Homeless 'mole people', discovered in underground tunnels and shanty homes living in squalor, in Kansas City Missouri are evicted. What are the causes? What if this happens to You? Any Solutions Possible?

People who aren't homeless or not facing it don't understand.

"We have become a society/world that places the value of money above the value of life, all living beings-SO THAT IS THE REAL PROBLEM."

Indeed, and yet some would defend the greed of the 1%. Don't understand it myself.

Gloria- you are correct. It seems to me that people really don't. I have a niece who is very close to the edge and was homeless technically (with two toddlers) after she had to leave her husband.

She still can't really afford a place to live but that gets into another long story.

In England, there are derelict homes, yet people crying out for more housing to be built. One solution to that is that you repair and refurbish homes where you can, or demolish and rebuild where it's a lost cause. In a world where we have abundant resources being exploited, no one should really be homeless, except perhaps out of conscious protest. Just think if one (political) party could rehouse this class of homeless people, and then help to find them jobs, there might be a whole bunch of new votes at a future election.

Shame! All people are alike, and should be treated with respect. Those people need all the help they can get. They just want to live like everybody else.

While we are remarking that there are good life choices which may ultimately lead to poverty and homelessness, I believe it is worth pointing out that there are also some terrible life choices which nonetheless lead to riches and selfishness. Sane people would not want to trade lives with the, literally, "filthy rich." Yet they are by and large respected. This also is wrong, and perpetuates the problems at the other end.

On the one side are those in need who would, if given a chance, glady invest their time and effort in the labor of reestablishing living quarters, growing edibles, care giving to children and the elderly when they are not manually strong enough to help in other ways, etc.

... while on the other side are those lazy take-all give-nothing types and/or scam artists who spoil it for those worthy of such an investment of necessary time and effort.

Must first separate the wheat from the chaff so that the rebirth of truth, compassion, caring/sharing becomes the accepted way of life ... not an easy task in our current secular world.

interesting how homeless people are considered "dirty" because they can't afford the quarters to wash their clothes at a laundermat, and how some rich are "filthy rich" and can buy $300 purses (cheap-being on the low end of the purse price scale), $80 face creams (cheap being on the low price compared to a shot of Botx in the face).....some folks dont have a dime (quarter) and others have a quarter million to blow for a party.

A frightening and sad situation. Many of the rich and corporations often try to hide from the truth that they can perhaps do just a bit more. Much of the protest over raising taxes a small fraction neglects social programs that can be a preventative measure against homelessness for many.

But, didn't Romney say the safety net which he wanted to shred took care of all these people?

Romney and his cronies want to put even more people on the streets? Let's take their 3rd and 4th homes and turn them into apartments for the people they displace and shame? There must be a way that wouldn't land the rest of us in jails and it would be justice!

Most homeless people were just "ordinary" folk not so long ago & then something terrible happens that they have no control over & changes their life forever. With the cost of living spiralling out of control more & more people are going to become victims. Homeless people are human with feelings, values & dreams.Unfortunately society "looks down" on them bcos they lack finances to support themselves. Sad
