Mahatma Gandhi, born 140 years ago today, is remembered as the father of modern India but it was his simple lifestyle that has continued to inspired activists around the world. This humble aesthetic, however, is at odds with recent attempts to commemorat

Your views are passionate and valid, but nothing is more off-putting than BAD SPELLING. It is not arduous and correct spelling is an unambiguous demonstration that you REALLY, REALLY CARE - not just say you do. Please ...

Thanks Daphna.
Gandhi knew the lesson the world should follow - simplicity and a vegan life.
No pens for Gandhi, he knew better than that.

One of the greatest of men to have walked this Earth and yes, he would've been offended by the pen as it is in direct constrast from his philosophies.

15,500 Pounds is what those who represent the anthitesis of Gandhi are willing to pay for the "Gandhi memorial" fountain pen made by Mont Blanc. To market such a pen in homage to the Mahatma in a world overflowing with poor people is ludicrous, to put it mildly. Anyone able to afford such a fountain pen, should instead get one for 10 Pounds and donate 15,490 Pounds to help some of the very poor currently living and suffering just as Mohandas did in his day. That's the right kind of homage for such an icon.!

This is a crass, materialistic attempt to cash in on a revered icon. What kind of jerk would actually believe that buying an expensive pen would somehow honor Gandhi of all people. It's like corporations telling consumers that if we buy their product, they will donate part of the purchase price to some charity of other. Actually, the amount they donate is pitifully small--and they claim the donation (the money we gave them) as a tax deduction. If Mont Blanc cared one whit about Gandhi, they would support the causes he believed in instead of using him as a ploy to make a sale.

WHEN a PERSON and or PERSONS...
REGARDLESS of the HANDICAP one may have

WHETHER A STICK KEY-BOARD and TOO POOR $ to "spend that ALMIGHTYG DOLLAR"
NEEDED
for THE SCARCE FOOD SUPPLY IN THE PANTRY
for THE LAUNDRY TO BE WASHED this time at least
for THE OTHER NECESSITY that YES indeed even the cost, ever so frivolous to PERHAPS some Llewellyn K. "OUT THERE" in "COMFORT LAND ZONE $"...

well Llewellyn K.
I MYSELF UNDERSTANDING THESE PLIGHTS CAN EFFECT, YES THE HARDSHIPS CAN
cause A SEEMING MIS WHAT Llewellyn K. ???
SPELLING IS YOUR CAUSE?
IF SO GO START YOUR OWN GROUP ABOUT THAT... !
MYSELF... IT IS THE
INTENT that MATTERS and so TO ALL OF INTEGRITY I HAVE EVER MET!

and the other factors WEIGHING IN ON NOT SPELLING up to YOUR STANDARDS...

AS ONE BRAIN INJURED AND IN GREAT PERILS STILL TODAY FROM THE INJURY
I HAVE MET MANY PEOPLE VIOLATED
SOME TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY SUCH AS MYSELF
and others
COULD BE THAT MEDICATION PLACED ON TO "ASSIST HER" (MOST COMMON FEMALES) THROUGH THE RAPE TRAUMA SHE HAS ENDURED... IS SUFFRING!)
although
CAN BE OTHER PERILS
CANCER TREATMENT... WHICH IS DEBILITATING... !

WHAT ABOUT ALSO the LUPUS treatments!
NOT TO EXCLUDE THOSE "DISEASES" AND THEIR AFFLICTION DIRECT TO A LIFE!

AND I HATE "ETC" at times
but I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME Llewellyn K.
TODAY
TO LIST ALL THE VALID REASONS ANYONE posting WHATEVER here/elsewhere
MAY HAVE FOR NOT SPELLING UP TO YOUR STANDARDS!

