Helen Thomas Is Out of Work - Good Thing We've Got A "Free" Press Here.

Helen Thomas is out of work. She's an old lady. She bad-mouthed Israel and the Jews. She's out of work.

Pat Buchanan is still working. He said, "This has been a country built, basically, by white folks." Forgetting about 248 years of the official enslavement of millions of Africans upon whose backs and corpses the entire South was built; the nearly slave, forced labor of the Chinese who constructed, by hand, the transcontinental railroad; and the massive contributions of people of many colors throughout the 20th century, including all the non-Caucasian war dead -- none of these omissions cost Pat his job. But then, Buchanan isn't an old lady and he didn't say a single bad word about Israel or the Jews. He's still working.

Michael Savage is still working. You don't even want to know the things he's said. If you haven't heard him, and I told you, you wouldn't believe it. One thing you never heard him say was a bad word about Israel. Check him out. He's no Brad Pitt -- that's for sure -- but Savage isn't an old lady either. Michael Savage is still on the radio.

Jim Quinn too. He's working. Nice fella? Sure he is. Called Nancy Pelosi a "Bolshevik Bitch with a Mallet." Last time I checked the Speaker wasn't Jewish. And the House of Representatives was in Washington DC not Jerusalem. Jim Quinn's no old lady. So, his job is still there.

Neal Boortz is still working, on-the-air daily. He called welfare recipients "human parasitic garbage lining up to get their applications to loot." Boortz also said that Katrina survivors living in FEMA trailers shouldn't be allowed to vote. But he never said a bad word about Israel, never complained about Jews taking anyone's land, never said they should go "home" -- wherever that might be. Neal Boortz is not an old woman and he is still employed.

Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity... all of them - The Glitter Boys. It doesn't matter what they've said, or about whom they've said it. You've seen each of them. Not the most attractive men in the bar, not even at closing time. But hardly old women. No, and they're all still working.

Archconservative media analyst William Kristol is still writing and still appearing on the FOX News cable channel. Still working. Still managing despite the difficulties he outlined when he said, "...white women are a problem. That's you know, we have to do deal with." He sure wasn't taking about himself. I don't mean Kristol's not white. He is. But he's not a woman, surely not an old woman and he never said the Jews or Israel was a problem "That's you know, we have to deal with."

The right-wing doesn't have a monopoly on secure employment in the American media. Keith Olbermann has a great job. He's arguably the most successful center/left or progressive working in today's mass media culture. Of course, aside from Rachel Maddow, he's the only one. What did Keith say about Sarah Palin? "That woman is an idiot!" He's still employed. Well, perhaps truth is an absolute defense, Then again, maybe not, if you're talking about Israel or Jews. Is Palin Jewish? I don't think so. Jewish girls are really smart, aren't they?

Even sports reporters on television get in on this one. The often delightful David Feherty, CBS-TV golf guru, went nuts one day and told a joke about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden together with a US soldier. "If you gave any US soldier a gun with two bullets in it," Feherty said, hitting into the proverbial out-of-bounds hazard, "there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death." David Feherty has a great accent, an interesting little beard and no one would mistake him for an old lady. Also, he hasn't had a bad thing to say about Israel or Jews -- not that we've heard on TV anyway. He's still there, still working, still doing CBS's golf coverage.

There was a time when people could take the position that the UN, together with the US and the European Powers, had no business establishing a country called Israel, in a part of the world that was neither the US or Europe, as a Jewish State for Jews who were mainly Europeans. It wasn't a popular position to take. It wasn't a position I would take. But there was a time when expressing that point of view, right here in the United States, wouldn't cost you your job. Not even if you were an old lady.

Times have changed. Helen Thomas is out of work. She's an old lady. She bad-mouthed Israel and the Jews. She's out of work.

Good thing we've got a "free" press here.

Ya know, I'm not saying she's right, because I felt her comments, as an esteemed member of the press, should have been more sensitive.

