Horrible Conditions in the Shelter Zeytinburnu/Turkey!

Documents:
http://www.haytap.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1291&Itemid=4407

Yet again we receive horrible news about the Shelter Zeytinburnu in the Province Kocaeli/Istanbul.

The dogs are packed together in small cages and don't receive either food or water. Many animals are sick and gradually suffer a cruel death of strarvation and thirst/dehydration.

This barbaric and gruesome practice to extinct feeling living beings is very common in Turkey.

We urgently ask the Authorities to immediately abolish these inhumane conditions and provide the dogs with food and medical treatment and more space to live.

We want you to believe after all that the International Society will no longer accept these horrorscenario in Turkey without notice, until you provide the help and shelter for the poor, tortured and extremely maltreated creatures which they are entitled to, according to the law.
(see Law of Animal Protection of June 2004)

As long as this brutal and relentless cruelty is done to the help- and drefenseless living beings throughout your country, I, my friends and my family will never again visit Turkey!

regards,

How can they consider it a shelter with neither food nor water? All that amounts to is storage! What horrid, souless people. Sadly noted, Cristina.

You seem to lack perspective, and understanding for your fellow HUMANS in Turkey. They are not "barbaric" people. The stray dog population is out of control. The authorities are required to pick up strays, because of a growing problem with rabies, which is affecting the general population, primarily small children. How can these people be expected to feed out of place wild animals, when their humans often die of starvation or dehydration? Turkey doesn't have enough money to feed their people, much less stray dogs that often threaten their health. When a person in Turkey gets hurt, and can't work they don't get Social Security, or medicaid, or food stamps. They become homeless, and start begging for income from passers-by. Here in the United States, we have no excuse for SO MANY practices. Like why is it legal for our shelters to kill perfectly healthy animals, while puppy-mills are allowed to mass produce them? And what about that Nutria program in California? The Gov't PAYS citizens to kill as many Nutria as they can. Get the LOG out of your own eye before you pick at the splinter in your neighbor's eye.
