Brent Girouex, a youth pastor from Iowa, is going to get away with probation for raping four teenage boys. Tell Judge Greg Steensland that probation is a pathetic sentence for these horrific crimes. Brent Girouex needs to be in jail for a long time.

His justification for raping these boys was to "rape away the gay" by praying for them while he forced intercourse on them. Eight other rape victims have come forward since.

He allegedly told the police that "when they ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind." This is absolutely disgusting.

And thanks to our judicial system, Brent Girouex won't have to spend one minute day in jail. Brent Girouex has been given 5 years probation because the judge has decided to suspend his original sentence of 17 years in jail.

We can't allow our judicial system to let this happen. We have to make it clear that rape is a serious felony. We need to let these boys and other rape victims know that their rapists won't get away with a mere probation.

From Alternet:

Iowa pastor and youth counselor Brent Girouex, who claimed with a straight face that he was trying to “cure” teenage boys of their “homosexual urges” by having sex with them, has had his sentence reduced from 17 years in prison to sex offender treatment and probation.

Since Girouex confessed to having sex with four underage boys, eight additional young men have come forward saying they were sexually violated by the 31-year-old pastor. Girouex, who is not longer a pastor at the Victory Fellowship Church, believed that he could rape away the gay by “praying while he had sexual contact” with the boys, all in an effort to keep them “sexually pure” for God.

According to reports, he told police that “when they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind.”

Girouex, a married father of four, has had a fair share of backlash since he publicly made his disturbing practices known. One of his most ardent opponents is his wife Erin, who has spoken out against both him and the reduced sentence he received after the initial 17 years he was to serve in prison.

“I don’t want [my children] anywhere near him,” Erin Girouex said to KCII local news. She stated that she has plans for divorce, but that her husband’s wanting to see their kids has complicated matters. Currently, he has a court-ordered, twice-per-month visitation schedule, where he must be supervised by his own mother.

While the claim of raping in order to make the victim sexually pure is novel, rapists having their sentences reduced to virtually nothing is not. Girouex’s drastic sentence reduction follows closely behind the heels of the actions of a Montana judge, who sentenced a convicted rapist to serve just 30 days in jail, and made comments about how his 14-year-old victim was an active participant in the sexual relationship. The victim, a girl in this case, subsequently committed suicide, and the judge apologized for his remarks, but left the light sentence in place.

I glanced at the title and then did a double take. Why are violent offenders being released? I don't care what his excuses might be, most criminals have some excuse, but a rapist belongs locked away from society.
This creep should not be allowed to see his children, he has voided all privileges of a father.

Signed and shared, thanks Beverly. Kit, you took action on September 27, 2013

I signed a little earlier today. I already had commented with disgust in another area of C2 when this was posted. It's the judge. This is not an Iowa state thing. Judges that allow this to go un punished are sick and twisted. There's something wrong with them and they should NOT be allowed to be a judge.

This comment made me so sick and angry /filled with repulsion towards this person and a judge who could allow him to go free. NOT to mention he admitted to doing this so many times ,also with others coming forward.

"According to reports, he told police that “when they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind.” "

YOU TOOK ACTION ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2013 Rape is a CRIME! We have people getting away with murder and then some woman getting 20 years for scarring off her attacker. This is a society that protects men and throws women and children under the bus.

WTF?! Girouex was originally sentenced to 17 years in prison (a rather lenient sentence I think) and this judge changed that to probation?! On what planet is that a reasonable thing to do? What possible reason did the "Judge" give to make this seem the correct thing to do? Disgusting.

APOLOGY

I did not mean to imply that to be gay is to be sick.

I once walked that path and I was sick but that does not mean that others who walk that path are sick.

I sincerely apologize for my error.

I should have said troubled. The young men would not have
come to the pastor, however they got there, if they had not been
troubled about their desires. It seems to me that he turned on
them with judgment and anger. He was going to force change.
He should be severely punished for this.

I can't believe the judge gave him probation. The boys were raped by this person and they will be traumatized for a long time. The judge is supposed to protect these boys that were raped, not the rapist. When this guy is out on the streets and it happens again, the judge should be held responsible. There was NO JUSTICE for this boys and that is disgraceful.

Noted and already signed. It looks like more and more judges let sex offenders off the hook. This man is a sex offender of the worst kind, and it has NOTHING to do with being gay. Rape of any kind, regardless of the gender of the victim or criminal, is a crime of violence! This man is sick, and violent and should be sent away for more than 17 years! I would lock him up and throw away the key!!

I dont know which is worse...What this so called Pastor did, or the sentencing that the judge handed out.
Not only did the Pastor do something hideous, but the judge himself sent out the message that this is something he condones. What a sick, sick message this sends out. He's just as guilty as the original offender!
