Atheists in the US especially need to stand up and be counted The US is not a "christian nation" and was not founded as such.
Separation of church and state was the intention of America's founding fathers most of whom were not christians, but were agnostics at the very least.
This god bless America stuff all started in the 50's when MacCarthyism was at it's height and reds like the monsters under kids beds were imagined to be everywhere.
Nowadays US politicians can't attend the opening of a letter without invoking god and in a country which is arming half of the planet to the teeth while bombing the other half back to the stone-age it screams hypocrisy.