However, I am disgusted by the immediate "tromping" she got, based on the fact that her opinion does not agree with the currently politically correct consensus of the government.

From Democracy Now!:

Veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas has retired amid a firestorm of criticism over comments she made on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Widely known as "the dean of the White House press corps," Thomas is the most senior White House correspondent and has covered every president since John F. Kennedy. In a brief video interview with the website RabbiLive.com, Thomas said her message to Israelis is to "get the hell out of Palestine." Thomas also suggested Israeli Jews should return to Poland, Germany or the United States. Thomas later issued a statement saying, "I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon." We speak to former Senator James Abourezk, the first Arab American in the Senate.

Sorry Dave, not true. Most recently on June 4 he wrote this;

He has also been criticized rigorously for his book "Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War" a good read actually.

He is a rare conservative in that he is highly critical of US foreign policy tilted toward Israel but unfortunately your other observations are also true.

Her truth didn't agree with "Truth according to the Zionists," who know and accept ONLY their "truth," so she can no longer be tolerated in an official press position in a U.S. in which the mainstream media has been controlled by Zionists.

The following article is packed with information on Zionist control of the media in America:

God Bless Helen Thomas

By Roger Tucker

As everyone knows, Helen Thomas, the doyenne of the Washington Press Corps, has gone into retirement after making some heretical remarks about Israel and Israelis. The current wikipedia entry reads in part as follows:

"On May 27, 2010, outside a White House Jewish heritage event, Rabbi David Nesenoff asked if Thomas had any comments on Israel. Thomas replied, "Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine... Remember, these people are occupied, and it's their land." She was then asked where the Israelis should go, to which she replied: "they should go home" to "Poland, Germany,... America and everywhere else." Thomas subsequently issued an apology on her personal web site: "I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon."

She was perhaps the last representative of a proud tradition of American journalism, of calling it like you see it and damn the torpedoes - in a word, of telling the truth. Presidents have either trusted or feared her, depending on their own proclivities for truth telling, hardly a hallmark of politicians of whatever rank. There she always was, up front and center due to her rank as America's premier representative of the press, ready to ask that one piercing question directed at whatever cover-up, hypocrisy or skullduggery the DC suits were up to at the moment. The most recent example was her pointed question to President Obama, asking President Obama to name all the countries in the Middle East that have nuclear weapons, which was avoided by the President, who claimed to not want to "speculate". Thomas claims that knowledge of Israeli nukes is very public in DC and Obama's answer shows a lack of credibility. She explains the importance of this question for U.S. policy in the region. Finally, she confides that she has not been called on by the President since that day, but that if she does, she will ask him whether or not he has found any more information about nukes in the Middle East since their last encounter.

In preparation for my bar-mitzvah I attended Hebrew School at a place called Temple Emeth in Brookline, MA. Emeth is Hebrew for truth, and I was young enough, 11-12, to be curious what that meant. What I mostly discovered was an ancient cult dedicated to telling old wives tales meant to frighten and cajole its adherents into becoming and remaining loyal members of the tribe. The "truth" indeed. But I do remember that some of the old texts frequently mentioned something called "righteousness," which was somehow supposed to be the bedrock of the whole thing. Of course, no one actually believed in God. The "enlightened" Jews of Europe threw out that retro concept generations ago. Their new faith was Zionism, which can be summed up with the words, "God does not exist, but he gave us the Land." In replacing the old faith with the new, that old notion of "righteousness" conveniently disappeared - the baby got thrown out with the bathwater. What did remain was the actual faith of the Pharisees going back to biblical times, the worship of the Golden Calf, the belief in and absolute devotion to money and power.

