THE TV show that has spooked millions with its footage of hauntings, ghosts and poltergeists is today exposed as a fake - by one of its own stars. Old story? May be, but nevertheless it should be kept new...

X-Testers:

Techniques

In the following “How-To” episodes, we’ll show you how to record images of UFOs in bright daylight, capture ghostly sounds and create your own ghost photos with semi-transparent figures and floating orbs of light. These use some simple techniques that we’ll help you along with, but a basic understanding of photography and sound recording is useful.

UFO Photography

One of the oldest tricks in the book is the use of props and miniatures to produce unlikely scenes, which has been used since the days of black and white movies. UFO sightings are the easiest to re-create using this technique – with a good sense of perspective and some miniature props, it’s not hard to capture images of strange objects floating over a cityscape.

Creating Orbs of Light

If you understand how light is captured on film, it’ll be a cinch to demonstrate how the effect of ‘floating orbs’ can be produced at night. Since film (and digital sensors for that matter) essentially only record visible light, dark moving objects are usually rendered invisible and this can be used to great effect to fool the eye. Flashlights, paper cutouts, lanterns and camera strobes are just some of the items needed, along with a willing accomplice in dark clothing. Remember to use a camera mounted on a sturdy tripod, since long exposure times are needed to get the right effect.

Capturing Ghostly Apparitions

For ghost sightings, we’ll look at the photographic technique of double-exposure. Simply put, this method is performed by exposing the same frame or roll of film twice, therefore superimposing one image on top of the other. Some of the greatest hoax ghost photos are created this way.

Sinister Sound Recordings

For ghostly audio recordings, there’s a fair amount of ‘play acting’ involved but only with sound. Just as Foley artists create fabricated and exaggerated audio effects for movies, the same techniques can be used to record strange happenings. These can include ‘invisible’ people walking on sand, sinister voices in the night, furniture creaking and moving by itself and so on.

If you sit and truly watch the show, you can tell its faked. The woman, I guess Yvette, claims to be a paranormal researcher but acts like a frightened child at every little noise! I used to watch it for a giggle, but it gets old after about two shows.

They've got their nerve! Like to make them sleep in a truly haunted house and film their authentic fear.

As is the also the case with "spirituality and teachers" , when we see information about "intuitiion & insights", we need to sift the wheat from the chafe.

I've been doing paranormal reserach for the past 20 years. This show just started in Malaysia, I think I saw all the shows until the 3rd or the 4th episodes or whatever it is called, when I finally thought, "I had about enough of this!" People are believing in this and it needs to stop. I was willing to tolerate it at first, keeping an open mind to see, understand or find something I did not, but seeing every show, the act, the pretense of the so called ghost medium and all the other technics and acting skills to fool people just to increase the TV rating and income, I decided to search for evidence to expose their lies. I just thought there has to be someone out there who thought like me and had the means to expose them. So, here we are...

I like to watch these shows for fun (CourtTV had one last year that was a real hoot.) and because I believe there truly are things that can't be explained. However, when television networks promote this type of deception they are preying on the gullible and providing free advertising and legitimacy for charlatans.

That's true Tracy, but if a particular team cannot prove any evidence of real paranormal activity within a particular time, they stop receiving money to continue their work, therefore they start creating things.

I became personally involved, in 1974.

There are two realities. The first is CSI-COP. I ask everyone to check them out.

The other reality is Dan Akroyd's PSI Factor.

Tne consumate reality, the true synthesis is, you do not go after the paranormal, you wait...till it comes after you. I ask everyone to honestly stop the waste of life, money, natural resources chasing after what is not real.

We are opposed to the war in Iraq and the war machine as it destroys life. Wasting lives chasing after what is not real also destroys life.

There is so much to offer helping making this a better planet. We can stop eating meat, live in a modest home, support public transportation. We have the capability of making other people's lives better.

Wow Nick and I don't know if we get that here in Australia, but what a lot of people were conned into thinking it was real. I think a lot of these so called reality shows are fake too.

Thanks for exposing this. I was watching "GHOST CATCHERS" or something like that the other day. Just because evidence is sometimes fabricated doesn't mean that such things do not take place. In my lifetime I have seen several UFO's. Some were photographed by others and later appeared on TV, and so far as I know a few may not have been seen by anyone else, nobody I knew anyway. I feel sure at least one was a secret government craft, but seriously doubt they all were. I've also had a few encounters with ghosts as well, some human and some not. My cousin had one such encounter near the same place I did years earlier, but neither of us knew the other had seen the same thing at a different time until years after the last sighting, but our descriptions were the same, and this was out in the ocuntry where nobody was likely to have been present to pull any tricks.