SHAME ON YOU Llewellyn K. !!!
YOU WILL NOT BE WELCOMED AS A FRIEND OF MINE!
btw DAPHNA and MOST OTHERS POSTED HERE already ARE!
YOU BEST LEARN THE WORD "R E S P E C T" mr.
___AND YOU OWE to Daphna AN APOLOGY
as well to ALL PEOPLE in any kind of AFFLICTION
"WE WILL NOT TAKE YOUR INSULTS mr!"
THE APOLOGY IS EXPECTED!!!

and SOMEONE COMES HERE
to CARE2
to GIVE to ME A FINE STORY and I SHOULD bow to your Llewellyn K. "AS IF CONCERN" about some "SPELLING BEE" prize that NO ONE OF CHARACTER WOULD CARE FOR WHATSOEVER... NO, NO Llewellyn K., THOSE OF us OF CHARATER WOULD BE TOO TOO CONCENTRATED ON HUMAN RIGHTS, UPON CONSERVATION, UPON ANIMAL RIGHTS and WOULD NOT TRULY APPRECIATE YOUR "NOISE" AND YOUR "ATTEMPTING TO APPLY CONTEMPT" TO SOMEONE.

DAPHNA,
a GREAT STORY ABOUT ONE OF THE PEOPLE IN HISTORY
WHO MOVED MOUNTAINS
and GAVE A PEOPLE IN OPPRESSION A DIRECTION that ENGLAND was NOT WILLING to PROVIDE... WHAT A SHAME. The INDIA PEOPLE as with many that ENGLAND had OPPRESSED indeed A PEOPLE with CAPACITY FOR GREATNESS...
the skin color bias of England
the ANOMOSITY toward a people such as England delivered on them...
I WONDER ...
has ENGLAND ever APOLOGIZED for it all?
I notice the USA has NOT OPENLY made APOLOGY FOR ABUSE of the INDIAN people!
IT REMAINS A STAIN ON THE USA!

MANY SAY THE INDIAN SUFFERED A HOLOCAUST!
WHO COULD ARGUE IT? ___THE BLANKETS FILLED WITH DISEASE distributed to the CHILDREN, the WOMEN, the FAMILIES, the Men.

THE POISONED FOOD SUPPLIES. !
THE MARCHES THROUGH HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS, IN CHILLING CLIMATES... other perils TOO that STRUCK BLOWS ON THE INDIAN LIVES time and again!!!
AND HOW MANY OTHER PERILS SUBJECTING THESE PEOPLE TO!!!
SHAME is ON THE USA.

MY HEART GOES TO THE INDIAN PEOPLE... YOU DESERVE SO MUCH MORE!

AND it is a TRAGEDY that while ENGLAND came to LISTEN to Ghandi,
NO ONE listened to GERONIMO... among others of the INDIAN in the USA
and LET THOSE PEOPLE BE FREE TO HAVE THEIR PEACE and not on some miniscule SLAB of land when ALL THE LAND (pretty much) WAS INDIAN LAND!

Daphna. Christoph SAID something that is ALOT like that BLASTED Mattel doll at $95 to "HOMELESS DOLL" notoriety: "in a world overflowing with poor people is ludicrous, to put it mildly!"
WHAT are these so called "businesses" REALLY SAYING!!!
I just do NOT SEE the WORK of GHANDI in such a pen!

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THE AWARENESS TO us ALL.

Whoa, wtf. Ge Aricelli, if you have a TBI, you must calm yourself. You are a person with a disability not handicapped. Also, my Great grandmother, Cherokee, made it thru the Trail of Tears and we, Native Americans prefer that to Indian, who are people from India.
Tks ya'll. BTW great article namaste Daphna. I don't know where or what Llewellyn is talking about or coming from either.

I do think he would be offended.I think he would have rather,if he had to be remembered,he would have people follow his example, maybe give more to the poor people of the world, and maybe have more people follow his vegetarian lifestyle as well.

Leading by example - the very hardest thing to do,
Gandhi did; now most leaders haven't got a clue!

I believe he would wonder how many he could feed with the money from one of these damn pens! Talk about dis honor a man of peace and poverty. Do they even know who he is or was this just an excuse to put out pens at a ridiculous price? It made me mad as hell.
