This should have been implemented 20 years ago.

i agree with Julie. laws such as this whould have been implemented way, way back before this whole extreme climate change happened. But its better now, than never.

It's all a matter of bean counting. What is cheaper, fix the problem or pay the fine. When are we going to understand that an evironmental impact such as this is not going away by simply placing a fine on it.

Each and every air, ground or water polluting factory of any kind MUST comply with all the ground rules of operation BEFORE they are allow to function. At least once a year these factories must be inspected to make sure safety features are still in place and working, if, not, shut them down until they comply again AND a fine to get the message accross.

Yep, this should have been implemented decades ago. Especially, when coal was so prevalent. Now, if only they would do this globally. Hit greed where it hurts. The pocket book.

Today, no government should not have any excuses for going after polluters for we know it affects all environments eventually.

I was wondering why the fall in pollution cases, but after reading the article it wasn't due to more responsible pollution control by industry, it was simply due to less cases being tried, as pollution had actually increased in areas...

Yes emissions limits have been set for many years on companies. In the Reagan administration The women in charge of over seeing that offending companies were fined was doing just that (her job) Reagan fired her. When I was watching television shortly after Bush JR was in office I dropped my coffee when I head Bush JR say "don't worry about emissions we need to grow the economy ". Once again enormously absurd profit rules over law. Barbara H.
