I was just thinking last night that it would be great to spend Guy Fawkes day in London!

I've seen (and been a part of) Occupy camps in a lot of places. So far 6 cities. And just by chance I saw the birthplace of Guy Fawkes in York (the original).

Keep posting this news D.

I'm all for peaceful actions. My fear is that those who hold the masses down, those who are destroyers of the environment, or commonly called the 1%, will not stop despite the peaceful protests. I think back......

On their first album Blows Against the Empire (1970), Jefferson Starship refer to Reagan's policies and attitudes as governor in the song "Mau Mau (Amerikon)," in which Paul Kantner sings:

You unleash the dogs
Of a grade-B movie star governor's war
While you sit in the dark
Insane with the fear of dying
We'll ball in your parks
Insane with the flash of living

Kantner's reference was to Reagan, an ex-B-movie, who had called on National Guard troops to quell a protest on the University of California at Berkeley campus in 1969, saying, "If it takes a bloodbath, let's get it over with, no more appeasement."

I watched how the Occupiers were pepper sprayed, clubbed, thrown onto the ground without mercy and tossed in jail for simply doing as our Constitution tells us we must. Civil Disobedience when we see that our Country is not going in the right direction.

I watched in other Countries the people being clubbed, shot, when they started peaceful protests. I also do recall Kent State.

I think on President John F. Kennedy's statement:

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
John F. Kennedy

We shall see. But I remain as I always have, in peace, but my voice raised. I can't be silent when actions are killing people, while a system is so tilted that so many go to be hungry despite how hard they work daily. For all of those who can't get medical care, who suffer in silence while injustices are inflicted without mercy on them, those who were and are being tortured. I stand with the Whistle Blowers, the downtrodden, the crying children, the despondent Elders. In Solidarity I Stand.

WHEN the talk most recently goes to Syria and what should we do about it. We should do's a civil war which means an internal war and doesn't mean for other countries to jump in.

Noted from Small Town MN...I remember Kent State, Ohio. The difference, our National Guards are more seasoned than those young ones - now, they know how and when to shoot. If shooting, it will be NO accident. Of course, some places will have the whackos with gun permits - those are the ones to be concerned about. Be careful ALL...Thank you Dandelion.

I also look forward to know more about November 5, 2013. I think all of us should set a day when we all refuse to buy anything for 24 hours. Shut down businesses that day because nothing is happening from banks to gas stations, restaurants, train stations, buses. The only requirement is none of us buy anything for 24 hours. If embraced I think we could ask for real change and be listened to. My problem is the corporations send in anarchists to cause problems and then blame the movement. I think that is why the occupy movement failed. The corporations take a crowd and then infiltrate it. Just an idea. Thanks Dandelion keep me posted. Noted.

GGma Sheila: I fully understand your concerns but we might want to look at it this way, because the National Guard are so seasoned, they might have an even better understanding who the enemy is, it isn't the average American. They too have been used and abused by this system and I think among them there is a waking up too.

As for those with guns that might have a screw loose, one doesn't have to be standing in a peaceful protest to be shot. 15 miles down the road from me a youngster by the name of Trayvon Martin was shot for walking home from a store with skittles in his hand, SWAT teams are busting down doors, often times wrong houses and shooting people, our children are sitting in class and being killed. There is reasons behind all of that, that I see those situations as symptoms of the greater picture....oh why we all need to stand up. The system is not allowing people to Thrive but instead react out of fear, anger, and a major inbalance.

You are correct Sherri that you don't see the massive Occupiers on the streets, after too many of them ended up in the hospitals or licking wounds from their non violent protest, they clearly felt the hammering of the tallest nail. However, don't think that Occupy failed, it began to change the conversation in this Country from us being the bad guys, we need to sacrifice more for those who created the mess. It started to shift to "hey, wait, why must we keep sacrificing when you, Banksters and Corporations, made the mess and you continue to do very well, and not being held accountable for your own mistakes." They started to shift the tide. Plus, they are still being Occupiers, they are now Occupying their Minds, getting educated as to what the low down is, they are passing this education along. Occupiers are now in every corner of this Country, quietly doing what needs to be done.

Along with taking to the streets is correct, don't buy anything that day or for as long as the protest lasts. If one can't be in the streets due to age or health, then at the very least support the movement with your dollar, don't spend it.

