NEW G20 DOCUMENTARY! Democracy 101
A look at the Pittsburgh G20 protests from the makers of "Terrorizing Dissent"
Indymedia, October 3rd, 2009
Made in Pittsburgh within five days of the G20 summit by a team from Pittsburgh Indymedia, Twin Cities Indymedia, Glassbead Collective, and Mobile Broadcast News, a new documentary: "Democracy 101 (Rough Cut)". Democracy 101 is a look at the policing and pattern of issues that arise during National Special Security Events. Made with footage from the recent repression of dissent in Pittsburgh, salvaged from the broken cameras, stolen video and arrested reporters, and independent journalists from around the country.

Wow going to blame the police for a bunch of radical anti-cap protesters that were set on destroying and causing chaos for the citizens of Pittsburgh. You people need a life.

A load of propaganda for "Freedom" is bandied around these days, but unrestricted "freedom" is anarchy. Everybody's freedom is restricted by the obligation to respect the laws and customs of the community in which he/she lives. In a democracy the opportunity arises every four or five years for the people to express their wishes to either retain or change their leaders and their policies. Persons attending demonstrations that lead to breaches of the law have no just cause for complaint if they are injured in conflict with those whose duty it is to uphold the law. Their behaviour sabotages genuine democracy by seeking to undermine the authority upon which an ordered civilised society is based.

Daniel you tooooook at those true words right outta my mouth... I agree.. incites violence and conflict they must face the consequences of it... It is definitely unlawful, just darn right rebellious, bad behaviour with no respect or reagrd for the law, and that is why the cops have to get hectic with some of them as they can get quite scarey.... I also would not like my car and possessions to get trash under a conflict like this either..

No Daniel we are going to hold responsible the people who ordered the police for this violation of an oath of orders and the officers who knew better because it is against their oath of serve and protect.- That go against the Constitution of the USA. The right of the people to peacable assemble and they were peacable untill the cops instigated the abuse and hello WildCat -U here again? Do U 2 not believe in the Constitution of these United States? Have U even read it?

thank you Faith, I was hoping an American would come along and say it, add in freedom of speech. I suggest they watch it again, and the others on utube not included in the documentary that are not msm, one a university student who can't believe this is allowed in America, he was in his dorm with alot of others and got surround by them and gassed, whether they werein or out, , kids, people shot with rubber bullets after being sprayed and DOWN.people BEATEN for JUST STANDING ON THE SIDEWALK. . Go explain to him why the cops stormed them, blocked them, gased them, then and read what they used, not used before it a testing ground, kids included. Arresting journalists is getting more and more frequent, smashing or taking cameras, taking the film, this happened here as well as is ILLEGAL, except for film for evidence and they have to GIVE IT BACK AND CAN'T USE IT UNLESS THEY GIVE IT BACK LEGALLY.

as for any accountability, there will be little if any. there very rarely is for them. I do not support violent demonstration, I do support self defense, I am no Ghandi.

Someone got arrested for using twitter during this. After mllions have and still do for Iran and other causes.

please do put the link in another browser and read it, to see the future and where the USA government has taken this and will be taking this, alot further. And whre the USA goes, others often following.

Faith, how about contributing with resolution and NOT revolution? How dare you try to manipulate the constitution for your cause when your cause goes against the very core of the constitution to begin with? As for a peaceful assemble that is a lie. You can't dress like terrorist, illegally march, shouting obscenities and threatening the citizens that live there. The police were in their right to serve and protect, bottom line the gathering was not permitted as required by the city and county and in effect you could be arrested and charged with violating Pennsylvania Criminal Code Title 18 Section 5503.

Faith, one more thing as for holding "those accountable" Maybe those that riot need to learn what "accountability" actually means and use better judgment next time instead of putting peoples lives at risk.

read your consitution again, and most of the protest was legally allowed, get your facts straight. The cops were the abusers, increasinly more miltarlized, and has escualted in even the past year since Obama took off dear. They are increasing violent and provoke, and arrest journalists, smash their cameras illegally. This has Kent state written all over it.
