An international team of astronomers has accurately measured the distance from Earth to a black hole for the first time. Without needing to rely on mathematical models the astronomers came up with a distance of 7800 light years.......

!!!!! wait a minute, what's so good about it! It's less than 8,000 light years away. When you consider the Milky Way is perhaps 100,000 light years in diameter, it puts it in perspective.

How do we know they aren't closer?