We need to start bartering systems with each other, if someone can mow a lawn maybe someone else can babysit in exchange, if someone can repair some broken stairs, maybe someone else can make a shirt for the work. Get creative, think, an underground economy that leaves out the 1% but helps the 99% is something we can also do, and when money is in short supply very necessary for our own survival too.

Thank you Dandelion. Unless I'm dead I WILL BE PEACEFULLY SITTING in front of our Government Building. It is not a large town but I have no interest in driving to the insanity of L.A. I have received news from Occupy since YOU introduced me to them a couple years back. They are everywhere and have not gone away as you shared and I feel confident are getting stronger and stronger and stronger. IMO I feel they are far more organized and I feel the younger generation is aware. Unfortunately there will be be innocents in the 'cross hairs', but as you so eloquently shared everyone (police) have been played as pawns and brainwashed victims???- to an extent. I don't have the empathy you have for anyone going into that line of work from an experience I once had but understand the need. MANY years ago I was vacationing in Cardiff By The Sea (north of San Diego) and sleeping on the couch with all my bags packed as I was going back to CO. for the season first thing in the morning. I AWOKE TO MY FRONT DOOR BEING KICKED IN. There was a suicide attempt at a DIFFERENT ADDRESS. Of course I was terrified and screaming. They shackled or hog tied me and dragged me to their car. All I remember was I wasn't wearing panties and my sleep shirt was around my head. As they dragged me the grass cuttings filled the cuts all over my body. They put me in a mental hospital and refused to allow me to even pee. I WAS EXPOSED WHILE THEY LAUGHED, INCLUDING THE JANITORIAL CREW. I shared this story 5 years ago and share it again to explain why I haven't the empathy you have. If I wasn't so traumatized I would have sued the shit out of everyone, but I was paralyzed in fear for many years. NO LONGER! Besides, my mum drove down (about 4 hours) and I was immediately released. I returned to CO. about 2 weeks later and felt safe again.
I had no idea Trayvon Martin's tragic death was just down the road from your home. As DESPICABLE and tragic this has been it must have been horrible for you as it happened in your neighborhood. The world is protesting each Monday and I am pleased...too many in the cross hairs, but NECESSARY!

So sorry for that horrific experience you encountered Susanne. I'm not sure where you got I was so empathetic with the SWAT teams, I think they should be dismantled, because they are too militant. Maybe one SWAT team of people highly trained per State that could be called for unusual circumstances only. Otherwise the police should handle things and remember they are there to protect and serve. That also seems to be lost. But this is all part of the rise of the Police State. It needs to go, along with the War on Drugs, which is actually a war on the citizens.

On Nov. 5th and ANY time:

WATCH OUT for any Black Bloc so-called "Anarchists".
They are NOT ON YOUR SIDE - they are EITHER PAID POLICE INFORMERS, or DUPES of the Informers among them.
[These Police Informers are RECRUITED thru the phoney War on Drugs - that's why the Feds won't give it up, even tho individual States want to! The Feds threaten a small-time Drug Dealer with the horrific Mandatory Sentencing - then keep HOLDING IT OVER HIS HEAD while he acts as their PUPPET in exchange for temporary freedom - but, the drug-dealer set free HAS TO KEEP ON PRODUCING WHAT THE FEDS WANT.]

The Black Blocs only use "Anarchist" jargon without meaning or Morality -
the Black Blocs, or similar groups, are there to INCITE VIOLENCE IN THE PROTESTORS -
and if that doesn't work, THEY WILL BE VIOLENT THEMSELVES.
Their PURPOSE is:
1] To DISCREDIT the Movement. "See, they are violent thugs!"
2] To GIVE AN EXCUSE FOR THE COPS TO ATTACK - and with the approval of a part of the Public {see above}.
Then, the Militarized Police won't look like the Bad Guys, attacking innocent Protestors, but will look like "Heroes" - "Restoring Order", don'tcha know.....

When you see Black Bloc tactics, try to ISOLATE THE BLACK BLOC - they always want to HIDE behind the Peaceful Protestors.
It is OK and perfectly MORAL, to NEUTRALIZE the Black Bloc - EXPOSE them for what they are, do RESEARCH on them - and STOP THEM PHYSICALLY FROM DOING "THEIR THING".
It's NOT a "Free Speech" issue, as the Black Bloc members always try to frame it....

