Four years late, the Law Lords finally put the British government's anti-terror policies under the spotlight on Wednesday by delivering a resounding repudiation of the government's use of secret evidence to impose control orders on alleged terror suspects

Noted. Is this behavior something the British feel is justified by their long lost dreams of empire. They did the same thing to the Irish "terrorists" (aka, republican patriots).
It seems some lessons are never learned.

Control Orders were a total misuse of power...good to see sense returning even if a little late in the day.

The response of the government is that the Lords' decision is unhelpful in their war against terror. Somehow it did not surprise me to hear the latest Home Secretary clone to come out with that. They don't give a toss about human rights or this would never have happened in the first place and they should actually be hanging their heads in shame not continuing with this ludicrous charade that has destroyed so many lives. This was all down to Blair and his statement that 'the rules of the game have changed' after the bombings in London and he rounded up easy targets. These men had nothing to do with it - they were mere scapegoats and continue to be. They were all refugees from Algeria or Libya or Jordan (oops these are very important allies now - not repressive regimes) where they objected to the oppression and terrorism of their governments and their lives were in danger. They were never terrorists. Brown is just another Blair. He went along with it all so he can hardly change his tune now. He is as despicable as Blair. It will be interesting to see what happens next. And Rob, yes, they would not relinquish the whole of Ireland - Ireland should be one country - and allowed Roman Catholics in the North to be treated as second class citizens and the Irish had to suffer the oppression and injustice in the UK that the Muslims are suffering now. Blair joined with Bush to invade Iraq because Blair was Bush's poodle as everyone knows - for control of Iraq's oil. Millions went on the streets to protest but were ignored. We live in a democracy? I do not think so. Ask the men under control orders what they think. They might as well be living in Burma. Shame on the Labour Party. Keir Hardie must be birling in his grave.
