Are the Iranian Protests Another
US Orchestrated "Color Revolution?"

The claim is made that Ahmadinejad stole the election because the outcome was declared too soon after the polls closed for all the votes to have been counted. However, Mousavi declared his victory several hours before the polls closed.

A number of commentators have expressed their idealistic belief in the purity of Mousavi, Montazeri, and the westernized youth of Terhan. The CIA destabilization plan, announced two years ago (see below) has somehow not contaminated unfolding events.

The claim is made that Ahmadinejad stole the election, because the outcome was declared too soon after the polls closed for all the votes to have been counted.

However, Mousavi declared his victory several hours before the polls closed. This is classic CIA destabilization designed to discredit a contrary outcome. It forces an early declaration of the vote.

The longer the time interval between the preemptive declaration of victory and the release of the vote tally, the longer Mousavi has to create the impression that the authorities are using the time to fix the vote. It is amazing that people don’t see through this trick.

As for the grand ayatollah Montazeri’s charge that the election was stolen, he was the initial choice to succeed Khomeini, but lost out to the current Supreme Leader.

He sees in the protests an opportunity to settle the score with Khamenei. Montazeri has the incentive to challenge the election whether or not he is being manipulated by the CIA, which has a successful history of manipulating disgruntled politicians.

There is a power struggle among the ayatollahs. Many are aligned against Ahmadinejad because he accuses them of corruption, thus playing to the Iranian countryside where Iranians believe the ayatollahs' lifestyles indicate an excess of power and money.

In my opinion, Ahmadinejad's attack on the ayatollahs is opportunistic. However, it does make it odd for his American detractors to say he is a conservative reactionary lined up with the ayatollahs.

Commentators are "explaining" the Iran elections based on their own illusions, delusions, emotions, and vested interests.

Whether or not the poll results predicting Ahmadinejad's win are sound, there is, so far, no evidence beyond surmise that the election was stolen.

However, there are credible reports that the CIA has been working for two years to destabilize the Iranian government.

On May 23, 2007, Brian Ross and Richard Esposito reported on ABC News: “The CIA has received secret presidential approval to mount a covert “black” operation to destabilize the Iranian government, current and former officials in the intelligence community tell ABC News.”

On May 27, 2007, the London Telegraph independently reported: “Mr. Bush has signed an official document endorsing CIA plans for a propaganda and disinformation campaign intended to destabilize, and eventually topple, the theocratic rule of the mullahs.”

A few days previously, the Telegraph reported on May 16, 2007, that Bush administration neocon warmonger John Bolton told the Telegraph that a US military attack on Iran would “be a ‘last option’ after economic sanctions and attempts to foment a popular revolution had failed.”

On June 29, 2008, Seymour Hersh reported in the New Yorker: “Late last year, Congress agreed to a request from Bush to fund a major escalation of covert operations against Iran, according to current and former military, intelligence, and congressional sources.

These operations, for which the President sought up to four hundred million dollars, were described in a Presidential Finding signed by Bush, and are designed to destabilize the country’s religious leadership.”

The protests in Tehran no doubt have many sincere participants. The protests also have the hallmarks of the CIA orchestrated protests in Georgia and Ukraine. It requires total blindness not to see this.

Daniel McAdams has made some telling points. For example, neoconservative Kenneth Timmerman wrote the day before the election that “there’s talk of a ‘green revolution’ in Tehran.”

How would Timmerman know that unless it was an orchestrated plan? Why would there be a ‘green revolution’ prepared prior to the vote, especially if Mousavi and his supporters were as confident of victory as they claim?

This looks like definite evidence that the US is involved in the election protests.

Timmerman goes on to write that “the National Endowment for Democracy has spent millions of dollars promoting ‘color’ revolutions . . .

"Some of that money appears to have made it into the hands of pro-Mousavi groups, who have ties to non-governmental organizations outside Iran that the National Endowment for Democracy funds.”

Timmerman’s own neocon Foundation for Democracy is “a private, non-profit organization established in 1995 with grants from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), to promote democracy and internationally-recognized standards of human rights in Iran.”

As I watch the news I was horrified to see a beautiful girl shot through the heart. I am afraid much more will happen before it ends.

Events in Iran seem to be happening
faster than we can keep track of them,
especially with the news media being closed
out of the country. Could this lead to the
U.S. going to war against Iran? I sincerely
hope and pray not, as I keep as up to date as
I can with the events.
Thank you, Cheryl.

I cannot see this election fiasco in anything but black and white.....If the vote was fair, the ballots should be recounted. The Iranian people have a right to demand that much. I don't deny there has been outside interference, but whether there was some clandestine plan to destabilize the religious leadership, or whether the protests are orchestrated or not, the people have spoken and I, for one, would like to know for certain how they voted. All of the other deceptions should be dealt with appropriately, but lets not let them muddy the waters and stall justice for the Iranian voters.

Fear doese this.We have Mr Obama who is trying to reach out to other Nations, however we must hear also what Netenyahu is saying regarding Iran if these verbal threats were stopped then perhaps Iran could feel more secure.but we cant help the situation when the Ayatollah is calling all inhabitants of Britain Evil We have been petitioning our goverment not to attack Iran but if that is the thanks we get from a supposed religious leader then how can we help further and more to the point why should we now?

