People will post just about anything on social networking sites. And the information can be used against them.

from the article: "What these and other cases show is that employers and authorities are now monitoring what people imagined were private websites – and using the contents against them. Last September, David Rice, Britain's second-ranked tennis junior, and Naomi Brady, national U-18 champion, had their funding pulled and coaching suspended after the Lawn Tennis Association found pictures of them drinking beer, partying and, in Ms Brady's case, posing at a nightclub with her legs wrapped around a vending machine. And last summer, Oxford University proctors disciplined students after pictures of them dousing each other in shaving foam, flour and silly string in post-exam revelry were found on their Facebook pages

What does all this do in the end? It suppresses Free Speech and makes everyone "scared" to discuss or give n "opinion", or worse yet, "make a mistake" in an angry moment, which all of us do. You can now be "disfranchised" or chastised for your opinion or frustrating moment. FREEDOM LOST!! DON'T THINK!! DON'T SPEAK!!

Thank You for this information. I'm aware of this but most people don't know about it.
I also agree with Agnes that this is very important!

they say if you stop using msn, hotmail, then it will delete your account. you could transfer all your stuff to a new account and the my space would end when your account does. or make my space private, and put all the rubbish you get in spam.

i think with facebook, is you give as much info as you wish, and no more or no less, kind of like here. also you have a choice of who you want on your friends list, the same as here.

i think all places have good and bad parts, and people, its just following your heart to what you feel comfortable about sharing.

Ikey, what a great gesture of goodwill to create a profile to tell us how wonderful myspace is
.Many here do have a myspace account as well. if you have taken the time to read the article , you would have learned about privacy issuses in regards to any site like care2, or myspace or facebook, regardless where...one has to be careful what to share and who may be searching to get info on you..if it is work related, or healthcare

People just have to be aware of what they post of themselves. You would think it would be common sense not to post the most intimate details of one's life or pics for that matter. Can't blame MySpace--blame those who post their personal info.

I am aware of some problems at myspace.com. But that should not be the reason why people should not join that awesome site and enjoy all that they offer. My idea is that despite all the inherent problems at social networking sites, myspace.com is among the greatest inventions on the internet that I can think of and that is why there are more than 100,000,000 accounts and members. It is beyond belief. And don't forget membership is FREE! The problems that some members are having is that when they go to get codes to edit their myspace.com site from other websites who support myspace.com platform, they are asked if they wanted to login into their myspace account and when they say yes and enter their login info, they are phished. Sometimes those other websites that they go to get codes are disguised phishing sites and most myspacers do not know it and fall into their traps easily and get phished or deleted. As for privacy issue, if you are aware that whatever information that you give out online can be obtained by anyone, then you should be very careful what information you give out. This will help avoid privacy issues problems.

Elgin: different people would have different views about this issue. Despite that there should be a common ground to all. This is why I agree with you because you make a lot of sense.

Those who say they have nothing to hide, usually do!
