According to the most recent data estimates, roughly 70 million sharks are caught (and killed) each year, most of this is for food, some for sport, and sadly, some just out of fear.

Thank God! I love sharks call me crazy, but I can't stand to see these poor creatures treated like garbage!! They have gotten such a bad rap from the whole Jaws movie thing. It is a shame. They are beautiful, very much need in the food chain.
Thanks Maria

Thanks for the good news, Maria! Nothing that swims, walks or crawls deserves to be treated the way sharks have been with "finning". They too have life and purpose. I am glad that the US government is getting on board to stop this kind of destructive profiteering.

That is good news! I can't imagine having so little respect for other critters that they cut their fins off and throw them back so someone can eat a specialty soup or something! Arghhhh! Thanks Maria!

This is a good start but it does not only happen in American waters so we must keep alert and see what we can do elsewhere

Good, but we need a worldwide ban! Thanks Maria!
