After reading this, I realized that I'd never watched Glenn Beck either . . .So, I looked him up on YouTube.Frankly, I'm beginning to think that ALL MSM news people have become highly suspect, and have chosen the route of being "entertainers," instead of delivering unbiased reporting.

"Who's Alex Jones? Even according to some conservative bloggers, the anti-government, anti-Obama talker is a "freak" who's popular with "the tin-foil-hat crowd."...Who is Glenn Beck?...I suspect both are somewhat akin to Manuel in Fawlty Towers and have abslutely NO relevance on this planet,so why worry?...Thanks for the post Panda...How idiotic can idiotic be? :-)...A happy easter to you!

This is NOT FUNNY; these are NOT 'ENTERTAINERS'. This is GENUINELY DANGEROUS.
And SOME Care2 members have actually FALLEN FOR THIS RHETORIC. "The Obama Deception", the video mentioned in the article, was PROMOTED in the Care2 News Network by a member who happens not to be on Care2 just now.
There was also a video PROMOTED here, which ADVOCATED ARRESTING ELECTED OFFICIALS. {'Detaining' them, was the exact word used.} HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT from the following:
'.....Appearing on Fox News, Dick Morris recently made a wildly irresponsible comment that looks even worse in light of the Pittsburgh law-enforcement slayings: "Those crazies in Montana who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents because the U.N.'s going to take over' -- well, they're beginning to have a case."

And it's not just Fox News. Radio nut Michael Savage recently claimed that "we have a naked Marxist for president." And high-profile conservative blogger Erick Erickson contemplated the beating of politicians: "At what point do [people] get off the couch, march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?"'

Believe me, I have seen websites using EXACTLY this sort of rhetoric, advocating putting elected officials' 'HEADS ON PIKES'.
"Detaining", "beating to a bloody pulp", "heads on pikes"..... so, HOW SOON WILL WE BE SEEING ASSASSINATIONS OF VARIOUS ELECTED OFFICIALS, AS WELL AS THE MASS COP KILLINGS WE ARE HAVING NOW??? And note it says, "march down to the state legislator's HOUSE...." How soon will it be before good people are AFRAID TO RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE, BECAUSE THEIR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN WILL BE THREATENED???

Besides the killings of the three policemen mentioned in this article, there was ANOTHER killing IN THE SAME WEEK, of FOUR policemen in another city. In the SAME WEEK. ALL IT TAKES, IS ONE NUTCASE WITH AN ARSENAL OF WEAPONS.... just ONE.
It is NONSENSE, to say that these Right-wing talkers don't have any effect at all. And there are poisonous videos all over Youtube -- they have discovered the power the Internet has.

These radio talkers are DELIBERATELY FOMENTING FEAR, PARANOIA AND IRRATIONAL RAGE {taking the seeds of what's already there, and stirring them up to a fever pitch}; in order to bring about a state of CHAOS; which would aid a Right-wing reaction against any regulation policies {or de-de-regulation policies!} introduced by the Obama administration.
The Big Corporations are sponsoring these irresponsible talkers, because they want to go on their merry irresponsible and de-regulated way, just as they did under the Bushco mis-Administration; leading directly to the present Global Warming and Environmental mess we are in.

I wish Care2 members, even and ESPECIALLY those who oppose President Obama's policies, and often with very good reason, as I do, would THINK TWICE BEFORE ALLYING THEMSELVES WITH THE VIRULENT RHETORIC AND DANGEROUS DEMANDS OF THE RIGHT-WING TALK SHOW PEOPLE.
It is quite possible to oppose President Obama rationally and calmly, and propose better alternatives than random shootings of anybody who "represents government".
It is possible to oppose militarism and war with Civil Dis-obedience, as Quakers and many others do, and STILL BE NON-VIOLENT.

I AM REALLY APPEALING TO YOU, CARE2 MEMBERS, TO THINK RATIONALLY, TO ANALYZE, AND TO NOT GET CARRIED AWAY by the "easy" solution of violent cathartic action. It is against everything Care2 stands for.

