Hollywood is converting blockbuster films into 4-D because cinemagoers are shunning pricey multi-dimensional 3-D versionsBut the experience has left some fans feeling sick, damp and pummeled after watching movies like Kung Fu Panda 2 and the latest ......

If I can not afford 3D how will I be able to afford 4D and can my health afford it,, No thanks I shall just stay home and watch reruns of the Golden Girls. Beside this is old hat, the Alien ride in Univeral has an alien spit down your neck while someone throws a bucket of water in your face.. all good fun.

Yikes! I would like to go just one time for the experience of doing so, but I do not like the idea of "added smells/scents"......My imagination does that already!

Even the term 3D annoys me in relation to film. It's not 3D, it's stereoscopic.
And turning the cinema experience into a fairground ride is no substitute for a good, well acted story... film producers seem to forget that once the special-effects budget gets above 5 figures.

There's no such thing as 4D. What's described in the article is a bunch of cheap environmental effects kind of a Disneyland ride. Pretty lame and stupid but greed has no limits.

I really wish they'd quit hyping special effects and just focus on putting good stories worth telling on the big screen. No need for bloated budgets, just talented actors (preferably not overly famous ones), good directing, scriptwriting and compelling stories. The classics are always a good choice I think. In the meantime, I'd rather stay home with a good book.

Kentucky Fried Movie beat 'em to it on this one with 'Feelaround' effects on the movies. To me, it's all overkill, regular 2D talkies are plenty. Multichannel sound is alright, but the articulated seats is an overpriced frill for more than an amusement park ride as is the split-image 3D effect. I'd never pay the extra. I know it's an attempt by the cinema companies to get some business back from DVD rentals, but it's over the top...

Perhaps if "Hollywood" remembered the basics, such as good acting and plot development; then they wouldn't be so dependent upon high tech smoke and mirrors to justify outrageous ticket prices at the box office.

I dont like the idea, not only because I dont want to throw up after every single film I see, but what if all the smells and whatever end up distracting me from the film? Think about it: would you focus on the corpses that you see on the screen if you can smell their stench?

First 3D now 4D, it kind of makes one wonder what's next. Thanks Anna.
