CHAPARRAL -- Authorities may end up seizing as many as 1,000 birds from a Chaparral property that has become the focus of a cockfighting investigation, an animal control official said Wednesday.

They can rehabilitate these birds!! They don't need to be euthanized. I wish they would realize this. It is just like with the pitbulls They are trained to fight. Big difference. In the wild roosters seldom ever fight. They just maintain there territories.

This is horrible!! We just had a similar case in CT. It was only 250 birds and they were all euthanized because they were deemed "violent" and supposedly couldn't be rehabilitated. So far no charges here either but I have been in contact with the state police who claim that charges will be filed. The people responsible need to be punished and deserve to rot in jail!