She has seen it all, and if there's anyone who knows what the truth is, it is Helen Thomas. She saw the pressure and treachery applied by the Zionist mafia that led to the birth of Israel as an American protectorate in the Middle East. She saw her country that she so loved fall prey to a ruthless fifth column that has turned America into an obedient puppet of what a French diplomat once called "that shitty little state." She watched as the Chicago Jewish political mafia picked out and groomed a nobody for the Presidency, the perfect Uncle Tom with a silken tongue who would smoothly carry out Massa's orders

Who knows what the "rabbi" said to set her off, but whatever it was, she could no longer contain what she (and hundreds of millions of others who have not been duped or seduced by the Zionist) have felt all along, so she said what is so obvious - a bunch of genocidal settler-colonialist Eastern European fascists have no business being in Palestine in any other capacity than as tourists and should just get the hell out.

God bless Helen Thomas.

No, Helen Thomas being "more sensitive" has nothing
to do with it because it's the principle of the thing.
As a member of the press, but primarily as a sovereign
American citizen, Helen has the right to say anything
she pleases, to voice her opinion as she fits, without
being forced to pay a price for it.
She genuinely believes that Isarel needs to "get the hell out
of Palestine", as do millions of other Americans, and were it not
for the blind support of Israel found in so many segments of
American society today, she would still be working, at 89 yrs.old.

Sometime the truth is worth standing up for...
sometimes the truth has to be said
principles and integrity are all important
and sometimes they are the only things worth standing up for.
Truth is not comfortable, fluffy or cuddly
it is jagged, rough and hard.
But sometimes we must make a stand
when we see injustice.
So this lady of 89 has much to teach
those half or quarter her age.

Soon after the 89-year-old journalist was filmed saying that Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine" and go "home" to Germany and Poland, she lost her job.

How ironic that this get?

It just reminds me of doctors who say dont argue with me, when you want to ask them why you are supposed to take this medication. Some people just think they rule the world. What a world we live in!

We are certainly are fair-weather friend people in this country - Helen Thomas has been outspoken, frank, and insistent on asking tough questions. She makes one comment that people don't like and suddenly she's lower than dirt. She has a right to her opinion, right or wrong, and she doesn't deserve the bashing. However, if someone still wants to bash, I have several names I could nominate: George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Limbaugh, Beck, Palin.....

Locan Sleeping-Squirrel (209)

Arielle brings up an excellent point, there is a difference between those that make the news, those that report it and of course, those that frame and spin it under the guise of "reporting" but are described as "entertainment" though I personally don't find it so.

As for being a fair weather friend, my Congressman sent me a letter proudly stating that "since 1976, Israel has been the largest annual recipient of U.S. foreign assistance and is the largest accumulative recipient since World War II." He adds "Annual Foreign Military Financing (FMF) grants from the United States to Israel represent about 20% of the Israeli defense budget." He says nothing of the $550 million in equipment they are "storing" for us and as you read this Israel is asking that to be bumped up to $800 million.

We're not fair weather friends, we're just stupid.

Thomas."

Jonathan Cook argues that the overreaction of the US political and
media elite to Helen Thomas’s unguarded comments that Jews ought to leave
Palestine and return to the countries whence they came highlights the moral
failure of American liberals and a blindness to the relations of power in the
US, and contribute to the very intolerance they claim to be challenging.

The Outrage at Helen Thomas.
By Alison Weir.

"For years, long before her recent words, Thomas has been the target of Israel's vicious American volunteers, the Zionist blogosphere abounding with nasty slurs on her looks and her Lebanese ancestry, this latter also consistently emphasized by the media, despite her Kentucky birth and upbringing. One of the reasons for the ferocious animosity toward her is the fact that Thomas is one of the very few mainstream reporters to challenge the neocon engendered lies that led the U.S. into wars that have caused massive death, destruction and tragedy and to continue to expose ongoing policies of violence and cruelty. . ."

