And what is THE animal pictured.....the Polar bear...when populations have increased from 8-10,00 to 22-24,000 in the last 40 years.
How deceptive is that?
What they say is,

"This one shouldn't surprise you. The polar bear has become the poster animal for the devastating changes global warming is bringing to the Arctic. Polar bears are dying because their range is shrinking; the sea ice they use to hunt seals is melting as temperatures rise. It's estimated that there are 20,000-25,000 polar bears worldwide. Thirty percent of the 19 recognized subpopulations are in decline. (Shea Gunther) "

Now Canada has 18,000 PBs...that is most of the WORLD's Polar bears.....but when they present it the way they did . as "30% of the world's subpopulations" it looks much more impressive.

That's called spin.

Now, if you like being made dizzy, instead of being informed, then read it. But be forewarned, this is propaganda.

This was a super article...Daphna thank you...

To add a couple of FACTS:

Polar Bears are increasing threatened by climate change, which affects their ability fo find food and raise young. Researchers have noticed thinner annimals and a drop in the number of cubs born. This shift in litle size seems to correlate with the increasing ice melt. Also, females in some regions create dens in thick snow built up on permafrost, so the decline of ice cover and thawing permafrost affects their abiliity to create a safe haven for young cubs.

Koalas: There's not much nutrition in eucalyptus leaves, yet koalas are able to thrive on them. But that may change as carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere continue to build. Scientists have found that increases in carbon dioxide decreate the nutrition levels of eucalyptus. While the trees themselves don't look any different, the low-quality food wild koalas end up eating affects their health and survival.

Snow Leopards:

Researchers made a startling correlation recently, as snow lines in the Himalayas recede, snow leopards are moving higher up the mountain. At these elevations, however, vegtation is scarce, and therefore so are the herbivores that are the leopards' prime prey. The reason for this change isn't understood yet. One theory is that as the mountains become warmer, humans are able to move into the habitat, driving these elusive, endangered cats to higher, but not healthier, elevations.

Steller's sea-eagles:
Some populations of Steller's sea-eagles fly over vast stretches of open seas as they migrate to their breeding sites and rest on sea ice to break up the long trip. Sea ice also plays a role in their feeding strategy: after a sea-eagle snatches a fish from the ocean, it lands on a solid ice platform, which serves as a table where it can eat its prey. How will the rapid melting of sea ice affect these steller sea birds? Yet to be determined!

More, more, more...and these are not all of the special animals that are on the site in the article..

Grevy's Zebras:
In Kenya, a severe, prolonged drought believed to be a sign of climate change has Grevy's zebras grazing on whatever sparse stubs of grass they can find. In bare areas, the endangered equines rubs their muzzles against the ground to unearth food, unintentionally stirring up and inhaling anthraz spores at the same time. Weakened by hunger, many zebras are unable to find the disease.

This goes on and on....for anyone that DOES not believe that the WORLD and all of our creatures and Earth is under attack lives someplace that is called "living in denial or under a Rock"!

Marilyn...that isn't fact...just propaganda.

Polar bear expert Dennis Compayre, formerly of the conservation group Polar Bears International, has studied the bears for almost 30 years in their natural habitat and is working on a new UK documentary about the bears. “I tell you there are as many bears here now as there were when I was a kid,” Compayre said. “Churchill [in Northern Canada] is full of these scientists going on about vanishing bears and thinner bears. They come here preaching doom, but I question whether some of them really have the bears’ best interests at heart.”
Biologist Dr. Matthew Cronin, a research professor at the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Alaska Fairbanks: “We don’t know what the future ice conditions will be, as there is apparently considerable uncertainty in the sea ice models regarding the timing and extent of sea ice loss. Also, polar bear populations are generally healthy and have increased worldwide over the last few decades,” Cronin said. (LINK) & (LINK)

Naturalist Nigel Marven is a trained zoologist, botanist, and a UK wildlife documentary maker who spent three months studying and filming polar bears in Canada's arctic in 2007. “I think climate change is happening, but as far as the polar bear disappearing is concerned, I have never been more convinced that this is just scaremongering. People are deliberately seeking out skinny bears and filming them to show they are dying out. That’s not right,” Marven said.

Judy...actually, not getting into this with you...this is a fact!

Why don't you watch some specials on Global Warming, read some news articles, I have no idea where you are getting your news and what "propaganda" that makes your head spin...are these articles from people that are living in igloos that are melting?

Oh boy Judy, which so-called "source" are you mis-quoting THIS time to try to debunk the fact that human impact is causing climate change?

Judy, what you are saying is that I am to believe you and not the thousands of news articles, documentaries, etc., that are saying Polar Bears are dying off??? Duh!

Well good folks, I see that Miss Judy is still alive and well portraying climate change and its results, such as polar bear habitat destruction, ie: polar ice packs, as merely a hoax and propaganda scheme to get rich. Whoever is getting rich in stating climate trend evaluations, we'll never know, but for sure we do know those who are interested in attacking climatologist studies, feel threatened in losing their mother of record profits, but only due to their obstinant stance to change and pursuant of a dead dinosaur, AKA nonrenewable fossil fuels.

