There is a News Video to watch!!! My browser didn't pick it up the first time.

Another link also..

I do understand that she was obviously overwhelmed but she took the dogs and left the cats for fear the dogs would get hurt. I understand the fear of them getting into the wrong hands. I'm not sure why she felt the cats would be fine??
I just am sad over the story. It probably was posted here but I have never seen it and I have to say why did the dogs have to go with her. I don't know.... Very sad. I'm sad. I'm not judging really.I have questions but no matter what she was overwhlemed to kill herself. If her husband is willing to continue on for real in her name and all her work why did she take the dogs?? Again,I just am sad by this.... Not really judging. Trying not to but I can't help being angry and sad that the dogs lives were taken. I don't know what to think .

I heard about this yesterday--it's very tragic. She was no doubt overwhelmed but it breaks my heart she took the innocent dogs with her. RIP pooches. Thx Prima

Prima I personally think its ok to judge in a case like this , No matter what her demons were
it was her choice to end her life , to at that moment go with the darker decision
Dogs always go with the simple pleasures , a kindness , decent food and a cozy cushion to rest
so its crappy & unfair that she chose to end their lives .

Thank You Lydia! I don't agree with her taking the dogs. I just don't!! I don't know why she took them and ended their lives with her. I do think It's wrong to have taken them with her. I honestly was shocked and yes mad that she took them. I felt she had no right to take their lives. I think it was a selfish act. She didn't think so but it was.

Thanks Lydia. I didn't know what to say . I was very angry. I understand her overwhleming feelings but this was not right. I'm heart broken .I didn't even hear the video before I posted and went back to make sure all was Ok with the link. It seems other organizations probably would have helped her if just explained.

some how I missed the news everywhere it was posted on webites or on the News.

I appreciate all of you who have read this and noted. Rescue is very hard work. I have been overwhlemed myself and I made so many calls and I received help from a few places to take on some of the animals. I was in a bad place but it would never ever occur to me to take their lives with mine.

Those who choose to end their life stare death in the face, if you are having thoughts about it, they can often lead to thinking that everything else around you would be better off dead too. thoughts like that cannot be predicted and often come from a very dark place. I don't agree with what she did but i can understand why she chose to do it.

Borg, that's a part of why I commented that I really was not judging. I didn't know if I wanted to say everything I felt. I understood where she was coming from and her thoughts but I have been there and would not take my animals with me. I did have to ask for help urgently to get homes for some. I never had 30 dogs plus 20 cats or so. Very hard to do on your own. That is overwhelming for sure.
She was in a dark place if ready to die and she was ready. So her thought process was different. Although it seems people would have at least taken the animals off her hands if they knew how bad she was doing. When I posted at first I saw where she was coming from but did not agree with taking the dogs with her!!!! That's why I said I'm sad and I really can't say anything.. I understand her situation but don't agree at all. My animals kept me going many times. I would not leave them with no one to care for them. But I did have to get homes, places for all fosters at one point. I remember the Singer/Reality Drug Rehab show Mindy Mcready( Spelling of the name??) She did kill herself and supposedly her dog with her. It was said she did and I still never heard if that was not true. There was NO reason for her to take her dog with her. She wanted to die and nothing was going to stop her but there was no need to take her dog with her.

This is a tough situation. We don't really know what she was thinking. It was a selfish act even if she was in a dark place. It's all very sad ....

Thanks for commenting Borg.

I think she knew with 31 dogs and 20 cats she had hoarding problems. Hoarders lose focus and cannot figure out how to give up. They think only they can rescue. RIP Sandy and poor dogs.

Yes,she had way too many to handle on her own. It is hard when you want to help so bad . That's way too many for one person. Terribly sad.

Tragic on all counts. One really needs more information. Some of the comments in the article mentioned that she had older dogs that had disabilities and perhaps that she did what she did because she feared they could not be adopted out but that was mere speculation in the comments. Some thought also that she was a hoarder but one still needs more information, possibly from those who knew her well.

Suicide is something that one does when driven to the deepest of despair and rationality has little to do with it. One doctor in Toronto jumped to her death with her baby in her arms many years ago onto the subway tracks because of postpartum depression, so one could be a formerly rational individual but end up doing irrational things when suffering from major clinical depression. Perhaps others who knew her or perhaps helped her in her work with the dogs/cats can answer some of the questions, perhaps not.

Very sad when such tragedies occur.

Dale, you brought up just about everything else that went through my mind ,plus I thought of a few more things. We did not have all details . That is why I wrote that I really didn't know exacly what to say and that i was trying my best not to judge first.

No matter what this is very sad and yes tragic on all counts . It was hard to know exactly what to say when I posted because I do realize and understand many more factors had to be going on here.
A sad story....
Thanks for commenting Dale!!

I can just hear those sweet dogs whimpering around her and pawing at the doors trying to get out...THAT'S what bothers me the most.
