These are really incredible! They have a small community of them built in New Mexico. I have seen a documentary about them, and believe me, I would definitely build one, if I were going to build a home. They are totally self sufficient, they are very green and environmentally friendly. They to rid our landfills and air of old rubber tires that either sit in landfills forever, or pollute our air by burning them or melting them. These Earthships, do not need conventional heating or cooling. They use their gray water to sustain plant life, veggies, and so forth for human consumption. They also use up things like old glass, and cans so they help to recycle those also. And I have seen some incredible designs in them. Here is a URL where you can find out more about them. http://www.earthship.net/