Folks, Judy truly believes in her efforts for whatever reason(s) and she is most definitely entitled to her beliefs. But beliefs are not neccessarily real truths, except to that individual who looks for any and everything to support, suppressing real truths for their particular guided or misguided agendas.

Yes she has every right to her beliefs and one has every right to ignore,
them, listen to them or even adhere to them. But I got to tell ya, one's beliefs are fine until they try spoonfeeding them onto others as factual.

This is exactly what is happening today by the naysayers. And for their beliefs to be accepted, they are willing to stand by the wayside with virtually no extensive studies of their own empirical conclusions and then attack those 97% of climatologists that have been involved in the everyday years of data collecting and distort and misinform their findings to the rest of us.

They are the ones with an agenda to protect their profits and to smear those with any pertinent data is their campaign, in ensuring the status quo continues no matter the consequences.

Have you noticed the American Petroleum Institute's (API) ads on the airways lately against cap and trade? They always potray their actors as the common Joe or Jane in rebutting cap and trade. They would never portray the petroleum executives in their fancy offices who are really the ones who want cap and trade out of the picture.

Now kindly in repose I must rebuke Miss Judy in her claimed fact check, as she has distorted the truth.

According to the US Fish & Wildlife agency evaluation conducted summer 2009: of the 19 subpopulations of polar bear 7 have sub par data to determine, three are stable, while 8 are actually declining with only one increasing. That one is where Judy hangs her hat, In fact one considered stable, the Southern Beaufort Sea population is declining in cubs.

Yes polar bear population has increased overall since the '50s, but that is strictly due to scientists making the public aware of habitat loss and hunting pressures. These were greatly curbed and the population rebounded. Funny, but the very information Miss Judy takes to attack the scientists were the very ones that allowed this population increase to occur through ecological sound management.

Unfortunately now, there is not much to counter in habitat loss as it is due to climate change. The bears have loss polar ice ranges habitat that is the size of the states of Washington, Alaska and Texas combined. Now that is going to have its near future impact, in particular in that the trend is continuing. What can we do/

Now, to end this emphatically, do you really think that Bush's interior department would have liste polar bears on the threatened list just for grins? I don't think so...

But to end this argument once and for all, do you think

"Marilyn...that isn't fact...just propaganda."

Look who's talking!

Judy's standard M O is to:
1. Assume that anything posted by denialists like herself must be truthful (blind faith).
2. Assume that anything posted by supporters of the man-made global warming hypothesis must be part of a worldwide "scam" (blind faith).
3. Plaster denialist propaganda in a vain attempt to intimidate people who dare to post news stories about the climate change problem here (spamming).
4. When her claims are debunked, ignores or dismisses the rebuttals and challenges from others (hypocrisy).
5. Makes personal attacks against others, then cries foul when she gets attacked in return (hypocrisy squared).
6. Waits until another news story about climate change is posted in the C2NN to repeat points 1 through 5 (insanity).
No wonder she is laughed at and scorned around here.

Judy C should have seen the Documentary that Al Gore put out. When you see this you will know there is no doubt all the ice is melting. And other bears black, brown may be okay but the Polar bears are definitly not okay.

Carmen, the Pope of global warming is the last person on the face of this earth that Judy C., I or anyone that looks at all the data would trust to tell the truth. All anyone needs to do is watch An Inconvenient Truth to see how Mr. Gore uses misinformation, false representation, doctored charts and graphs and unsupported claims to promote his new commodities market scheme.

Sure Ralph, and Mr. Gore needed the fame (or infamy from the other side), need money, is power-mad, is one of 'them' of 'the new world order world domination plot' and well...the list goes on of vilification. Didn't he get a Nobel peace prize for it? Like Obama. And the IPCC. Oh that's right, they're all in cahoots and one of 'them' too.
Maybe the question, who isn't one of 'them'? You for sure, Judy for sure...

The best thing anyone can do to save the beautiful animals is to stop eating meat. If you find it hard (some do-- dont know why) then just cut down then cut again. One day when you do not dften have it, you will realise it is disgusting anyway.

"All anyone needs to do is watch An Inconvenient Truth to see how Mr. Gore uses misinformation, false representation, doctored charts and graphs and unsupported claims to promote his new commodities market scheme."

Ralph, I have read the book An Inconvenient Truth from cover to cover. It's not perfect, since no human product is, but it's not nearly the cesspool of falsehoods denialists like you and Judy Cross claim. It only needs to be updated to account for the Sun going quiet since 2005, the current economic recession, and other scientific data we now have.

You two, however, rely on sources, including blogs dedicated to global warming denalist propaganda and corporate dominated media sources, that I and other scientifically objective people know better than to trust.
