Michael Brull, in Australia's 'The Age' suggests that 'Having lost the power of the gun in the West, apologists of religion have a new weapon: being offended.' He responds to an article by Greg Craven on being 'beset by atheists' who 'plagiarize' satan.

"Yet if the spread of the so called new atheism can encourage a new scepticism towards irrational dogmas and undeserving authorities, a very real public service will have been performed."

OK...I'll take on that role! When I'm not "besetting" them. (How DOES one "beset," anyhow?)

I LOVE the term "crybaby theists"; it's a little bit school-yard but sums up the point so well!! Thanks for the article River.

Reminds me of that article about the UN Resolution regarding protecting Islam from criticism.

Talk about CRY BABIES....look at this! Ben Stein made the following remarks....."Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?' "

So--hurricane Katrina is the fault of the ACLU, agnostics, civil libertarians and anyone else who objects to having Christian prayers/bible study imposed on public school children.

NOW>...DON'T YOU FEEL GUILTY!

excellent article. let 'em cry - i do believe in their freedom of speech(if only they could be as charitable) - its like "whatever." i can't take religious psychos very seriously anyway as their only arguments are based in superstition and tradition.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

Maybe...but sometimes, their "liberties" include stepping all over yours and mine!
