A civics lesson took an unexpected turn for a group of New Hampshire fourth-graders when a lawmaker brought the abortion debate into their effort to name a state raptor.

No stratagem is too low, mean, cruel or nasty for anti-choice bugnuts. They'd eat kitten brains if they thought doing so would stop abortion.

I think the students have a better understanding of the seriousness of governing than some they were who consider it a joke and ordinary non-controversial bills beneath their serious attention. Most states have state birds--seems these legislators who spoke prefer to give the bird. Thanks Dandelion

What an idiot. He had to share his right wing, anti women view at the expense of those children.

Also, just another bit of proof that pro-lifers don't care about actual children or adult humans. Only fetuses.

I lthink it's important to name him.....New Hampshire state Rep. Warren Groen tore apart some 4th-graders' bill with an anti-abortion comment. about Planned Parenthood.

He has a right to his opinion....I guess. But it makes me wonder why these men are that obsessed with a women's reproduction that everything to them is about abortion and focus seems to be on anything that may relate to a woman's parts. ' It's rather creepy.

Agree with Jan B. and Freya H. and JL A. NH citizens have to stop voting these wackos into office.

Just when you think these jackazzes can't get any lower, they do. And fourth graders are smarter than you think, "not" groen up.

The GOP knows ONE SONG......''trample women so we look effective in our quest to regulate everyone's morality until it agrees with ours!"

Yeah, we do get tired up here in NH having to apologize for our politicians--at the state level AND one of ours was one of the 47 who wrote to the Iranian leaders. Please note: I did not vote for any of these, but I will apologize for my fellow citizens who take our motto "Live free or die" to the extreme.

Tina Taylor has placed her petition on a lot of news threads throughout C2. While I commend her want to obtain signatures I noticed that she never said she either read what I posted nor never mentioned she signed petition that was left on the story.

I politely asked her if she had signed the petition I offered, she never responded. When I saw her again posting her petition to a story I posted, I once more asked her if she signed the petition I had posted, but I can get no answer as she rudely blocked me.

I do not find that Tina Taylor is using C2 in the spirit of team efforts. I signed her petition but I do not like it when someone uses my efforts to post another petition and they simply drop their petition onto the thread and don't even sign what I left.....then block me when I inquire if they did.

What a jerk of a politician. Maybe those kids didn't understand that day the meaning but they will. These idiots focus on abortion instead of the "planned parenthood" part. Not allowing women to plan allows that part of society to keep women enslaved and in poverty. Let's face it these issues effect women's lives much more then the men. The same people pressing for all these lives to enter the world don't care if that same life after birth has food to eat home to live in medical care or education to thrive.

"It grasps them with its talons and then uses its razor-sharp beak to rip its victims to shreds, to basically tear it apart limb by limb . . . " well shame on that nasty hawk for actually consuming another living being to survive, it should know better and become a herbivore like a civilized hawk. And "tearing it apart" to get it into bite-sized chunks in order not to choke to death on it? Oh my God. It should've used a knife and fork to cut its meat up, like that so-civilized senator did to his own steak later. What? That cow was killed humanely!

Yes, the senator is entitled to his opinion, but you don't have to be crude and disgusting in expressing them. And to describe in graphic detail how another species eats its food to a bunch of fourth graders? jan b. was spot-on when she wrote, "New Hampshire state Rep. Warren Groen tore apart some 4th-graders' bill"--not unlike the way the hawk in his example tore apart its prey. So what, exactly, makes you better than a hawk, Mr. Groen? At least the hawk ate its prey. You just tore yours up and left it.

Noted. Thanks, Dandelion. I think it was Friday that Rachel Maddow did a segment on this-----unbelievable the depths of idiocy these excuses-for-human-beings legislators will stoop to. Almost laughable if it weren't so painful.

Seems like everything reminds him of a vagina. Maybe he has Viagra poisoning?

What an ignorant idiot. He should apologize to the grade school student who has brains. NH residents should keep this on front burner at the next election.