The people who watch and believe the "reality" TV shows are also the ones who buy and believe all the supermarket tabloids and their crap. Humans are far too gullible!

Anyone who claim to see ghosts must get your experience tested by genuine psychologists, scientists and relevant paranormal bodies to get approval for authenticity. Corroborating incidents and a healthy dose of skepticism are more apt to produce the real thing and to help the resulting image or claims to stand up under scrutiny and disbelief.

Also, seeing a psychiatrist would really help. It does not mean that you are crazy, but it is better that you get your mental processes checked as well by professionals to confirm that you are not having any chemical imbalances in your brain that causes mild and time to time schizophrenic psychosis experience which causes the creation of imaginary illusions on many things that wasn't simply there.

The TV show is one issue, ghosts are another. Maybe they did falsify some stuff because the ghosts did not want to perform on TV. The last reply was rather insulting implying that anyone who has experienced seeing a ghost has a chemical imbalance which a whacked out psychologist could fix with some toxic pills from their bag of tricks. The Bible speaks of the spirit world, so evidently you are not religious. I think all religions speak of a spirit world. Are you afraid of ghosts, Nick?

Linda, I've studied and researched paranormal activities for the past 20 years. I've been to places where not many can even imagine to go. However, to answer your question, yes, I am indeed afraid of ghosts if they truly exist because I'm not sure what they might or can do to me. But courage is not freedom from fears; it is being afraid and going on. I am not brave, I simply react. I act accordingly to whatever must be done in whatever situation I am needed in. I share this information with you because you asked. I hope you would not judge me as being egoistic or again with anything else that may come to your mind in your freedom to assume.

I have also studied and reserached all the religions of the world including its religious text/books; from the believes of the stone man right up to the believes of the modern man, including satanism, occults, philosophy, psychology, psychiatry and all alike within that period of time. I completely understand the evolution of religious believes. So, you probably say that with the power of Christ and in Jesus name, I can be free from fear even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. And in the instance if the power of evil attempts to attack me, I can cast them out in the Lord's name when I have accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord. But this topic is not about religious faith. It is about authenticity. It is also about enforcing credibilty for paranormal claims including metaphysics. We are not saying people are lying. We only want to confirm people's claims while we work as a team.

I like to ask you to try to carefully read my statement again with the spirit of peace and friendship Linda, and you might understand that it was not meant to insult but rather to help enforce and authenticate paranormal claims in order to build credibilty. We simply can't take hearsays and only faith as a basis for truth no matter who or what the source is. However, if you choose to believe what you want to believe, that's fine, but before asking others to believe what you believe, cooperation to get yourself tested is important to remove any possible errors and hallucinations. I have respect for you as a person and to your believes, including the Bible and your religious status, Linda.

I hope you can have the same respect to mine.

Thank you.

TOO bad fakes get press like this and US with real gifts get over looked! THEY make US all seem like fakes...and BELIEVE ME WE ARE NOT!

NICK you are not gifted, face it, only GIFTED people see spirits, and we are NOT SICK or need genuine psychologists, what is a GENUINE PSYCHOLOGIST anyway...aren't they all a FIGMENT OF YOUR IMAGINATION...
YOU can do all the "STUDY" you want but only gifted unskeptical people see.
YOU do not see because YOU are closed minded.
YOURS not anyone else's.
If a person has not seen GOD but still believes in him does he really exist? IS he not in spirit form?
HUM???
What is REAL to some is REAL
and to you it is not OK?
YOUR reality has not experienced seeing Ghosts or OTHER paranormal things, but SOME of us HAVE, and are not on drugs or medications...OR NEED TO BE!

well, all i can say, is that if such things are real (like shakespeare said - there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt in your/one's philosophy - after all), hoaxes and fakes like this will just pretty much ruin or taint the reputation of those who are not an hoax/fake.
which is both unfair and sad.
but you know, when these guys do this for money... you've got to wonder.
some people that i hear about having 'gifts' or whatever it is called, and are supposed to be real, they never charge/ask for money, they do what ever they do for free.
my grand-ma did. but it was different, she was a sort of healer/witch. her daughters didn't like it and tried to prevent her from doing it, but she helped as many people she could anyway. and if the local priest - catholic - didn't see what she did as wrong, i wonder what my aunts were so freaky about...

Nick--don't make such a general judgement about all people. There are many gifted people who have truly seen these phenomena and it is not your place to trash can them all. True, there are some who fake it for profit and some who are mentally unbalanced, but the make a lump sum judgement is just as bad.

Don't judge me until you have walked a mile in my shoes.

I don't believe this. Doesn't anyone understand what I'm saying? I should've just remain "opinionless" from the start. I'm sorry if you all are interpreting my words to something else other than what I really meant. I'm sorry...
