Thank you Jollygirl. Autism is so prevalent now. The statistics are awful. And no one either knows why or it is being covered up. Personally, I think it is in the vaccines.

My middle son is autistic. He is an adult now & he's always lived at home, with us. It was rough on our family, but we are still together. Only one of his former classmates still lives at home, & none of them have parents who remained together. It's hard financially, but worse emotionally. I'm proud of my sons, they've grown up well. I'm only sorry that they have chosen not to risk having children, though I understand. I wish a cure could be found, but I suspect it won't be in my lifetime. I think autism is too complex, a combination of genetics, toxins in environment, & mis-applied medicines (I happen to believe that a shot given to me for a bladder infection while I was pregnant triggered it, but bad vaccinations may have the same effect in others).

Thanks Jolly this will help so many parents.

Yvonne, I'm so sorry about your son but he is so blessed to have been born to such sweet, and loving parents. God bless you.

LOL! I'm not particularly sweet, but I do think he's better off in his home rather than "in a Home". I'm glad this generation of parents have Much more information & support available, but I'm sad that there's SO many more families who Need It!

I forwarded this link to my work (school). This is a great informational link for anyone who works with Austistic Children/students/Adults. This year I have 4 autistic (Aspberger's Syndrome) young men on my roll. Each one is unique, and extremely brilliant in their academics. Socially...they have a very hard time with peers, and the academic settings, and transitions. It has been wonderful in learning and working with these kids, and what they do and say every day. I too, learn from them. Yvonne, I also emphasize w/you, and know that you are very proud of your sons. It's hard to diagnose what the cause is...but I do know that one of my kids is on an organic diet, and is a lot calmer vs. my other three students. I do hope that anyone who works in the public schools gets trained in knowing their autistic students, as they bring so much to the classroom!!! Understanding and patience also goes firsthand with working with autistic children or adults. Noted, thank you, Jollygirl!

Another great blog is "Notes of an Anesthesioboist" (anesthesioboist.blogspot.com) which deals with medicine and anesthesiology, music and the oboe (whence the title), family, cooking and faith. I never miss a word: it's beautifully written and substantive on ALL these subjects.
