Magpies feel grief and even hold funeral-type gatherings for their fallen friends and lay grass "wreaths" beside their bodies, an animal behaviour expert has claimed.

When will these sily arrogant people get it through their thick heads that animals are caring compassionate beings who wuold probably join Care 2 given the chance. They may have a violent predatory side but have you been in a the crowd after a UK football game and the losing side fans go on the rampage! Animals seldom exhibit such selfish behaviou and only usually act in concert for the good or survival of their family unit or group much as we used to many years ago before we went solo! The only reason it seems to me that scientists and others don't appreciate the feelings mourning, joy etc of animals, birds etc is they have not taken the truoble to learn the language a bit like the British abroad who think the French, Germans or whoever are deaf rather than attempt even a few basic words of the language. This is the sort of attitude that keeps people devided period and it is a simple join the dots up job to see this in animals as well be they Magpies, Elephants or monkeys, cats, dogs, horses or whatever species you care to name!

I definitely believe that animals do have feelings and emotions. These studies have proven it.

Animals have emotions and also have souls. It is arrogant for us to believe otherwise. In history, the arrogance of humans, once led us to believe that the sun revolved around the earth. It's that same type of arrogance that lead some to believe that animals have no emotions or souls.

Rhonda.....Very true. And, this arrogance of man's
is leading all animals & us to the gallows regarding global warming.

Perhaps some animals already sense what it is we have done.

Thanks Maria for this special news!!!

I personally FIRMLY believe that even "birds" feel pain of loss and have more emotion than most Mankind when it comes to their fellow companions!

There was an E-Mail on Swallows where the male lost his mate do to a death, and he sat by the mate, stayed there sang a song and morned his companion.

We all could certainly take lessons from all of the creatures on this Earth...it is just way to sad that Man is so arrogent and "mindfull of himself" that he only thinks of what is "with Me" type of mind!

Totally is upsetting to me, we could learn so much from what is supposed to be the less "smarter creatures" on this Earth. Come to find out that these special animals are the smartest animals of all and Man is the DUMB one!

Rhonda...if I can send you another green star one coming at ya...you are right on!!!

a short story. i saw a baby bird fall into a lake after a unsuccessful flight attempt. a duck (common white one) swam out and continually flipped the baby with his bill back unto dry land and back to mamma. that was intellegent, problem solver, emotional, and compassonate. story over. you draw your own conclusions.

I know animals suffer loss like we do. Look at chimps and a lot of others. They cry and mourn deaths, they stay by the fallen ones in hopes that they will revive. I've had rescue animals that were so upset at the loss of their human companions they almost died of broken hearts. This was a very touching story, thank you for sharing it with us.

I do not see why only humans have the right to claim emotions. I believe that people do not want to believe it because then they would be wrong to torture them in farming and testing. It also makes people think that they are superior, sorry, how are we?