If only the majority were to Protect and Serve. If only..... While training in the Sierras in the early/mid 70's I met a motorcycle cop. Over the years I adored him and his wife and 3 year old. We became very grand friends, as he truly had a GOOD HEART. They Broke him and within 3 years was "one of them". He shared his guilt as he was aware of what was occurring but his entire Heart and Soul changed...Survival I suppose. Forgive me for being so off topic. I WILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO BE BACK WITH MY FAMILY, C2!

Between NOW and November 5th:
What the 1% are going to try to do, is to Manipulate our Perceptions - thru the Media that they control! - and try to TURN US AGAINST EACH OTHER, instead of against the 1%!

We must STAY UNITED, and not let this happen.
The 1% used this tactic within the OCCUPY Movement, turning Men against Women, and Non-violent protestors into confrontations with those who were {in my opinion} DUPED into condoning violence.
{These were deliberately fostered confrontations and attacks, carried out by infiltrated AGENTS.}

In the case of November 5th coming up, the 1% are going to try to DIS-UNITE US ALONG RACIAL LINES. They are ALREADY at work on this, in the Media coverage of the Trayvon Martin case and its aftermath. The 1% and their Media spokescritters, will posit "Dangerous" Blacks against "Racist" Whites.
WE MUST REMEMBER OUR UNITY DURING THE CIVIL RIGHTS STRUGGLES, when Black people and White people and ALL colors worked together!

The 1% would like NOTHING BETTER than to TURN US AGAINST EACH OTHER and DEFLECT our Protests that way. They can be very subtle and tricky about it too, playing on deeply-held Fears and Paranoia. They know lots of Psychological Tricks.
Remember who your True Enemy really is, and don't be turned aside!

This is a good day my friends - each day is a good and beautiful day.

Here's a popular question posed to journalist Chris Hedges with his answer.
(A past Green Party presidential candidate once said to me that he had come to the conclusion that this appears to be the only answer.)

The answer is informed by understanding of history, of NDAA and the present elected leaders of the USA>

Question number six. Congress seems a wholly-owned subsidiary of the multinationals,
Obama is pimping for GE in Africa,
the Koch brothers have made a down payment on the Supreme Court,
and money will control the next federal election and most of the state elections.
Is there any scenario you see that will return this government to the people?

"Mass protests that begin to scare the hell out of these people and begin to disrupt systems that they care about, that really is the only solution. I think they're very fragile.

I think internally they know how corrupt they are, which is why they passed the NDAA, because they want to be able to pull the military on the streets, because I think ultimately they don't trust the police to protect them. And those are the sentiments of a dying elite.

So I think when we begin to organize against all the formal structures of power, I think that they may crumble as the Stasi state in East Germany, which when I was in East Germany appeared monolithic, fell in about a week, and it fell in a week because Honecker, Erich Honecker, the dictator for 19 years, sent an elite paratroop division down to Leipzig to fire on 70,000 demonstrators, and they refused to do it.

And after that, in the same way that the tsar sent the Cossacks in to crush the Petrograd bread riots and they fraternized with the crowd. Both Honecker and the tsar only lasted another week in power. And once the foot soldiers of the elite will not protect the elite, they're done.

And that's why we have to be nonviolent, because ultimately what we are doing is trying to create a paralysis within systems of power whereby we speak truth, we appeal to conscience, we expose corruption, fraud, flies by those in power so that when those forces are called into the street to stop us, they refuse to do so. That's how all revolutions happen.

And that's really in the end what I'm calling for. I'm calling for the overthrow of this system. Let me say that again for Homeland Security. I mean, that's what I'm doing. And I'm calling for it through nonviolent means, through mass protests, because as a father of four children I know that if we don't stop these forces, they will kill us. They will destroy the ecosystem on which the human species and my children depend for their life. And that is really the stakes that lie before us and why there is an imperative for all of us to take risks.

And I don't like going to jail as I have. Going to jail is more time than I care to donate to my government. But it really is the only option left, because if we fail at this, then it's not just this particular civilization that will be extinguished but human habitation."

Sheryl G (363)
Friday July 26, 2013, 8:02 am
I hope anyone coming across this thread reads every word you left above Michael.

Chris Hedges final words: "as a father of four children I know that if we don't stop these forces, they will kill us.

