How low can they go. Disgusting. In front of children for goodness sakes! No respect for the dead either.
Thanks Katie

Wanted dead or alive... ivory from no matter what source.. when are these people going to learn that this whale should be left to have a dignified death..

Dead is dead. Soon everything we do and think will be "illegal". It may be objectionable to some but then violence on TV is more acceptable than sex. What the heck is that about? Not too far in the past it was acceptable to do as these people did but now because of people being "offended" is is now wrong? So kill the seagulls that peck at the carcass or kill the crabs.

Well, I hate to be a spoil sport, but as long as the ones realize the risks of infection from meddling with a decaying carcass, let 'em have at it. By chopping the quite dead animal, they will actually hasten the decomposing process.

If authorities indeed are so concerned of spreading disease, should there be a ban in being in proximity of the multitudes of birds, in particualr seagulls that will greedily feast on the remains?

There is no argument if this whale were alive or still alive and these axe awingers were having at him...give them the maximum sentence. But if the animal is long dead, why not hasten nature's process of decay...

My first reaction was who cares the whale is dead and people find stuff on the beach dead shells and dead starfish all the time so what is different. Then I thought about it some more and I came to the conclusion that it is because it is an endangered species and trading in parts of an endangered species is illegal. That is really the only objection I have to it.

They should have warned people that it is illegal to posses parts of a whale that is an endangered species instead of warning them of health risk which is a smokescreen.
