Bring Back the USPS International Surface Mail Service

  • by: Jeff Gunsch
  • recipient: Congress and the United States Post Office
This petition is to push the USPS and the Congress to make changes in the US Post Office that will really benefit customers.  Eliminating the USPS ground shipping services for international packages has effected people all over the world.  We ask that the US Post Office reverse its decision and bring the surface shipping service back.

Please sign and distribute this petition freely. We need people who are willing to send letters, post in forums, and write articles. Please leave remember to leave your zip code or country as well as comments. This service elimination will affect individuals, businesses, expatriates, humanitarian aid groups, charities, religious groups, students, book companies who provide free books to poor countries, and now have more environmental impact. Please pass the petition around! Few people knew the USPS was going to drop the economy mail services, so it is essential that we spread the word to people everywhere. I appreciate your support. Please also remember to use your first and last name when signing the petition, those who use only first names, may be deleted from the petition. Thank you!!

Dear Congressmen and US Postal Inspector,

This petition is to urge Congress and the United States Post Office to Bring Back the International Surface Mail Service.

We petition to bring back the International Surface Mail Service as well as other economy mail services that were eliminated on May 14, 2007.

Although new replacement services are offered, these cannot compare to the rates of the ground shipping service which took 4-12 weeks for delivery.  The surface mail service is economical, environmentally friendly and suitable for many needs.

The International Surface Mail option is important and will affect all countries with relatives, organizations, or businesses in the USA. The impact will be felt by individuals, businesses, customers, expatriates, humanitarian aid groups, charities, religious groups, students, book companies who provide free books to poor countries, and now also the environment.

We urge the USPS to [reimplement] this service swiftly so that customers may again enjoy cheaper shipping rates or create a newer, better service.  We also urge congress to push the USPS to make changes that will benefit its users.
