At ten years old, you were probably spending most of your time playing with Barbies or Matchbox cars. Not Kimmie Weeks: He was busy trying to save his country instead. Weeks, now 26, was born in the turbulent African nation of Li

For those who have not visited turbulent regions, this article may pose little impact on your thoughts. Also, for those that do not know, Liberia was founded by freed US slaves, flies an American mimicked bars n stripes flag and still uses the American dollar as its currency.

I was in Liberia in the early 80's and just arriving off the plane was greeted by armed soldiers who marched us into the terminal where not a window was spared with bullet holes. Now ghow's that for a welcome party?

For what this big young man has gone through, Mr. Kimmie Weeks, needs to be applauded for not allowing it to take himself down an uncaring path, but rather instead he's utilizing it to make that part of the world a little better off.

He deserves our applause, justifies our attention but requires aid and assistance. We all should be lining up on what we could do to help, no matter how small a scale that may be...

I find it interesting that UNICEF would reject such a legitimate proposal at first...even from kids. I think that should definitely state something about the truth of UNIFCEF's "generosity". I understand how much Weeks values his life but if someone isn't at least threatening to kill you before you're twenty-five, you're doing it wrong. Anyways, I totally applaud Weeks. Especially considering he started so young and went through so much.

We need more people in this continent who will rise up in the ranks and take ove the reins from the corrupt governments... I hope that he will be an example and that his light may always shine so before men..
