What are they complaining about? Under Saddam Hussain, Shi'ites would not have been able to protest against ANYTHING. He would have had them all killed. Remember that he was a SUNI and hated the Shi'ites, the Kurds and everyone else. They did benefit from the invasion in at least this freedom to protest.

That doesn't excuse GWB's behavior. He is a deplorable representative of humanity. I pray I get to see him held accountable for all the murders he is responsible for.

The only protesting under Saddam was staged by his regime. Otherwise you would be missing your head in short order. He did not tolerate dissent. It is possible as a realist to inderstand that no matter what is thought of GW, the Iraqi's are better off with the dangers of freedom, rather than the dangers of oppression.

Yes, Saddam was a horrible dictator. Then, why did the US government support him for so many years? Is anyone else tired of being trained by the govt. & media to hate "evil" leaders, nations and organizations that, more often than not, the same Corporate government either helped create, coddle or supply with weapons before they had a falling-out?

Did you know that the Bush's were in business with the Bin Ladins years ago. They jointly owned a construction company. How uncool is that1!!!

Bobbi C.,

Yes that IS a kick in the head, isn't it? But, when I am back visiting the States and mention the Bush-bin-Laden family connections, I get responses from relatives like, "No, that can't be true", or, "I never heard THAT before."

Go ahead and try to do business with the bin-Laden Family and see how quickly the FBI or some other agency comes checking you out. People such as the Bushes are somehow exempt from being national security threats, though.

Ralph...I learn something new every day. I know Bush has done a lot of bad stuff but I have not heard of a Bin Laden connection myself. Might there be a posting I could learn more from?

Hi Jodi, Here are some sites that discuss the business ties.

http://www.bushwatch.com/bushmoney.htm

http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/09_18_01_bushbin.html

This last link is on a web page that is a bit sarcastic but has a good chart showing the connections among members of the Carlyle weapons manufacturer, including George Bush I and Salem bin-Laden.
At the very least it seems that the US vs. Al Qaeda fight is nothing more than mobster warfare.
