The cases are endless with people overextending themselves with too many dogs they cannot handle and afford to excess and backyard breeding. Just recently, in Utah, 13 dogs were abandoned and trapped in a home. The man, Dale Jacobs from St. George, Utah was charged for having too many animals in the home and then abandoning them. Officers were led to the home because of the stench.

What happened is that this man was breeding the dogs but was forced to move, leaving them behind. He did stop by periodically to feed them but they had to live in their own filth and feces because of no access to the outdoors. The breeding of the animals became too much for Mr. Jacobs to handle, forcing him to abandon them rather than turn them over to someone who could care for them. Abandoning these sweet, innocent beings was not the right solution. Animal control quickly intervened to get the dogs out of this unsanitary situation.

Although the dogs were in rather good condition, since they were at least being fed, a couple of them required medical attention. This situation with excess and backyard breeding is all too common nationwide which also includes the state of Utah. We need to encourage better practices to save unwanted, abused and neglected animals.

State Of Utah Government Legislators – You need to consider implementing and enforcing stricter dog breeding regulations. Too many people are taking upon themselves to get into the money of breeding and over breeding their dogs in their homes and backyards, disregarding the health and care of the animals. This is an explicit case of animal cruelty and abuse. With more enforced, strict laws against such practices, you can save the excess population of unwanted, neglected animals.
