I do not know what politicians believe in - if they believe in God or any higher power that created this planet. Hopefully for their sakes, they do not because "they" are allowing life forms to be cruelly destroyed. Ripping all of the fish from the bottom of the ocean and destroying everything by grabbing as much fish as possible and throwing away half of the dead fish back because they are not suitable for human consumption. Greedy! Clubbing baby anything to death is not nice. I certainly hope all of the people that have the power to make or break rules regarding whether man respects and honors this planet or allows man to "pllage and plunder" - have a nice condo in hell!

Captain Paul Watson is the Man of the sea.................The killers of these baby seals should remember what goes around comes around..............It is beyond my comprehension how anyone could kill an animal for any reason except in moments of self defense/survival. The killing of these precious babies is nothing more than shear greed!!!!!!

Think of tomorrow-
Plant seeds
Grow trees
Make a forest
For Mother Nature
Ans her animals.......................

What Loyola Hearn wants us to do is to every day say “I respect the oceans” but don’t actually do anything to protect them. I remember how rich with diversity the oceans off of Canada’s coasts once were and not so long ago. Now, the oceans have been diminished immensely and all this clown from Newfoundland can say is we must “remember and respect” the seas.

Stop killing seals Mr. Hearn. Stop illegally slaughtering bowhead whales. Get your mad-dog Newfoundland fishermen to stop shooting sea birds and marine mammals on sight and to stop tossing their garbage overboard. Stop the factories from polluting the rivers. Close down the salmon farms. Outlaw bottom dragging. Do something instead of sending out flowery letters asking us celebrate our oceans.

Go Captain Watson.Loyola hearn is a callous and sadistic minister concerned only with economics which are not even sustainable and never will be. Canada's lack of animal protection laws is deplorable and leaves them closer to the dark ages than many countries and in line with the likes of China and other Asian countries in the cruelty stakes. You are physically able to kill defenceless animals, you just don't have the right. It is time to modernise and learn some civility and learn that greed is a nasty vice.

How can that man (Hearn, that is) say those words??? If only they were true. I'm not sure how he can sleep. Thank God for people like Captain Watson. What a great response.

Canada govt., from some things I have read in the past, seem to hold themselves in higher esteem than America, but I did not realize they are JUST AS BAD when it comes to hypocrisy and pollution etc etc. Shame on Canada! They need to wake up just as much as any other govt. not hearing the messages of conservation!

Ditto what Nadia said!

To Rose Sutherland: Unbelievable, many of these politicians are VERY religious. I believe in God, but I believe that He created ALL life to be loved, respected, appreciated, etc. I cannot for a moment think that He would have created all the beauty that surrounds us in Nature to be destroyed by one HORRIBLE species.

I love this man. He has the look, words, and bearing of a kind and honorable man. If only all Canadian men were like him and would hold that beautiful little seal so gently in his arms -instead they would beat it to death with blood flying everywhere. I can't comprehend why...for furs? when it's so incredibly beautiful on this living breathing animal? I think it's hideous on a woman no matter how young, rich or beautiful. How dare she wear another being's furs when there are alternatives in this day and age? I'll take a man like this one any day over those dullards that kill for money and sell their souls in the process. Noted

Oh Oh...I liked that so much that I thought it was worth dragging over for a repeat. Great job Shepherd!! Hear,Hear!!
Captain Watson: And when we do, we can depend on the government to harass and persecute us. When I chased Spanish and Cuban drag trawlers off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada had me arrested. Because David Suzuki has spoken out against the government, the David Suzuki Foundation has been audited three times. All environmental groups that speak out against the government have had their tax status removed like Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd or are the object of aggressive measures by the government to remove their status like they are presently doing with the Suzuki Foundation.

What Loyola Hearn wants us to do is to every day say “I respect the oceans” but don’t actually do anything to protect them. I remember how rich with diversity the oceans off of Canada’s coasts once were and not so long ago. China is no paragon of animal compassion... they brutally kill dogs and cats for fur... and then they eat them. The treatment of intelligent pigs is even worse.

The other Asian countries are no better.