Dear Helen Thomas, we Jews aren't getting the hell out of anywhere anymore
Anti-Semitism is just the way it is, like a natural law; none of our efforts will absolve us of our real sin: existing and overcoming.
By Sara K. Eisen
Tags: Israel news Jewish world Here’s the thing. I’ve been thinking about poor Helen Thomas, who I believe was probably just saying what everyone thinks and has therefore been made a scapegoat. Not that I really care, because we ought to share the scapegoat status once in a while. It’s the least we can do to dispel the stereotype that we are stingy, us irritating Jews.

Irritating enough, apparently - like the too-talented and too-bossy fame-hog Rachel Berry on Glee - in our discovery of the written word, monotheism, modern physics, psychology, vaccinations, and the film industry, that every country that has ever “hosted” us has found it necessary to tell us to get the hell out, like Thomas did. (Ironically, the aforementioned Jewish Glee character Rachel, in a particularly annoying moment in one episode, was told by classmates to move to Israel. I doubt the writers coordinated this telling joke with the State Department - sorry J Street, Jews do equal Israel in the eyes of the world.)

Helen, you know why we were in Germany and much of Eastern Europe in the first place? And by the way, if I follow your advice, do you think the nice old ladies who got my grandmothers’ large houses and farms from the Nazis in what was once Czechoslovakia will kick the property back two generations? That would be cool because I’d love a vineyard and an agricultural estate.

Well, we were in Germany and Hungary and Czechoslovakia and Russia (where we were regularly just plain killed by Cossacks), and also, for many centuries, Poland (ditto), because we were told to get the hell out of England, France, and Spain. Or, you know, just plain killed by handsome and heroic fairytale knights.

And you know why we were in Western Europe to begin with? Because we were told by the Greeks and the Romans - wait for it - to get the hell out of “Palestine,” where we had been living since the beginning of recorded history.

We also ended up in Babylonia (Iraq) and other Middle Eastern and North African countries, where we stayed as second class citizens for hundreds and hundreds of years, till the Arab world finally caught up with the pagans and the Christians in their hatred of the Jews. But I digress.

By the way, I am aware that the Arab narrative has us Ashkenazi Jews as descendants of the Khazars, but the actual facts have it different. See this new DNA study linking European Jews with their Middle Eastern counterparts, all stemming from one original population of Holy Land Jews predating Roman times. Never mind our own texts that say the same thing; I know they are inadmissible in the international high courts of justice of the mind.

In any event, there is no way around it: Jews being asked, usually not by old ladies on the White House lawn, to get the hell out of everywhere is just the way it goes.

So it came to pass that about 200 BCE the Maccabees got sick of it and established a Jewish state in Palestine, within the Roman Empire, which lasted till about the time of Jesus (another pesky Jew) and the destruction of the Second Temple.

And it also came to pass that Jews began arriving in Ottoman Palestine in the late 1800s, after the Russians and the Poles made it clear that they were persona non grata in Eastern Europe. Palestine was as good a place as any to flee to, since it was the last place, about 2,000 years before, in which the Jews had a sovereign state (see above). Never mind Jewish liturgy and texts pining for Jerusalem, since I know these, too, are inadmissible in those international mental courts.

Anyway, nowhere else wanted European Jews any more than Russia did, not even America really, where there were very strict quotas, although the Americans, again politely, refrained from all the messy European killing, which was apparently in vogue until after Adolf. Besides, those Ottoman Turks, then as now, were known around the world for their amazing human rights activism and the Jews were excited to see it first hand. No, not really. But…they were better than the Polish peasants. Unless you were Armenian.

It is true that there were people in Palestine before the Jews arrived en masse (for there was always a handful of Jews here), not "A People" per se, but rather a group of assorted regional Arabs (think Native American tribes in North America) who had settled the area with not much agricultural success and had endured various rulers over the millennia.

But when the Jews came back, it was suddenly necessary, once again, to tell them to get the hell out. There was no living side by side, even though that was an express Jewish desire right up until 1947/8, when the Partition Plan was summarily rejected by the Arab League, who started the war that Israel won. If keeping land you win in a war others provoke (when you wanted to make peace) is called occupation, dear Helen, the world’s axis of furious justice has a lot bigger fish to fry than Israel.