Unfortunately, the {PREVIOUS BUSHCO GOVERNMENT'S} involvement in 9/11, is NOT "conspiracy theory". Altho these nutcases are USING that to whip up their audiences. Again, it is possible to SEEK FOR THE TRUTH ABOUT 9/11, and INSIST THAT THE GOVERNMENT COME CLEAN, WITHOUT, again, resorting to violent means or violent rhetoric about "overthrowing the government".

Only facts count! Knowledge is everything! But knowledge can be achieved only with open eyes and open mind without a prefixed opinion to support.

Unfortunately, as more and more people came to believe that 9/11 was an "inside job," the more potentially murderous and threatening their government became in their eyes. And the longer that possibility of government culpability is left unresolved, with the masterminds behind it left uncharged, the more suspicious it gets.

Read the article and just about everything that Glenn Beck has supposedly said has been promoted on Care2 by a member so I am not sure I see a difference. I might disagree, but sounds like free speech to me.
I have seen the Glenn Beck show 2 or 3 times, but never felt like shooting someone. People who shoot people are criminals or crazy. Normal law-abiding citizens don't get violent after watching TV shows or listening to radio shows. I listen to Air America sometimes too. and they can't be matched for so called "hate" speech. But again it is called free speech.

And I agree with Scarlett, that this white man is telling it like it is. He's not afraid to say things that no one, or at least very, very few will say. I don't watch much tv, but I've watched his show(s) for a long time and my gut feeling about him is that he is an honest man who is trying to help his fellow Americans and our country.

He isn't "perfect"t and someimes his style is a little like someone who has had too much espress, but I trust him.

o Beck's version of 'Thomas Paine' compares Obama's budget to Pearl Harbor and 9/11
o O'Reilly and Beck know why evil liberal bloggers criticize their fearmongering: it's jealousy
o O'Reilly in Bircherville: Obama's selling us out to 'one world government'
o Projection much? Glenn Beck warns: 'Fascism is on the rise'
o More Beck Babble: Wind power needs nukes to work

Beck: We don't even understand freedom anymore. We are a country that is headed toward socialism, totalitarianism, beyond your wildest imagination.

I have to tell you, I am doing a story tonight, that I wanted to debunk these FEMA camps. I'm tired of hearing about them -- you know about them? I'm tired of hearing about them. I wanted to debunk them.

We'll we've now for several days been doing research on them -- I can't debunk them! And we're going to carry the story tonight.

...It is our government -- if you trust our government, it's fine. If you have any kind of fear that we might be headed toward a totalitarian state, there is something going on in our country that it's -- it ain't good.

Hmmm. This is a completely different Glenn Beck from the one who was on Fox tonight. Does he have an evil twin or something?

Beck tried to portray himself yesterday as fundamentally skeptical of the claims -- but he sure had a funny way of showing it a few weeks ago. As you can see in the clip, he actually went on to report the "FEMA camp" claims credulously back then.

Well, better late than never. I'm actually looking forward to Part 2 of the debunking tonight, because the first part was excellent, and while Beck may be slow coming around, it's always better late than never.

Mind you, we won't be holding our breaths to see if the lesson sticks. You never know which Glenn Beck is going to show up on any given day.

The fact that Beck is: (1) a commentator, and (2) employed at Fox, should indicate to his Care2 fan base that he isn't a reliable news source, albeit a commentator no less.

From its beginning, Fox (Faux) News wasn't striving for accuracy, accountability or honesty, rather it was principally designed for the majority of impatient US Americans who are unable to concentrate for more than 6-7 seconds (15 seconds tops) on any topic, and their overwhelming compulsion to be constantly entertained.

If Beck was indeed after the truth, as some here believe, then he would put forth an effort to enlighten his audience instead of willfully and capriciously engaging in partisan sniping, character assassinations, logical inconsistencies, and the fallacy of insufficient cynicism? And why is he even working at Fox if he were truly a truthseeker?

Thank you for posting this. Having voted for Obama, I am the target of a Right Wing Republican person's propaganda against Obama. One of the their most recent is using the HR 45 Bill to accuse Obama of proposing Overwhelming Gun Control. I checked our HR 45 on Snope's com just to find out what was really going on. http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/blairholt.asp
This is an old gun control bill; that has never left the sub-committee; and not likely to do so. It originated during Bush's Presidency. You can read more about the "Right Wing" Propaganda latest scare tactic at the snope.com site.

