Greg Bove steps into his pickup truck and drives down a sandy path to where the future of Florida's renewable energy plans begin: Acres of open land filled with solar panels that will soon power thousands of homes and business.

Oh, isn't this just great.

Solar panels out the woozeway, and they power like, what... 3,000 houses? yikes. That's alot of panels for such a comparatively small number'o houses.

Just think. All this money spent for power that we'll never use, because the houses -still- have propane and electricity as their main power source in the area, therefore, this particular installation is pointless, and costs way too much money compared to propane and electricity.

I just think that this solar power stuff is... Well, quite frankly? Ridiculous. It's just a waste of money.

...Where does this money come from anyways? Who's pocket, mine? Answer that, wouldja?

With it taking all this acreage to power 3,000 homes, in order to power the whole state, you'd need how many solar panels??! There won't be room for a state - - just one big solar panel.

The article states that at 25 megawatts, the FL site generates power for 3,000 homes, but a 48mw plant will power 30,000 homes in NV. If that kind of "ratio?" [twice the power = ten times the output] can be expected, it doesn't seem too bad a return! And think what it will provide as better technology makes the panels more effective/efficient!

I'll take this option for our Gulf states over more oil and natural gas platforms off our coasts!

Also, as to all those people who think they won't be getting enough power to suit them, Get a life and get green. Did you ever fly over S. FL at night? What a WASTE!

Well that WAS my idea for arizona, being a native arizonan was my dream, but these people that moved here are so into building MASSIVE prison/slave industrial complex. Yep they have 17 cents an hour highway dept workers, firefighters and with NO american rights for a dirty UA, because drugs are still able to get into america even under 24/7 satellite servelillence, They are youth haters and they PUNISH americans whom lost their jobs to massive outsourcing and they PUNISH families whom cannot get what jobs are left, because they ALLOW all the illegals to get a tax ID number and they get the jobs, because OUR govt wants to REPLACE us !!!!! Arizona used to be an awesome place and now MY entire family that settled here in 1800s is LEAVING!!! It is a circus run by fat, stupid clowns!!!

the guy whom thinks solar panels are pointless? doesn't live in Phoenix, arizona where my electric bill is $847.00 for 2 months, because of triple digit heat and having to use your ac to NOT melt everything you own and yourselves!

John Lennon- Watching the wheel go round-

"People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that I'm o.k. well they look at me kind of strange
Surely you're not happy now you no longer play the game

People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go

Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind
I tell them there's no hurry
I'm just sitting here doing time

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go '

RE: FLORIDA: What happens when a hurricane blows them away????Kind of dumb building them in FL where sooner or later they will get hit by one.

AZ is where there is more sun than most any other state, we have the room and here is where we should be building the solar stations. We could also furnish enough wind to power a large city or perhaps the entire state.

I was in the Adelaide Museum in South Australia last week and read an article about a young Lass who put her mind to it about solar power and came up with something that worked and was only a fraction of the price of the present solar panels. I wonder how long it will be before her technology is "bought" by the power giants and put into mothballs, never to be brought out again. Much the same as Tesla's "FREE" power system was by his so called benefactor, It was confiscated? His benefactor had millions involved in expensive power generation. The free system would have made the present system out of date.

Actually, we would never have had the present system if it had not been put together by Tesla. You know how it is, money is more important than people. And also we are a lot to blame for this situation ourselves. Think of how many people would be out of work if electricity suddenly became free to obtain and no one had to be employed to produce it.

I guess we want a perfect world but also want to act in evil ways ourselves without any repercussions.

This is cool. People still need to be employed to clean and maintain the panels. It's logical to use the sun's energy.
