Albert Woodfox has been in solitary confinement for more than 40 years. The Louisiana authorities refuse to free him despite the fact that his conviction was overturned 3 times.

More than four decades ago, Albert Woodfox, one of the Angola 3 prisoners, was convicted of murdering a prison guard. No physical evidence ties him to the crime. The state claimed it lost potentially exculpatory evidence, and evidence shows that the key eyewitness was bribed. Despite this, Albert has been confined to a small cell for 23 hours a day for nearly 41 years.

After four decades of cruel treatment, there is only one just and humane action that the Louisiana authorities can take. Tell Louisiana authorities to free Albert Woodfox today.

Thank you for taking action! I also had signed but perhaps it's another petition as it also accepted my signature. There is no justice in this Country if you are poor of any race and a minority of most income levels except the rich and famous. The Criminals on Wall Street, the Banksters, the Corporations who are suppose to be "people" they all rip us off, drive people into early graves, allow children to hunger and the rest to despair, but they keep going on, no one goes to jail for even a year or a month. Yet 40 years in solitary and then we have those in Gitmo who we don't know if they are innocent or guilty, children in adult prisons some serving life and no parole ever......some kind of warped justice system. Let me hear about how exceptional we are again.

Thank you for very much Beverly! I pray for his freedom. The state should have to pay restitution as well though no amount of money can ever replace the years he's lost.

Noted, signed and shared. I, too, have signed petitions in the past, but it took my signature again as well. Thanks for posting this. This man has more than suffered enough, particularly since he was innocent of this crime.

Just signed but disappointed nowhere to leave a comment - this case stinks, it's so absurd. If someone is innocent they have no right to keep him locked in solitary for 40 years!!!!!!