Here is what I posted in the Care2 poll on Iran:

President Obama is doing the correct thing by IGNORING calls from right-wingers who want him to make interfering gestures; which would give the Iran rulers an EXCUSE to "blame the US for the protests", which they are already attempting, without much success, to do. President Obama has been measured and correct in his responses.

However, I voted "depends". A very good idea has been put forward, that the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF DEMOCRATIC COUNTRIES AS A WHOLE, should step in and condemn the attacks and show support for the protesters. [Especially since International journalists have been brutally suppressed by the Iranian regime, in their attempts to cover this news.]

The sad truth is, that the govts of "Democratic" countries including ours, fear the student protests for Democracy MORE than they fear the Iranian ruling class, with whom [in spite of all their propaganda] they can conduct "business as usual", as all Ruling Classes do among themselves.

I am afraid that is why such International support as the young protesters deserve, has not been and will not be forthcoming. They are on their own. Even after the death of their martyr, 'Angel' and 'Voice', NEDA SOLTAN. R.I.P., Neda. I wish the protesters luck; and hope they can bring off a Revolution all by themselves; as they are the only ones they can rely on, now.

I think it is EXCELLENT that Care2 members are now AWARE of the CIA and America's covert role in so much of Middle Eastern [read 'Oil'] affairs; that the scales have finally dropped from people's eyes, and that the kind of stuff we were taught in Civics classes in school, has been exposed for the white-washing that it is and always was. That is all to the GOOD.

However, the notion that the present popular uprising in Iran, involving huge numbers of the country's young people and students, as well as people from the provinces and all classes, is solely due to the CIA spreading their money around, seems absurd.

OF COURSE the CIA has made covert efforts, and spent tons of U.S. taxpayers' money to boot, to 'de-stabilise' Iran's government. The CIA acts as the REAL, and secret, agent of US foreign policy; accountable to no-one but itself. That is FINALLY becoming Common Knowledge -- it's about time, too, even if at this point, there seems little we can do with this knowledge besides spreading the word.

However, this would not be the FIRST time in History, that a "covert" operation BACKFIRED. Look at Afghanistan, where the CIA actually recruited the Taliban, to fight against the Russians and Afghan Communists! Or an even better example, is agents of Czarist Russia who were active in promoting the Bolsheviks {Communists} just before the Russian Revolution! They certainly did NOT anticipate that their efforts to "protect" the Czarist regime, would have exactly the OPPOSITE effect!

An independent UK agency, has determined, that in several provinces, the "winners" got OVER 100% OF THE VOTE. OVER!!!
Also, the challengers {there were three of them, besides the "winners"}, the challengers IN THEIR OWN HOME PROVINCES AND OWN HOME TOWNS, lost the count. Again, !!! In Iran, people VERY much vote along Ethnic lines; so this vote count, where the "local guys 100% lost", is PATENTLY ABSURD.

Even the Iranian govt has been FORCED to admit, there were "some irregularities"!

In this independent UK analysis, which is available on the Internet tho I don't have the links right here, and which was done a few days ago: in this analysis, they figured that for A. to win, he would have had to have gotten ALL the votes from ALL the opposition parties; PLUS a huge percentage of votes from voters who voted AGAINST him in the previous election! Also, again, TOTALLY ABSURD AND NOT LIKELY.

Again, it is VALUABLE to EXPOSE the CIA ATTEMPT to control these elections! Spending your money and my money, to try and do so!!! The key word here, is "TRY". They are not "gods", that have the capacity to carry out ANYthing they "will". I think it is CLEAR, that actual events in real life got FAR BEYOND ANYTHING THE CIA COULD KEEP ANY SORT OF CONTROL OVER.

I think it is PERFECTLY CLEAR THAT THE VOTE COUNT IS WAY, WAY OFF. Clear to ANY objective, impartial observer. The Iranians en masse are not stupid, either.
I think it is PERFECTLY CLEAR that the WOMEN of Iran, who are taking a LEADING PART in this protest, which some are beginning to call a Revolution, are not just a bunch of dumb airhead females dancing to whatever tune the CIA tries to lead them on!!!
If you do not believe that this Iranian Revolt against Religious Repression is REAL, then you have not been keeping track of Iranian Feminism, the Iranian Women's Movement!!!!! Read MS magazine, or some of the BOOKS that have come out about Iran, for heaven's sake! There are also several Feminist organizations on the Internet, that it is not hard to find, that are keeping track of these things.... including Feminist organizations of Iranians abroad..... Please broaden your perspective to include the WOMEN OF IRAN!

I think the U.S. right-wing has shown it really WANTS the protesters to LOSE; as OUR right-wingers are naturally much happier dealing with THEIR right-wingers, as, in spite of all the propaganda designed to confuse the masses, they have more in common, than differences.......

And, furthermore, if the world gets fixed in its collective mind, all those images of youthful protesters including women and teenagers in the streets, then how can the Right-wing in this country "demonize" Iran and Iranian people any more, as the "Axis of, gasp! Evil"??? How to make the masses BELIEVE that bit of advertising? How can we stir up our citizens to support dropping bombs on people in the streets asking for Democracy?????
Not as easy as persuading support of the IRAQ invasion, huh?
That's why our right-wing pundits are trying to MINIMIZE the importance of this......