The Arab desire to kick the Jews the hell out of Palestine did not begin in 1967, and not in 1948. It began the moment the first groups of Jews arrived and started to make the land flower and produce crops. That’s when the attacks on Jews began, and when the Arab world decided a new Jewish presence in the land would not do, back when there were about half a million Arabs and just under 100,000 Jews in the Holy Land, in the early 1900’s. Twenty percent was too much, apparently, to bear. (The Hebron Massacre of 1929, in which dozens of Jews were killed and wounded, took place long before a single house was built over the Green Line)

I can only imagine how awful it was - probably for both the Arabs and the British - when it became clear we were here to stay and grow to much further percentages. We are that annoying, what with trying to get rid of malaria and swamps and tuberculosis and all that.

At any rate, it seems that every time a Jewish minority starts to make a society too successful, the indigenous people start to feel very uncomfortable, and tells them one way or another to get the hell out.

But now, alas, there is nowhere left for us to go, except the eternal place Ahmadinejad wants us to go, and Haniyeh and Nasrallah, and Hitler before them, and Chemilniki before him, and Haman before him, and so on.

I know that Israel has made mistakes during its 62 years, some clumsy and inept, and some borderline immoral. But none worse than every other democracy on earth has also done, and most much better than the large majority of the UN rogue nations which condemn Israel daily have done, daily.

There is much to improve in the way we govern, I will be the first to say it. I will also be the first to say that Jews of the Bernie Madoff ilk make me want to crawl under a rock. I know that the world is only waiting for these guys to pop up in order to pin their crimes on all of us, even though everything they do is in direct contradiction of actual Jewish values.

But let’s be honest, the international community’s human rights crusades on behalf of the Palestinians are just the latest Crusades, and the ones who really suffer are not the Jews or the Israelis, but the poor occupants of the Third World who are ignored while the enlightened First World castigates the Jews.

So here’s the thing: We are not going anywhere this time, Helen. We totally get it: Ya’ll pretty much hate us. It’s just the way it is, like a natural law. Nothing we can do - not giving away pieces of the land, not donating billions to charity, nor discovering a cure for polio or the Theory of Relativity, or writing revered legal and religious texts, or founding Google and Facebook, or manufacturing the microprocessor in the majority of laptops that spew Jew hatred onto the Internet, or founding Christianity itself, or championing women’s rights and gay rights in the U.S. and helping to bring about a human rights revolution in America in the '60s. None of those things will absolve us of our real sin: Existing and overcoming.

But this time, seriously. Getting the hell out is not in the cards. We’re just sick of moving all the time. I know. Irritating.

I’m really sorry they told you to get the hell out of the White House, Helen. It really wasn’t your fault that you thought you could say what you said. It’s not like it’s a secret: That’s what people think

Let's not forget that Helen apologized for her lapse.

"Thomas later issued a statement saying, "I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon."

I don't know of ONE SINGLE PERSON, in any position, who is not subject to misspeak in a moment of passion.

Why do I say "misspeak?"

Because the esteemed Ms. Thomas was in the business of presenting news -- hopefully, without prejudice -- and, as such, by making such a faux pas, committed a misstep that even SHE recognized.

As much as we may disrespect news channels that consistently show a biased view of world events (such as Fux News), we cannot allow ourselves to sink to that deplorable level.

Helen Thomas said what many people think, but don't have the guts to say it. Besides the woman is old and should have retired long ago when she still had her wits.. Ms Thomas should never have apologized for saying what millions of citizens agree with. Israel behaves brutally towards a occupied people. Israel and many American Jews are eroding the reputation of America for supporting a country who are using the same tactics as Hitler used against them. It is not in their nature to show some humanity when it involves people in their own back yard!
