Maria...just was getting ready to shut down my lap top after a long comment on the Oceans, saw this and had to comment. This does not surpise me one little bit after all we have done to this Earth and especially this Alaska area. I talked to someone yesterday who truly supported Palin and I said you have NO IDEA WHAT DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE, NOT TAKING MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT, HELLO, LET'S TAKE SOME MONEY FROM PRIVATE PEOPLE WHO CAN COME IN. SICK SICK SICK. To Lose these Polar Bears is upsetting to say the least, in my lifetime, I have seen so much loss and so much greed I can hardly stand it without crying. The Total Injustice of it all is so overbearing it is hard to take. We as this Earth's protectors must take this fight on and make sure we DO NOT LOSE these animals that have lived here (until we distroyed their environment). So SAD, SO TRUE -- When is this Human Greed going to go away. The Polar Bear is such a special animal, I have watched specials and totally love this creature that was created for this EARTH, to watch it's habitat be distroyed is just so upsetting and unthinkable to me. Sorry, Getting very passionate, what is ever going to be left to this Earth when all this is through?????? SEALS, POLAR BEARS, ETC, ETC, to much damage to much cruel behavior. It is an insult to be called the high race. We are nothing but a bunch of COW SHIT if we don't put a stop to this now. We will not bring back anything that has been lost, but JUST maybe, we can bring a little enlightening to those who do want to live on this Planet, do want to enjoy nature......One Can ONLY HOPE for a better WORLD...Or MAYBE I AM LIKE THE PERSON IN THE WIZARD OF OZ SAYING TAKE ME HOME... Well, I gotta tell you at the rate we are going this is not at home I want to be taken home to. Thanks for listening....M

TY Maria. I completely agree with Marilyn, we are the protectors of the earth. I think one of the core problems in understanding that is that the Abrahamic religions taught man had dominion over the earth and the animals therein. Most other religions teach the unity of all life. There is no detachment of the other creatures from man and no sense in man of the "lower" creatures.

all i can say is imagine if it were turned around and the russians were being poached or alaskan people were being poached. when are we ever going to realize that we cannot continue to mistreat other species for whatever personal gain at our disposal. if we continue to allow this to happen and not put ourselves out there to protect these animals, even if it means risking our very lives to do so as often happens in africa with animals and poaching, etc, then we ourselves will be doomed and deservedly so.
