious but that has never stopped propaganda.
Pro Choice is NOT Anti- Life! Not one of these bills care a flip about the life of the mother and not one "pro-lifer" has ever given a flip about the life the child once they are born. Many of those children become what is now called a "taker".

All my peeps have already said my thoughts far more eloquently than I would have, therefore, I will refrain from commenting on this subject today as my BP is already sky-high......and I wouldn't be eloquent or civil to certain individuals. All I will say is this.....I am SO FRIKKEN GLAD I am spayed and had the foresight to have it done over 2 1/2 decades ago because I feared this exact crap would happen despite Roe V Wade. Wow! caustic!

Texas was known to me for decades as the worst possible place the worst possible society. Apparetly exodus is occurring from that crazy place. It joined the Union with the proviso that all its lands were privately exploited, and very little of the Earth there is common. Native species are cruelly destroyed, in Texan quest for complete exploitation.
Thus it's not any wonder that women are included as objects.

What an outstanding young woman! She is showing everyone, especially younger people that you don't just sit down and roll over.

Crooks and Liars has another video showing Texas state senator Jodie Lautenberg (R) yelling at Rep. Rafael Anchia (D) over his objections to her bill amendment that would kick pregnant women and kids off of CHIP. Of course this same senator is also anti-abortion or pro-life. Very incongruous stands --- can you say double standard that conflict.

The more i see of all this, the more it makes my blood boil. There seemed to be so many worried about Sharia law, but it is already in the US being used by various state governments under the sponsorship of the pseudo Christian Taliban --- the war on women and women's health for one place.

What do you call 500 Republicanus/Teabaggers at the bottom of the sea? . . . . . . . . a damn fine start!

Great comments on the thread with the exception of Cyan who appears not to know anything of value on the subject.

I have to send out so many Green Stars....so many of you already said everything I wanted to!!!!

I will only add that from a strictly medical point of view...I don't want to go back to the days of nursing that I have read about which involved such horrors as "coat hanger" abortions and "back room", "back alley" abortions by questionable "medical" personnel. These were the dark ages when desperate girls could be sentenced to a perforated uterus, facing death or sterility due to hemorrhaging or infection.

I also don't want us nurses to be put in the position of having to break the law in order to do our job, which is to provide medical care without judgment to our patients. I shudder to think of what a desperate girl might do to herself, or allow to be done to her, out of desperation.