Never ALLOW anyone to make up YOUR mind FOR YOU, by offering up their view of how things are with a few quotes and/or sound bites - usually taken out of context. IF you can't give Glenn Beck more than what some liberal biased site has to say, then YOU can't handle the truth.

He IS NOT a fear monger as tha'left would have you believe, but then he's getting higher ratings than they are, so they have to make him out to be the bad guy, when it's them who is skirting around the real stories. Be VERY careful what you follow on sites that voice opinions that are not equally represented. Follow them with regularity and you too will become lured into their negative web of BS lies, and their warped way of thinking.

Oh, and to answer those who questioned 'who else would have him,' Glenn Beck has been a 'on the air' MANY years AND was with CNN before Faux Views . . . or rather their sister station HLN.

You have got to be kidding! Where were you when NBC - a network that is part of broadcasting history, there since the beginning of the television experience, when they began promoting the 'wonder and awe' of Obama? YOU don't think that is WRONG? Give me a break!

After the tea parties of yesterday, and the way the media covered it today, YOU SHOULD BE ROYALLY OUTRAGED at how the people were called 'teabaggers' with laughter. If you don't know the vulgar meaning of the word, please look it up on Google, and view the Urban Dictionary meaning to see how disgusting the news channels are about people speaking up for themselves.

And dont' think I'm 'in-the-bag' for Faux Views either, because I WAS a diehard NBC follower from forever, until they all lost their neutrality before the primaries, BUT by comparison to other networks, they are what they say - and regularly give both sides of ANY debate an opportunity to voice their view and let the viewer decide what to think.

Be VERY careful you don't AlLOW yourself to be guided into what you believe by ANYONE. Right or left, liberal or conservative, choose the person to represent you and/or your family and community based on YOUR values and morals. Not a website that preaches conspiracy theories or only cries when THE People speak up for themselves and it's not their opinion. WAKE UP.

To those wheeling out the argument, that Beck's diatribe's are a manifestation of free speech,I would say:
1)We all have a responsibility to our culture and to individuals,to show responsibility, and to reflect facts accurately.Fox blurs the line between new's and propaganda..it purport's to be a news channel,it also purport's to be "fair and balanced ,but that is dishonest-a consumer fraud really,as it is really acting out an agenda,to distort, embarrass and discredit left wing figure's and policie's while offering an airbrushed view of conservativism and it's representative's.
Fox wishes to "influence"politic's..not report it.
2)I would question how freedom is furthered, when the ordinary American cannot set up a news channel in their own image, whilst a conveniently American billionaire can?The question must be about power ?..and who is capable of wielding it.Can you set up a news channel?no of course not,you can't afford it..so immediately freedom becomes the exclusive property of the very very wealthy. The view that all opinions deserve to be expressed is one that I support..but as to whether your view is "heard"..and by how many?now those are more fundamental questions..
It's all about power..and a failure to grasp that, makes any analysis supericial and very shallow.

Fox New$ : Glenn Beck's Obama "Racist" Attack Costs Him Advertisers

Fox News' Glenn Beck is feeling the consequences of
his controversial comments on the July 28 episode of "Fox and Friends," when he
said that Barack Obama was a "racist" who had a "deep-seated hatred for white
people or the white culture."

If you haven't done so already, please sign our petition to Beck's advertisers, and ask your friends and family to do the same. Moving forward, we'll keep you informed about effective ways you can pressure the advertisers to withdraw their support from Beck's show.

Here's a list of some contact info for sponsors http://foxnewsboycott.com/glenn-beck/glenn-becks-sponsors-named-in-donny-deutchs-boycott/

According to TVNewser, Beck advertisers Proctor and Gamble, Lawyers.com and Progressive Insurance have all pulled their ads from Beck's 5PM ET show. This comes in the wake of groups like ColorOfChange.org's efforts to
get companies to distance themselves from Beck.
