It is time for everyone to remember Niemollers words, and speak out in support of anyone who becomes the target of this hate monger and his alt right cohorts. At the end of the day, Trump is coming for all of us.

Author to article states:

To see Donald Trump methodically lay into one group after another during the months of the presidential campaign has been to see Niemöller’s warning writ large across our screens. But during all these months, I haven’t noticed much speaking out by one group in support of another.

How many African American leaders are there speaking out against Islamophobia, Muslim leaders speaking up for Mexican immigrants, and LGBT leaders coming out to defend people with disabilities?

I have read many versions of the original poem, so I wonder which is for real. I suspect many people rewrite it with political intentions. However, the core message is true no matter which people "they" come for.

thanks, unsurprisingly this is not the the rule with everyone......too many only about "me now" or "we" where we means "my religion, my race, my gender, my sexual identity"........too many disagreements and wars in this world based on "differences"

Powerful poem. Trump is disgusting, Has no respect for others human beings. How he has made it this far, I'll never understand. The President is suppose to treat all humans equally Thanks Dandelion.

I know you don't live in NYC, Dandelion. I do. Many groups here speak against Trump's hate speech. I guess it just make the media in other media markets.

I have Afro-Americans as my city council member, state legislator, state senate member, and U.S. congresswoman. They all speak out against all his hate speech.

Glad to read that Patrick. Perhaps you can let the writer know, he asks for this information and provided a link at the end of his article.

The last paragraph of the article says it all for me:
It’s time for everyone to remember Niemöller’s words, and speak out in support of anyone who becomes the target of this hate-monger and his alt-right cohorts. At the end of the day, Trump is coming for all of us.

Trump is a symptom of a society that has lost sight of it's soul.
“Soon,” Bahá’u’lláh’s own words proclaim it, “will the present day Order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead. Verily, thy Lord speaketh the truth and is the Knower of things unseen.” “By Myself,” He solemnly asserts, “the day is approaching 162 when We will have rolled up the world and all that is therein, and spread out a new Order in its stead. He, verily, is powerful over all things.” “The world’s equilibrium,” He explains, “hath been upset through the vibrating influence of this Most Great, this new World Order. Mankind’s ordered life hath been revolutionized through the agency of this unique, this wondrous System, the like of which mortal eyes have never witnessed.” “The signs of impending convulsions and chaos,” He warns the peoples of the world, “can now be discerned, inasmuch as the prevailing Order appeareth to be lamentably defective.”

This is so true. The biggest problem I see is people retreating into their own little bubble; he can't hurt me, everything in my little world is just fine. Yet we see these attacks happening all over America, with Drumpf egging on racism, violence, and destruction. Together we are strong. RESIST! Thanks for the post, Dandelion.

Thank you for this Dandelion......I remember quoting the original poem not so long ago on a thread......

I do disagree with the title........he wasn't anti-nazi until it effected him personally......then it was too late..
that was the real message behind it........he didn't practice what he preached......or what he thought he believed in.......my Great Grandmother and Grandmother (my mother too but she was a young teen) where there when all this was going on......and they helped whomever/whenever they could......they survived thankfully.......my Great Oma was a Jewess, my Oma converted to Catholicism.....their efforts went beyond religion/faith......it was based on humanism........and that is where this Pastor failed......and that is what I was taught by his own religion.....I was raised a Luthern

There are some excellent comments here. Thanks for posting this timely adaptation of this poem, Dandelion. This is a time when it seems like things that are normally hidden are bursting forth into view. It's a very difficult and frightening time. Forces of destruction and creation must operate in a reciprocal manner. In this crisis there is also the opportunity of forging a deeper connection with our fellow humans. We have to guard against being drawn into the vitriol that is spewing from Trump and from all sorts of people who normally dare not actually express their malice. As others have said, we must stand together.
