One has to either be in the top 20% not to notice or have their head in the sand. If you are a majority of the public you know the mainstream media covers nothing that will help you or even speaks to you. It is to keep entertaining the masses while they keep losing footing.

And still the GOP thinks our economy needs to transfer more wealth to the top with their planned tax changes? Thanks Dandelion

Disgusting the way it has turned downward. Thanks to politicians who keep wanting to make themselves richer. We must fight back together to stand up against it. Thanks Dandelion

There it is, it's finally out there, finally someone willing to speak truthfully about what is all around us. Time to dig out.

Certainly there are no morals, values or ethics in the tRUMPie White House.

Unfortunately all this started before Trump and his Administration, we are so broken now, and ruled by the Oligarchy that this is the last gasping of anything this Nation use to represent or stand for.

I'll have to watch later ...

But - a question
Where do the Native Americans fit in the poverty stats ???
Invisible - yet again

Always invisible. But Russell Means, American Indian Activist, called this poverty out before he died, he said "welcome my brothers and sisters to the Rez" When you experience this type of treatment you recognize it straight away.

With the exception of some parts of this Country, such as the MS Delta (where some of the poorest in the Country live), I found this surprising! Thanks, Dandelion!

Not I Kathryn, many a person is living in a home that looks nice while going cold in the winter, foregoing the needed eye exam, not eating well, and in debt trying to just meet basic needs.

There are many invisible poor, and while the MS Delta is certainly a poor area, the Native Americans across this land have been suffering for years in poverty. The Pine Ridge Reservation is the poorest place within the USA in fact is doing worse than in Haiti and they are known for extreme poverty. Many cities are in decay, look at Baltimore, Detroit, and let us not forget the Appalachian mountain areas. Maine has a lot of deep poverty and people freeze to death every year there.

Is why it is important to keep placing this information out there because the mainstream news wants us to think that it's only a small group of people. Did you know more people lost their homes during the crash of 08 than in the Great Depression? Is true, there are statistics to prove that. There were even more who were without jobs as well, and now many of them, even if they got a job again, are making half of what they did or worse.

World civilization in total is unable to come to grip with sustainable living on a finite planet. Many in the world are living on the quarterly earning on our stock market. Sustainable life requires equalizing distribution of wealth but the wealthy always want more because their population is also increasing and want to keep their standard of living.
Meanwhile we are in an arms race with ourselves and being the leaders in a world police state. As such we are in the process of creating an economy requiring being rich or joining the MIC. That requires seeing it as the only upward mobility.
It is unsustainable world wide because we are all now interdependent.

"Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings..."

Can't just lay it at Trumps feet Roslyn, although he certainly will not be improving conditions. We do ourselves an injustice if we do not look back onto BOTH Parties, between Congress, the White House, Lobbyist for Big Business all had a hand in this. There has been an erosion within this Nation and it didn't come overnight but we are certainly in the area of feeling, seeing, and experiencing we are screwed.

But as Ben left a comment, this is manmade conditions, we just have to get the people to start joining in one force and not against each other. The Oligarchy wants us fighting each other because then we don't look to the correct places and people that we need to for us to fix this mess.

I like Chris too and looked at a series of videos on poverty after and signed up to subscribe. Thanks Dandelion. Lived in poverty a lot of my life. Moved back to Canada for help from family. We have poverty here too but with free health care are much better off than U.S. and the 08 recession didn't hit us as hard as our banking system is better regulated. However, with high cost of housing now in many areas a lot of people are in debt and sometimes it is pay rent or mortgage and utilities and do without food or very little food and trips to food banks. A lot of European countries are better than Canada too.
