It's official. Scalding a lab monkey to death in a hot-water rack-washer doesn't violate any federal animal welfare laws. That's the ruling from the U.S. Department of Agriculture following an exclusive KIRO Team 7 Investigation .....

Trudi, this is so wrong. That monkey was a living animal that had Feelings! Oh I am so so upset. When are people going to realize that you cannot think you are superior to an animal. You are not when you choose to not care for them. We are the care takers of the EARTH and ANIMALS...As you can see Trudi I am upset. Poor monkey..I did cry for him then and I cry for him now. For there was never justice for him at all to say a law has not been violated...what about the monkey? ..noted..thank you Trudi.

Sick disgusting and inhumane. Really makes me and breaks my heart to know people thrive on this kind of horrible act.

This is sick. This case needs to be addressed much better. Or at all, actually... they get nothing for it, amazing. This now may set a precedent that anyone working in a lab can harm or kill a monkey from taking out aggravation or negligence and get away with it.

Noted with disgust. How many promises are we expected to believe? This people are under the"watchful eye"?? of the USDA. Doesn't appear that they are too watchful and reducing the fine was a disgrace. Why do people have so little regard for animal welfare? I just don't understand it.

our goverments watchful eye only extends to it's interests and pocket book -always has- yes it is a disgrace- but when man believes that animals have no souls and he was given dominion over the earth and his beliefs system are very very much in a tiny box- there is not much more one can expect.-however thanks to all the people like you those times are and will continue to change.Dream a new way and Be the change u wish to see in it. For it is certain that what it will take is an awakining of heart for full change to take place-but untill then laws will have to do. for when the laws are written in the heart they are not needed in a book- untill then we need to find out how it is that one can get jail time and a fine for abusing your pet and nothing happens here for this horror.-perhaps it is because they are research animals and the laws are different for that?It is an abomination that this occurs!

I guess this doesn't really surprise me, unfortunately. Our federal government is so busy lining their pockets in every way they can and ignoring the humanitarian issues in our country that I am at a loss of what to think of this entire situation any longer. I've never been so discouraged with our administration as I am now!

What does it take to for the prosecutors to find something so horrific that it is deemed a crime? I would have thought that this would qualify.

This is NOT RIGHT! In my opinion there is hidden information not being provided. Someone got something to let this slide without repercussions. Complaints generate more than that one piece of paper. I am beyond skeptical. Something is definitely amiss.
Thanx for the update Trudi.
