iTunes is featuring a new app called "Ugly Meter," which scans your face with splashy graphics and then rates your attractiveness between 1 and 10. If the app deems you ugly, it also insults you with such quips as "When you walk past a bathroom, the toilet flushes." What's worse, there's a "Bully Mode" that generates harsher insults.
Most people, however,
are unaware that the results are randomly-generated. Many parents and anti-bullying organizations, furthermore, are
worried this app will damage young children's self-image and provide ammunition for cyberbullies.
This app has already been
downloaded over 3 million times. In an age where teenagers commit suicide over Facebook privacy intrusions, do we really need another esteem-shattering tool at our fingertips?
Call upon iTunes to remove this worthless app!