They will destroy the ecosystem on which the human species and my children depend for their life.

And that is really the stakes that lie before us and why there is an imperative for all of us to take risks.

......if we fail at this, then it's not just this particular civilization that will be extinguished but human habitation."

If there are groups already formed in your own Country tap in with them and ask them are they aware of the Nov. 5th protest date. You might have Peace Groups, Social Justice Groups, Women's Groups, Occupy? don't know if that exists in all places. If they are unaware let them know. Then see what they can do as an already formed group to join in on this.

Over here there is actions going to take place in Washington, DC and information is starting to come out that I will share along the way. The first step is to let others know of the date so they can be alerted and aware. I ask you let others know of this date, within your Country and out of your Country. Notify all Social Contacts and ask them to get the word around.

If you can't find a group to join, if one isn't near any major city, go to the local Governmental Buildings in your own town, make a sign that reflects what concerns you the most. Could be as simple as I Stand In Solidarity With November 5 World Wide Actions, or No More Austerity, or Stand in front of a Major Bank and Sign the Truth at them, perhaps GMO is a concern No More GMO's, the environment is being destroyed, Sign Could read No More Carbon Fuels Go Solar. Be creative. Do not buy anything that day or while the protest is going on.

Noted. The computer voice was a bit creepy, but the video was an education. A friend said that she just heard that Russia is working a 'deal' with the U.S. that, should Edward Snowden be exradited, that we will not give him the death penalty. Big whoop. Sheryl, a million green stars to you for posting this. We all know what we need to do, now do it! I will be supporting this movement everyday in every way. The time has come and we cannot afford to squander it. We will not lay down any longer!

Very interesting and timely information thank you Dandelion G.

SuSanne P, that is a terrible what happened to you and I am not sure if too much time has passed to actually take legal action against the treatment that you endured by police coming to your home by error. I suppose a lawyer would know if you are still able to take action legally, hopefully you still can.

Some police forces are not given sensitivity in training when dealing with those who are in personal crisis and trying to commit suicide - when they came to your home by mistake you witnessed to your shock how the police treat the mentally ill and endured their callous behaviours. They should all face the end of their careers with they way they behaved. It does not even sound as if they behaved legally.

Certainly peaceful protest always helps to draw the attention of those in power to the fact that people are fed up with what has been going on, along with the corporate world who think that the world is theirs for the taking.

Dandelion I tried again and was able to watch the whole video. Must have been too many people watching at the same time or something. Before now it would begin, get to 3 seconds then skip to the very end. November 5th is going to be a very interesting day worldwide, most people I know are very angry right now.

Video plug-in crashed - will try again later. Dandelion you deserve a whole basketful of stars for this and your excellent comments. I agree with GGma Sheila and BMutiny and Susanne P and you - be calm and alert and ALWAYS on the look out for people causing trouble! I can't be with you physically but I will be praying and praying and PRAYING that all goes peacefully and that the efforts of the 1% to cause violence - or to pretend that such has taken place so they can send in a violent 'reaction' will fail. God bless you all!

(Oh Susanne - you poor, poor thing - that must have been awful beyond description - how very brave of you to describe it for us - I do hope you can still sue them, simply because money and power are the only things that they recognise and it might [just MIGHT] make them think twice before abusing someone else. You also deserve a lot of compensation - but I know you and know that that would never figure in your motivation).

Pat A... Praying is pointless. Don't you have something better to do? Like protesting.

This is a Global Protest Pat A. and Guy Fawkes actually started in your Country of the UK. So there should be a lot of people gathering someplace in your Country nearby where you live. Let others know, get a group together and join in Solidarity.

More than time Susan, more than time.

As Howard Zinn said:

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of leaders…and millions have been killed because of this obedience…

Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty.

Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves… (and) the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.”

Or control the Country behind the scenes. The Criminals are running the show.

As long as they snooker us into trying to keep up with the Joneses, as long as wealth is glamor, as long as people fall for the B.S. of whoever dies with the most toys wins, the Fat Cats will have us by the noses. When we reject quantity and focus instead on quality, when we live simply and efficiently instead of trying to amass stuff, when we make ourselves more independent and self-responsible, we will win a major victory over the dark side of capitalism.

Remember, Remember,
the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, Treason and Plot...

Without questioning of our governments, we are doomed to dictatorships! We are the masses and we should be there questioning!
