We’ve all been fed the lie that this is about equality of opportunity and civil rights. But the more the charter school industry undermines equality and civil rights, the clearer it becomes that this was never about helping children in the first place.

I knew some people who started their own charter school a few years ago they said to have more control over who their daughter goes to school with (white, rich and Christian) but I've often wondered if there was more behind it. This pretty much answers the questions I had.

Every child deserves a great education and every chance to succeed and fulfill their dreams, charter schools was never the answer and public schools close because of costs. If parents want to send their children to private schools where they pay out of their own pockets I say go for it, close charter schools and put more money into public education.

As a teacher, I was never a fan of these schools.

The same problem in Israel. Money has to start going back into public schools. In order to get a good education today, parents must pay a lot of money for private schools.

They are basically private schools being partially funded by the taxpayers.

Love this line within the article:

Unsuccessful schools, they say, should close just as unsuccessful businesses do.

Oh really, I can name a few Banks that should be closed then. These Greedy Ones talk out of both sides of their mouths as long as it benefits them.

Also within the article:

As AlterNet has previously reported, two little-understood policies helped pave the way for the kind of charter growth we are seeing today. One, called the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), began in 2000 at the end of President Bill Clinton’s administration.

Well lookey, here, we got Bill Clinton again, and now wife Hillary is on the horizon. Bill Clinton for the Left is the Ronald Reagan to the Right, and BOTH of these people were disasterous for our Country. Come on now, if you want to get real and learn the errors that has caused this Country to flounder we need to look at both sides of the coin. BOTH Parties have screwed us. Simple as that.

Remember it was Bill Clinton that signed in NAFTA that started the sucking sound of our jobs going overseas, the migration of workers out of Mexico to us as NAFTA destroyed their ability to earn a living. Bill Clinton also repealed the Glass-Steagall Act that then allowed the Banksters to become gamblers with the economy, that we still suffer under.

Yes, the Greedy Ones are running like wild horses to the water trough to get rich off of our children and our children will suffer this loss for generations to come. The sooner these things get turned around the quicker we can get this Country back on track. This is a long haul, but the first thing is for people to understand what is going on to begin with . Thanks for the article.
