to much money is going abroad to pay for shabby products, and now poor services. Why do we not want to hire our fellow Americans first? If the foundation goes, so does the top. Poppy

This is a symptom of a larger problem. In our culture, the ones that save lives are not paid the big bucks. We reserve that for the entertainment field. As reimbursement rates go down and overhead keeps going up, doctors and others in the healthcare are forced to take shortcuts. We need to fix the larger problem.

I agree with you. The big phama companies run our country as well as the FDA. They make ridiculous decisions to try to make the pharma companies even richer. The guys in the Federal gov't. don't do much to stop this because they want to continue to get the big contributions for their campaigns.

I'm not a fan of outsourcing at all. I've known too many people who struggled to get/keep a job because of it, and I've had too many difficult conversations on help lines too! I know the people who are being hired abroad need jobs too, but MAN can't we keep a few jobs at home? Talk about lack of community loyalty, not to mention in this case the major health and privacy risks.

No kidding I used to do medical files and I am the queen of the typo, and I was a pharmacy tech how did that qualify me to do med files? It was because of privatization, the files were negotiated as part of our contract with private nursing homes, that we supplied prescription drugs to.

well in oh canada, they made non-privacy laws that they put on computers now. with the rates of malpractice, negligencee, collusion here, and adverse drug reactions not reported this is a horror story I can tell u. The are fighting this in the USA for consent forms still for the most part and other things, I hope they win. We were never given the choice it was slipped throu parlimament with hardly or if any notice to the public. Only B.C. has stood some ground on this so far, but it still isnt' enough. Hello my love Litha.

Medical records should be transcribed in the country of origin by transcriptionists that are naturally familiar with the language and medical terminology. There should be no allowance for incorrect terminology being recorded. The only reason to outsource via computer technology is when no workers can be hired, not because it's half the cost using foreign workers with less expensive living costs. Doctors and hospitals are in a very profitable field, do not need to outsource, and should show their patriotism and gratitude to their country and patients by keeping transcription local.
